  • SCP 173 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as The Sculpture.
Moved to Site-19 1993. Origin is as of yet unknown. It is constructed from concrete and rebar with traces of Krylon brand spray paint. SCP-173 is animate and extremely hostile. The object cannot move while within a direct line of sight. Line of sight must not be broken at any time with SCP173 . Personnel assigned to enter container are instructed to alert one another before blinking. Object is reported to attack by snapping the neck at the base of the skull, or by strangulation. In the event of an attack, personnel are to observe Class 4 hazardous object containment procedures.

SCP-173, has anyone tested its ability to climb? If you're really not going to destroy it, by throwing it into a bottomless pit or launching it into space with a remotely controlled camera and shuttle, try placing into a pit with some material it couldn't punch into, or with inclined walls, kind of like dropping into a pyramid from the top. It moves fast, but I doubt it can climb very well, especially with its weight.

    • @kuznetsov9471

If the game Containment Breach is to be taken into account, he definitely can climb considering the explanation for how he get everywhere including closed rooms is the person sized Vents that almost every room has... Do consider the Vents are on the TOP of said rooms, sometimes quite high... And he is able to travel through them as you see most vents broke open.
If the game is to be taken into canon, then he definitely can climb, possibly excel at climbing straight up flat vertical walls.

During the whole monologue i was able to keep up with the one eye at a time thing fairly well. I then tried to simply stare during the whole thing and was not as successful. While the eyes do get blurry and pained after a while, its easier to keep up with the test while doing it the instructed way rather than doing it the recommended way, which is to simply stare until you cant anymore

In theory if all of its escape routes were being watched and all of the people looking were behind overlapping lines of sight, it couldn't escape by killing the people watching. You know the original "Peanut" design? Well, that was based on a sculpture by a Japanese artist named Izumi Kato, which the SCP site initially took the design of without permission or licencing. Izumi Kato has allowed it to be used after finding out, and only if the design is used non-commercially, but he's not happy about the arrangement.
However, as you may know, there have been both video games, art, and videos by fans of the SCP universe that use his design, which is against the agreement and copyright, and something that made Izumi Kato more and more upset. So to solve this discontent, the Site has finally gotten round to removing the picture from the original article and, at the behest of the writer of said article, not replacing it with any other picture, in order to make fans imagine their own ideas for what 173 looks like.
There is even a compilation on the SCP Site of numerous fan-redesigns of 173, but, again, none of them will be made official.
Lore-wise, it varies, but the common theme is that there are now numerous versions of SCP-173, based on the revised 173 article where the SCP gains the ability to self-duplicate and spreads across North America and Wales. These explanations range from having Self-Duplication but at a slower rate and creating non-identical copies, to there being artificially-created clones of SCP 173(as used by the SCP: Pandemic game).

Blinking one eye at a time rhythmically does not work, the video was right about that. If I was trapped with the sculpture I would close one eye for about 30 seconds with my hand on the closed eye so that it could rest while the other eye stared and when the staring eye started to dry I would open the other eye but then have BOTH eyes open as if I open and close at same time there might be a tiny fraction of second of blindness. While BOTH eyes are staring I would carefully put my hand over the other eye so that it could have a minute or so of rest while the other eye did the work and I would keep alternating. That would be the best way to buy time while hoping for rescue.

So I’m assuming that looking through a live camera feed doesn’t freeze 173, but what about periscopes? Using mirrors to make periscope-like contraptions, you could have 10 or so people looking through the walls at 173 during cleaning

I know the choke hold itself is useless except to stay attached to the peanut. But even if you blink, does it have the flexibility or ability to be able to snap your neck being as it is a concrete structure?

They couldn't contain a toddler... firstly; deadbolts, doors?! What about a sealed dome 15m thick with layered rubber, titanium and reinforced concrete? No "doors" just a hatch at the top with a bulletproof window 15m thick that allows vision inside the brightly illuminated dome... powered by the site's nuclear reactor... with some of the light being independently powered by a dedicated generator with a redundant generator on standby.
The cleaning automated, the viewing done by 4 people from the top of the dome through the safety of the 15m glass.
The thing can't fly... it can maybe try and scale the inverted walls... good luck...then it has to go through 15m of bullet proof glass.
By the time it gets to the window the Blink Event is done and its inert body just falls down at the bottom of the dome... nice try silly.
