- SCP 1875 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as Antique Chess Computer.
SCP-1875 is a Victorian-era chess automaton consisting of four principal components.
These SCP1875 components are A steel chessboard table, A complete set of 32 chess pieces carved in the Oriental style from human bone, A stationary steam engine manufactured by Maudslay, Sons & Field (c. 1840) and A suit of 18th-century Samurai armor in the Gusoku style.
This sophisticated mechanical and biological system controls a matrix of 64 electromagnets using an analytical engine composed of the combined brain tissue of the twin daughters of a Russian chess prodigy.

So if I come across a Samurai chess machine... DON'T play it, right?
YOOO THE OFFICIAL GUY HIMSELF WHY ONLY 3 LIKES
if you don't want to receive an email with a bizarre image, right
Yo it's Chess, checking on his mates
hi
Fake
Theory: The setting sets how lucid the brains are during use. By the 5th setting the brains are fully lucid, hence by that time the brains are just straight up wrecking the pieces and board so they can finally "escape".
Thats makes sense, good theory.
I thought it was because on the 5th setting the brains are been forced to move faster and don't have enough time to think about their moves as they're forced to make a move in under a second.
I'm pretty sure this SCP is based on a real thing that happened, albeit the real thing is less creepy. A guy made a chess playing 'automaton' but it was secretly just a really good chess player on the inside moving the 'robot'
The Turk.
Yup
Yeah kinda dumb
And then the true robots came around and pancaked everyone's strats
It was actually real
This video is an elaborate reminder. Expecting your kids to be good at or passionate about the things YOU are good at or passionate about is just about the fastest way to eradicate their mental health and self image.
So. Yknow. Don't.
And an easy way to never speak to your kid after it turns 18
@@corruptedplayer how the hell did you get that from their comment
@@SilverVolo because the parent eradicated their mental health
@@SilverVolo yes
This channel really helps me understand these weirder SCP’s easier, the pictures and dialogue are great together.
Without being too graphic, very useful when watching these at night...
@@theotherohlourdespadua1131 this has been my bedroom routine for months now. Glad I'm not the only one lol!
Yeah, like what they did to scp 105 (Eris).
I only relate because there is no [REDACTED]
I have been playing chess all day in a turnament in greece and now i return hometo relax and see this.... IVE HAD ENOUGH OF CHESS FOR TODAY.
Well how did you do in the tournament?
@@anthonymorris8891 not that good but i really enjoyed it and thats what really matters its a game after all
@@anthonymorris8891 and yeah at least i got some wins
It's not coincidence >:]
@@thatrandomguy1489 I'm willing to bet you're better than the average Joe. Congrats on making it as far as you did. You'll get em next time ☺️
I love how they started out by saying that a five year old boy went against twelve of Russia chess grandmasters and do you want to know what happened? And i was saying to myself that the kid was a chess wizard himself and beat all of them and then the narrator said ' he lost them all ' 😂 😂 that was a good one. I should've seen that coming.
ANATOLIA KARPOOOOOV!!!!!
Same

@@guyunderyour-bed why am I here?
I do recommend seeing the actual pic(s) used for 1875 (or just see the article itself) as the art style can only convey it creepiness so much
SCP 4666 though…
I’ve seen it. It’s Terrifying in its own right, but it also has some strange effects on the brain. It almost seemed like it got darker and then brighter again. Weird to say the least
There are like 4 versions of it. Despite knowing where it comes from (distorted roller coaster capture cam photo), it scared the living heck out of me enough to keep me up at night. So I did the most sensible thing: stare at it long and hard...
Fun fact: the machine referenced in this video was actually a real machine invented at chess’s peak popularity in the nineteenth century, however, it was actually just a person inside the machine moving the pieces. Fun take!
Wait a second, if each fingerbone was carved into a chess piece, then they would need 32 fingers. So where did he get the last 12 from, if the professor never displayed symptoms of having used his own ? Even then, he would still be missing 2 fingers.
white is bone black might be hair or something like that
Or they just used some other Bones and the finger ones where mains
they were 2 daughters
Each finger has at least two usable parts... So he had 40 pieces to carve
@@nayriksueqram7004 math wasn't your strong suit huh?
I don’t think people show enough love for this man’s effort he puts into creating a story relating to the scp every episode
They’re usually written already by scp authors and the animations are creative representations of the stories but I still appreciate all of the creativity going into it
Nope this were written by other people and not their writing.
For anyone wondering. There were 8 usable bones on each hand. There are 4 hands so 4x8=32 perfect. 3 of the fingers on each hand had 2 usable bones, the 3 in the middle, and other the 2 (thumb and pinkie) only had 1 usable bone each. The other bones would be too small to make pieces out of.
I remember first time reading this years ago. I was cluelessly reading it and at the end my heart nearly exploded. It was the best jumpscare in the site. That photo was uncanny valley on steroids.
Oh my god
I just went to see it again.
Not the best decision before bed
This reminds me of the "automaton" that would be brought around the world to play chess back in the 1800s I think. It was actually a guy hidden inside the automaton.
Mechanical turk?
This is one of my top five favorite SCP entries. It was one of the first 25 entries I read and I like this one a lot.
Edit: Just realized Dr. Bob did a video of this entry too and I want to watch it now.
Wait how is this your favourite whats so special about it there are so many other better anomalies
@@nprpps matter of opinion. Not everyone likes the same things
@@eielyreithstormwake1905 you get it kind sir.
@@nprpps We all have certain things that resonate with us personally. My favourite is a City All of Blood, for instance, due to the atmosphere, imagery, and religious themes, but it's probably not most people's top pick. That's what's fun about SCP: there's an anomaly out there for everyone (and if there isn't, you can make one).
I completely forgot I was listening to an SCP story until 6:45 in. LOL
The first third of the story is just a dramatization of how SCP-1875 was found by the SCP Foundation as in its article it was listed that this was found in some professor's home in England...
one thing I would like to mention is that the child, who had been "under-performing" compared to his dad, actually beat the machine in the first game, under faster conditions than he was prolly wasn't used to. Says a hell of a lot about the kid, imo...
I read the title as: "What if your gaming skills were good?", and i thought SCP explained was roasting me for my gaming capabilities.
That story in the news recently where the chess robot broke the 7 year old's arm. Why a chess robot needs to be strong enough to break bone, I don't have any clue.
maybe someone wanted to combine it with that one Robot that can consume organisms for energy.
It was his finger not his arm
The image of 2 girls on SCP-1875’s wiki page is apparently the SCP Foundations most disturbing image.
Pretty much the story of my life. I've been trying to live up to expectations on a winner of games when all I wanted to do was just play.
I was waiting for this video to release for months
The real scp is how scp explained uploads so many videos
Antique Chess: How to Play
The rules are the same as regular chess, except for these changes…
Hey, I heard of this one! I remember watching it from Billy Styler's channel! Glad to see this one done by you guys!
Eric Troy you say?
Head Cannon:
Eric Troy is what 066 (Erics Toy) is looking for.
The image gives me nightmares to this day. I think I have PTSD now caused by this.
The only thing I remember about this anomaly is the terrifying picture that was on the page. Thanks for bringing back my Sleep Paralysis Demon.
Day 364 of asking the O5 Council to use SCP-1968 to create a universe in which 682 doesn't exist.
Requesting amnesic drugs, over?
I have been WAITING for this one since Be Amazed covered it in their SCP EPISODE, so excited to see it!
16:13, i just realized that his father was the king of the last chess game they were playing
please make giga chad vs scp 682
Eric is such a sweetheart, I hope his dad appreciates that.
Oh this is a very interesting chess set.
I got a SCP Kickstarter advert before this video.
*SCP-1875*
Me: *Vietnam jumpscare PTDS*
I must say who ever wrote this SCP he is a genius.
1:13
Guy's kinda remindin' me of Inspector Gadget..
yeah same lol
I remember seeing a video about this SCP but instead of the father using his daughters it was that his daugthers went missing
You see, none of this would've happened if people played a friendly game of checkers.
Or Uno.
love your videos and i also love learning about the scp foundation and mosters
I do not get how the brains were KEPT ALIVE for so long. If its living tissue wouldn't it DIE??
For the first part, I completely forgot I was listening to an scp video.
Thank you for the video. Note to self: Do not open any weird foreign emails. Wait, I don't do that anyway. They'd probably just end up in spam regardless.
6:55 “Back in the 90s I was in a very famous tv show”
Oh man, the laugh after the talk of human bone chess pieces! 😨
Can we do an scp vs scp video?
alright everyone, put tf2 mann vs. machine voicelines in the replies
The reason it can talk to the computer is the fact it use magnetic to move things around, by using it it can make a wireless signal out to near by computer system as any airgap system know that you can get data from a port without plugging anything in
1:22 ahh yes, King h4, outstanding move
In the next video can u do how scp 001 gate guardian survives when the day breaks
Put him up against 007 so he can get better
SCP The Clockworks is supposed to be a solid chess player, wonder who would win
Now we need to have the ultimate game of chess. 1875 vs 914.
This scp terrifies me. It sounds like a living hell.
This is why I prefer playing checkers instead of chess.
Eric!!! Is that the same Eric who making the “TOY”.!
That's an unnerving SCP 😌
Reminds me of The Magnus Archive episode 116 - The show must go on.
Okay, this felt more like My Story Animated than SCP Explained.
Hunter is to SCP Explained what Giancarlo Esposito was to Breaking Bad
Anybody catch the part where he says "lost his king" and "won"? Those are opposites lol
This made me think about the time that a chess robot broke the fingers of a child it was playing against
“lost his king”
I prefer the term mann vs machines
Decent horror plot here
Bet its desire camera photo would be interesting
It wasn't a Samurai, it was a chess robot known as 'The Mechanical Turk' and it wasn't a machine, just a cleverly disguised ruse with a chess master hidden inside.
You'd know this is not The Turk when it listed its creation in Russia; The Turk was built by famous inventor Wilhelm von Kempelen in Vienna in 1770. This SCP was built in between the 1820's to 1870's...
@@theotherohlourdespadua1131 I was just citing the Turk as the RL inspiration for this particular SCP file. Chess playing mechanical robot that really wasn't a robot but had a person inside. They even got the part where the 'machine' was being erratic and refused to play which famously happened with Napoleon.
Great video as always!
Poor guy. He just wanted to spend time with his dad.
Wasn't there a real-life automaton that played chess and usually won, around the 19th century? I never checked the story for myself, but it was a sort of curiosity-show piece, though it was found out to be a hoax later and a human was making the decisions. Supposedly even Napoleon played agains't it once, and lost. Well, real story or not, I wonder if it inspired this SCP tale.
Most likely given that it sports exotic garb (the actual machine wears Turkish wear). There is even an actual machine that plays chess on its own in Spain...
You should have put phase the 27.5 picture in there
Machine vs man?? No I think you mean MANN V.S. MACHINE
10:28
Did anyone else just hear bone coloured prawns
yeah, thats weird
I didn't know they made a video on my old ahh computer
Ryuji: I like the way you think... thanks for understanding
im not falling for that bs
No matter how good the machine is it won’t be able to stop the stock fish 14
Now I feel better when I play chess :)
0:20 it's think several steps and possible outcomes and how said outcome is reached
So this kids name is Eric.
Is this the Eric that scp-066 refers to?
new community post called: What could be 682's true name please
Could you make a video about the researchers/ scientific department?
Wasn't eric Matthew's a charicter in boy meets world? Weird coincidence.
You should do the deepest desire of Scp 662
So it sounds like the primary dangerous element is a memetic hazard probably triggered when viewing the email? That'd be my closest guess as to what triggers the following health problems/hallucinations/personality changes/death.
Yep!
How can he win against the samurai if he lost his king to win?
0:06
HHHHH
He lost his king?
Yes
Because of the anomalous picture that it sends out, SCP-1875 is kept inside of a Faraday cage, and Internet access to the site it’s contained in is limited.
I don’t know what’s going on with the “CONGRATS” commentator, but I think that’s a spam comment and/or a scam.
@@Nameless-ln5mr yes, it is a scam. be sure to report them.
@@atirutwattanamongkol8806 The deed is done!
I'm surprised you guys didn't lead with that a Russian chess bot broke a kids finger recently
How recently? If you're talking "a few days ago"-recently they wouldn't know about it since they made these vids like a TV show production: weeks or even months in advance...
Just pull Stockfish and you win
We need Hikaru Nakamura, or Magnus Carlen or Kasparov to play against this SCP, in a tale or test, it would be so cool :D
Can you pls talk about scp 191
Yayyyy new video
My brain hurts
Hey, do SCP-3241 next 😀
Nice vid.
Wait a second, thats a KID named ERIC...
Erics toy ??? Is this the Eric?🤯🤯
What a coincidence
I just want to say that I have never lost to Magnus Carlson at chess. Although I am only a 1900-2100 rated so as long as I don’t get unlucky I don’t think the world chess champion will beat me any time soon
asking for the hashira vs scp 682
