- Опубліковано 8 сер 2022
- SCP 173 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as The Sculpture.
Moved to Site-19 1993. Origin is as of yet unknown. It is constructed from concrete and rebar with traces of Krylon brand spray paint. SCP-173 is animate and extremely hostile. The object cannot move while within a direct line of sight. Line of sight must not be broken at any time with SCP173 . Personnel assigned to enter container are instructed to alert one another before blinking. Object is reported to attack by snapping the neck at the base of the skull, or by strangulation. In the event of an attack, personnel are to observe Class 4 hazardous object containment procedures.

I would like to note that in some universes, the foundation actually had the brilliant idea to install self cleaning systems in the form of sprinkler heads and drains beneath it, thus removing the need to enter the containment cell, minimizing breaches. Unfortunately, only a few site 19's have figured this out to date somehow...
This kind of scp that would require human attention would found measures to ensure non-human intervention would not work. Some universes have it that the peanut would produce more shit than what the automated system can handle till it breaks.
@@secondsein7749 lmfao
@@secondsein7749 lol
@@secondsein7749 Actually, in the universe I'm thinking of, they had that same problem and the system actually went through several re-designs as a result. In the end, the system was on par with that of a sewage treatment plant and would even use chemical agents to break down the organic material into a more manageable slurry before being flushed several times a day. Pain in the ass, yes, but it can be done.
@@Rekuzan Didn't one of those stories also end with 173 duplicating itself?
When you're in a horror story, you make bad decisions. The foundation could move 173 into a different room while the cleaning crew mops. Then they could blink freely, but then the monster wouldn't have a chance to murder. We'd have no story.

You would think that by this point, the Foundation would make the effort to seal 173 in a giant block of cement littered with motion trackers, seismic sensors and other things just as an added layer of protection as its excretions don't harm the cement, they just flood the room and damage the drains.
Not to mention drop it in the Mariana's trench, cover the trench in concrete and have a nuclear device attached to the block he's sleeping in.
Yeah but if they do that the "waste, aka weird black sludge' that 173 produces would literally fill up the whole cube, plus when no ones looking it couldbreak walls as seen in scp 173 in whem day breaks, and someone NEEDS to look at it you cant juat use motion sensors.
Where would it go?
The pressure inside of a cube like that will grow until the cube fails and the Koitern breaches containment. It would also be very difficult and expensive to keep replacing and would likely lead to many containment breaches in the process.
the shit-blood secretion would build up in pressure until it ruptured and made a massive explosion, followed by crunch crunch crunch

Just wondering something , what happens when the crew is done with cleanup, wouldn't you be breaking line of sight right before closing the door ?
And if viewing SCP-173 though a camera feed have the same effect as direct line of sight wouldn't it be much safer to have 5 people stare at the camera feed with multiple angles and have 1x D class that is ignorant of SCP173's ability cleaning the room , or even a team of d class cleaning at the same to reduce the cleaning time and therefor risk ?
Another idea for cleaning , steel mesh floor with drain and robotic high pressure washers.
173 is smarter then it looks dear. Automated Ai? 173 poop somehow ends up in their wires. Grates? The poop solidifies and becomes unbreakable to even the best cleaning agents. Looking through a camera? Cameras go out from time to time for some unexplained reason.
@@johnjohnjohnson7720 I am guessing you are also a long-time fan of this channel, but they did make a video about one of the theories of how SCP-173 came to site 19 and in the video, the site, time, and universe SCP-173 was originally in did infact use an automatic cleaning system for it's filth. Forgot what it was called though, but I am pretty sure they mentioned the video at the end
Wouldn't be much safer if they would put 173 in a spot that has a divided room? Move 173 to the clean room then let the D-class clean the dirty room?
@@johnjohnjohnson7720 Camera's do go out but at worst you are risking one D class instead of a team of 4. And if the cameras do go out you are going to have a bunch of panicked d classes all ready to start running and blinking. when told they have to stay put for a while longer

Cold, not cruel. A phrase which sadly holds no truth, even for the staff. Amazon treats their employees better than the SCP Foundation, and that's saying something. I think it would make no difference if the Foundation was a corporation rather than an organization, because they act like a corporation for sure, all rights reserved and stripped from the lives of the pore souls that are trapped there. It’s probably a bad idea to have the same teams assigned to the same scps for decades. People eventually lose their respect and focus on the situation. What I find so terrifying about 173 is that it would NEVER lose focus. It seems harmless, dormant but in fact it’s always waiting for a chance to strike and escape. It never gets old. People on the other hand, might eventually feel less scared around it as it’s not moving, and then they would fail while the creature is taking the chance with incredible speed. This scp is indeed never getting old, I love the stories about it so much and it’s still terrifying, just as it used to be 15 years ago when it was created. A simple but brilliant idea for a horror character.

@@torinlupo807 yeah.
Those cannons atleast try to explain stuff like why they don't try icing it.
But that still doesn't explain security as pathetic as just 2 dudes taking turns to blink
@Nobody What winds up happening pretty much every time is the situation always anomalously breaks down because of unforeseen complications, outside intervention, or utterly random and ludicrous events preventing what started as a simple plan in theory turns into a containment breach. Since they are aware that there is extreme unlikelihood of success with such plans, Foundation higher ups tend not to support them.
Also, they take the idea that they don't know what'll actually happen when SCP's are destroyed, see SCP-1609 for an example of why destruction may not be a good idea just because something is anomalous. And chances are if the object is actually dangerous enough that containing it isn't worth it, they tend find out the hard way that they actually can't destroy it anyway for various reasons or that destroying it creates a far worse scenario. Sometimes, it's best to let some sucker die in the dark trying to contain the thing like poor Jake Scholl here so you don't have to deal with the problem yourself anyway and just keep replacing him when you've got containment facilities to run and anomalies popping up by the day to fill them.
The Foundation should just use 131 A and B when they need to clean 173's cell.
The eyepods can still be killed by the Koitern if something goes wrong. While it is true that they do not have to blink, they are not a perfect solution to it. And they aren't comfortable looking at it, unless it is an emergency I'd imagine they wouldn't. They know what it is and don't want to be near it so you'd have to force them into the cell which would just be awful to do to them.
So when do we get to the story where 173 finally gets destroyed? It feels like we're building up to it.

The Ethics Committee only makes sure that everything the Foundation does with an SCP/D-Class is fir the sake of learning about/containing SCPs. After a long think, I have decided that, while the current look for SCP-173 is very good and more detailed than the original, I do prefer the original (maybe you could try the current style, but closer to the size and shape of the original). I do understand how much of a pain designing and animating these things must be though, so I don't really expect another big change to its design soon, or at all. As long as your videos are interesting and fun to watch, I don't care much about these little details beyond the occasional bit of feedback, and please don't feel pressured to do anything.
The thing with the original design is that the person who wrote 173 used a photo without the permission or crediting the original artist (since this is the OG SCP, crediting and stuff wasn't even though about at the time). For what I can remember, the sculpturer didn't mind people using his work for reference even though it was part of a bigger set of sculptures representing a personal journey, but the admins of the SCP website still decided to change the picture reference since it was against their new rules against art theft (or at least that's what I can remember). That's why so many pages, videos, channels, etc have changed 173's design, to honor the SCP wiki and the rules against intellectual property theft

Why dont they just use an Automatic washing system to wash the room?
I always wonder why it's only a crew of 3 everytime with 173. Why not make a walkway above the cell and get like 50+ D classes to stay up there while 3 go in to clean. Must higher chance of survival. Also, 173 can't actually escape confinement, only when the door is open. So why not improve the confinement space itself to keep it contained. Maybe try making a room at the end of a corridor with a set of 5+ doors. Some mechanical and some with basic locks. This way if mechanical doors fail then the locked doors would be fine. Then position guards at each set of doors. Ultimately you wouldn't have to worry about clean up this way, you could just let it "drown" in its own faeces and filth. If you did want to send people in just make sure the doors are locked behind, if they fail and die the monster still can't get out. Then later you can just send a retrieval team for the bodies. If all else fails just let the eyepods keep watch xD
Scp 173 is hella strong, being able to break the neck of hard to destroy reptile and so much d classes in 1 room can make it easy to riot
And in some versions of 173 if it’s get too dirty it can clone itself and escape containment’s

Why don’t they cover scp 173’s containment chamber mirrors so no matter where you look you can see it? That way you could easily clean the room without having to stare at it directly.
It's a great idea but 173 would probably break the mirrors when left alone in between 2 cleaning sessions.
He doesn’t move when being watched though.
It’s only direct line of sight, as far as I know. That’s why they don’t use cameras.
A somewhat bad question, probably answered before. couldnt you snap SCP - 173's neck, if done right?
@An unknown uncontained SCP well yes, but anything can snap with enough twisting force. Concrete is good for support not twisting, and you can twist rebar, not easily by hand, but is do able.
