A Harry Potter RPG... has potential. Honestly, it would be extremely interesting if it had mechanics centered around class attendance, being absent, getting searched for by Filch, the teachers, the ghosts, etc. that progresses as you play. It seems like the best way to do the spells would be to have some happen in real time in and out of action sequences (like using Lumos to light your way in the dark, then switching it off so you can escape when an enemy sees you) while others (like Alohemora) are situationally active, and others (such as Imperio) are accessed through dialogue trees. It would also be cool if you could level certain abilities at different rates, to accomodate different play styles, and make the whole game beatable for each playstyle. Like an Alohemora specialist could walk into Gringott's and walk out with enough money to sink a galleon, then bribe their way to the top. Stuff like that.
This was really one of the first reviews where Joe had a modernised angry review of a game, pretty much inaugurating the golden period of the funniest and best angry reviews ever.
@@arkhamknight2506 hes still the best person to watch for gaming news and hes the only reviewer that actually reviews the whole game before reviewing it. Every game review ive searcher for on youtube the first 20 motherfuckers that come up have only played the first 1 usually maaaybeeee the first 3 if your lucky which is still only the beginning of the game which often leads too completely inaccurate conclusions making them worthless.
@@SuperKillJoy15 I wouldn't put Skyrim, one of the worst RPGs ever made, anywhere near those other games. Those other games are masterpieces by comparison. Seriously, Skyrim is shit and because it sold a bunch doesn't make it good. It's an absolute disgrace to the Elder Scrolls series and the representation of how low Bethesda stoop for that casual money.
I would LOVE a Harry Potter RPG where you create your own student, choose what classes you want to specialize in, and go from year 1-7 and ultimately decide whether you want to join Voldemort or Harry in attacking/defending the castle. And it'd be awesome to have a quiz like in Fallout to determine what house you're going to be in.
It isn't going to happen because game companies in general dislike the idea of movie inspired video games nowadays. It's a good thing Star Wars is still modern though.
Wait hold up a second. Anyone remember Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on the PC? It was a Zelda style Harry Potter game, and it was fantastic - if a little easy. Also had a great soundtrack. It was composed by the dude who went on to do the Elder Scrolls soundtrack.
It is actually a shame since the first two harry potter games based on the first two films were actually good, had things from the book that were missing from the movies and had a lot of fun stuff to do and explore, I think it is because they were old fashioned platformers rather than shooters which to be honest were pretty fun, it was the 3rd game when they messed up the games
You're probably thinking of the 4th, the 3rd game was amazing Imo. Btw, did you ever try out the GBA versions? They're great too, especially the 3rd, since it had alot of replayability thanks to the levelling system.
Tell me you're speaking about the pc version. I played harry potter 1 and 2 games on my playstation 1 and Oh my Gad. It was fucked up. Really fucked up. Who else remember all huge donjons inside poudlard who replace magic lessons ?
I liked 4, when you're playing with a friend it's fun. 5 and 6 were my absolute favorite, I really wish some company could get the license to all these games and release them all on one disc or something, similar to the Megaman Legacy collection, that way I can play them again.
Chamber of Secrets on the PS2 was a really great game. Still loved how you could drain all of Slytherin's house points by purposely getting caught in late hours while pretending to be Crab and Goyle with the polyjuice potion.
I thought Prisoner of Azkaban was really good when I was a kid, Exploration, puzzles, bunch of cool spells and decent combat. And flying around on Hippogriff was pretty cool.
+AzureKite619 man can you help me,i had a harry potter game when i was young and you had to go to class, develop skills, fly around ,basically bully but with harry potter and i cant remember the name of the game because i want to paly it again now
+AzureKite619 Hell yeah Prisoner of Azkaban was a lot of fun. The puzzles really frustrated the kid in me lol. The Harry Potter games on Ps2 were quite decent. They actually put some effort in them.
+RuiRuichi the last good one to me was order of the phenoix, it was pretty bad ass with a decent open world and spells....goblet of fire on ps2 was hit and miss in some sections, 3 was fun as hell, wish i still had it honestly, 2 was ok, not as good as 3 and i dont remember much of 1 on the ps1
The first 3 are pretty fun, with unique story lines and really fun free roam. You can play quiditch, and in the third, you can fly around the entire Hogwarts Ground on a broom.
gruu baa - I know your response was over a year ago but anyways: he doesn't say muggleborn is bad. He shows the clip then says how that's a bad word in the universe (meaning mudblood).
so true . i still remember playing harry potter and the sorceres stone , looking for secrets and playing some quidditch. or playing the world quidditch tournament game itself wich was also awesome . i do wish that another company would take over for these games and remake them to be actualy awesome
Joseph Franc Never played that one, but I had Chamber of Secrets on GBA, and while the Basilisk battle was pretty tame, the game itself was really fun and full of content :-)
+Joseph Franc Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban (the crowning of "old"system) and Half-Blood Prince (potions brewing was addicting as hell). Joe looks at "HP:CoD Edition" and calls previous games bad because of it. It's SAD
+Karol Nowak The last two games do feel half-assed, but the old ones were genuinely good. Especially the first three ones which was more puzzle-oriented than action. I remember using various magic spells in Prisoner of Azkaban to discover secrets throughout the school - It was good.
Joe you shouldn't judge an entire series of games by just playing two in the series. Especially if your playing the games that aren't representative of most of them. Most of the games 1-3, 5-6 are open world games set at Hogwarts castle. Where there are plenty of things to do. Such as doing side missions, finding secrets, and exploring the castle with the spells you learn throughout the game. Additionally in 1-3 there was a house point system in place. Doing things good for the school such as winning quittich matches, and doing well in certain side activities earned your house points. However doing activities considered bad by the school such as being caught by prefects past curfew or in restricted sections of the school would cause your house to lose points. At the end of the game, regardless of how well you completed the main plot you could still lose the house cup. I haven't played it all the way,but 4 seemed like a top down shooting gallery and i didn't like that. However the other games in the series excluding 4 and both 7s are generally good games to me. In 2 you could free fly on Harry's nimbus 2000 around the Hogwarts's grounds. In 3 you could play as Harry, Ron, and Hermione each with their own special abilities. In 5 they introduced a new system of spell casting where instead of hitting a button to cast a spell you would have to move the analogue sticks in certain configurations, and in dueling EVERY spell was useful in some way. Spamming stupefy or any spell that matter in a duel would get you disarmed and beat fast.(on the Ps2 version) In 6 they expanded on that spell casting system, and refined the dueling even more. They also added several mini games such as potion making which was challenging, but the challenge didn't come from unresponsive controls (at least not on the wii) I couldn't speak for any of the spin off games other than Quittach world cup (which i thought was fun with friends), but I'd say over all the harry potter series of games is mostly good with a few bad apples in the mix. Btw your memory charms are horrible angry joe.
JoeMomma81 I own 2 and 3. However, I cannot get past the part where you have to fight the hinkypunks after you get Lumos Duos. During the mission where you're trying to save Neville. JHJHRHSUFHIOHFIUHIUORAJOASHHFSHFDUIAHIUFSIUF FUCKING HATE IT!
The EA games for Book/Movie 5 and 6 were *good* .. the fighting was kinda meh.. it did the job. But you *explored* Hogwards, had classes, fights and you *did* get extra info, talk to the portrats, discover hidden pathways to sneak through the castle.. Hell I got lost half the time because Hogwarts felt *huuuuuge*! But they even took care of that "problem" by having you use the twins' Map, which showed you through little appearing footprints how to get to your destination the quickest, even taking into account secret shortcuts through portraits you already discovered!.. It was totally fine, although the fighting was kinda slow and underwhelming - *although* the spells all made sense. You had to make special movements with your controller sticks to perform desperately needed spells. Expelliarmus was almost impossible to hit, because the enemy would deflect it, worst case upon yourself! - But Expelliarmus would (like the freezing spell) *end* the fight in your favor. Why? because people can't fight if they are frozen, disarmed or if they are hooked into the air by their feet leaving them to just hang there. This made *sense* ! Also I seem to remember you could deflect spells back at the caster by perfectly timing your shield charm! Amazing the more I think about it^^ This/These last games are horrible.
4-7 was horrible yeah with 5 and 6 you can explore but you honestly didn't do anything but walk around the Hogwarts :( At least with the first 3 games when you explored you could do side missions that was actually fun!
that's kind of what made it so cool, to be there exploring the castle, and from the two of them, i like TOOTP more, they literally took the blueprints made by Jo Rowling herself, and built the entire castle as she envisioned it, for you to free explore it... it was awesome as f**k
"And now, since magic mimics modern ballistic weapons, which is bullshit!!" This line still cracks me up. So great going back to this after the amazing Hogwarts Legacy
@@HotelMari0Maker I feel the same way about his videos and I just recently started watching him too lol😅 that RAMBO review is beautiful LMAO "he's a man not a god!" Ever since then I've been binging all his videos haha
first 3 were great! The fourth was TERRIBLE! because they changed the format from open world to missions but they changed it back and the fifth and sixth were great games.
I actually have a sweet tooth for the 4th game, it isn't my favorite in the series at all, but it was really cool! my favorite has to be the 5th, 2nd favorite is the 1st
other joe: you want a play a zom-- joe:not this time I know how to defeat you this time hi Joe you want to play other Joe: no please God no Joe: you want to play harry potter game other Joe: noooooo
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, and Prisoner of Azkaban we're all awesome on PC as a kid. The console variations were a bit muddled and different from their PC counterparts but still solid. (I own the trilogy on PS2.) But PC was where it was at. I loved those games as a kid.
Shubham Gaikwad It's a Twitch emote. twitchemotes.com/emote/_Kreygasm_ It is often used when you describe something that's really good or you like it very much. So good, that you have a *Kreygasm*
They should make a RPG game, that follows the storyline of all 7 books. You follow the entire plot and storyline of every books, and all the unimportent subplots is sidequests, like the birthday party for the no headed ghost in book 2 is a little sidequest. That could be a very good and long game, if the gameplay is topnotch. They could allso split it in 2 so the first game is book 1-4 and the second is 5-7 that would be awesome.
Chamber of Secrets on the GBC and Prisoner of Azkaban on the GBA were RPG styled. They followed the books and movies rather close. Chamber of Secrets even had Nearly Headless Nick's Deathday party as well as Quidditch. The sad thing is EA made all of the Harry Potter games (as far as I know) and all of the previous games (Half-Blood Prince down) were good. EA is just becoming a garbage company, I suppose.
+Katen Barnard The only thing good about 5 was Hogwarts. 4 was linear as hell, but at least the combining spells mechanic was interesting, and it was fun to try and complete. But yeah, 1-3 were definitely the best (except for 2 GBA version, fuck that game)
don't even that movie was a Fuckin disgrace I just watched it to laugh at the whole thing but the first time I practically cried over it and definitely when it takes 5 earth benders and 10 hand movements to lift one boulder and that was where I left it
Lycan Ferret Awhile ago, Joe reviewed the Last Airbender moive, and wonder if the anime was good or not. Now i'm commenting to say this is how fans of the anime felt when the moive came out badly, way worse actually lol
Micheal Taylor it was worse imagine your favorite show at the time get's turned into a joke when they could make it amazing they give you trash like with this harry potter game although I could understand if they had little money on the budget but still make it seem like you tried it's just as horrible as the play the Avatar gang went to even the DB movie they made sucked I mean really piccolo looks like THAT and the fights are BS.(I could rant on and on but I feel more like listening to Disturbed)
Lycan Ferret I don't need to imagine it,because I already seen it. Eversince I was younger ,I use to watch avatar series and loved the entire series. . .I grew up kinda with the show so I know :( Im just giving Joe a compression >.
HP games: 1 - I rented it once as a kid, can't really remember it. 2 - Very good. Introduced the free-roam system to the series and had a cool, almost RPG-like atmosphere. Even better for a kid. 3 - Amazing, I have very fond memories of it. Expanded on both elements of 2. 4 - Sucked. Way different from 2 & 3, very linear. 5 - A great breath of life. Brings back the "open-school" style, with improved graphics and bigger stories. 6+ I never played....for obvious reasons. I still think positively of the HP series of games for, along with the book/movies, for introducing me to the fantasy genre and being fun games to boot. As Joe said, a full Harry Potter RPG would be really cool. Maybe someday...
+Pajdo Velicanstveni They had a harry potter RPG for the Game Boy Colour of all things, one of my favorite games of all time, i just beat it for the x time a few days ago.
The first three HP games very actually very enjoyable. There were decent combat, story and even side missions where you could find bits and pieces of lore. Ultimately, if I remember correctly the soundtrack in Hogwarts was absolutely awesome. I know that the nostalgia forces me to overlook certain cons, yet I would recommend the first three games to any HP fan. :)
4:16 - "it was nerdy or uncool to like Harry Potter" Are you kidding me? All throughout my childhood, when a HP movie came out in theatres, at least 70% of my classmates, as well as my teachers, would start conversations with "Did you see Harry Potter?" the next day. As the years went on, that percentage grew, because people figured out that the movies would be spoiled if you didn't catch it on release day. I wish I were exaggerating. Actually...no I don't. It was probably the only time I ever fit in, and was capable of speaking without being ridiculed for no reason by cunts. It seriously has to have been one of the most popular movie series', at least where I live, where it was considered nerdy or uncool to NOT like Harry Potter, no matter what your age, either. Heck, except for the first movie, every time I went to see a HP movie in theaters, the entire audience would cheer like they'd been waiting decades for it, as the opening scene, or title screen came up. Where was it considered nerdy or uncool to like it? I feel sorry for anyone who got called nerdy or uncool for liking HP.
***** I feel you might have been the exception. I remember everyone and their moms (literally) were going crazy about every film when it came out. The first came out when I was 8 and almost every kid in my elementary, cousins elementary, and my other cousins high school were all amped for it. There are 3 big theaters near me and ever since the first one, every single Harry Potter movie would always be packed for weeks. You'd always see people walking around with Harry Potter merch, ranging from kids to adults. My family was actually in LA for a reunion when the Goblet of Fire came out, and our entire family decided to go see the film at IMAX and there was a swarm of people there as well, plus all my family from all over the US were talking about it.
What I want to see, an epic RPG taking place during the first Wizard War with Voldemort as a character that you create yourself. Dialogue choices that affect the story in some way (there's so much room to work with here, we only know bits of the first war). Maybe the finale is a big ass duel with Voldemort and it's an unwinnable fight or maybe you can win by surviving until Dumbledore shows up to save your ass and you get a good ending where you survive until the 2nd Wizard War and it could be a Red Dead Redemption type ending where Voldemort shows up after his return to take you down personally. You send your family off into hiding because it's you he wants and go outside to be insta-killed. Imagine a game where you're trying to recruit various factions to go against Voldemort, factions who might have a reason to not want to help you. That shit would be awesome. You get new weapons in the form of new wands and maybe the reward for beating the game on the hardest difficulty or getting 100% is access to the Elder Wand which trounces everybody.
I normally would completely agree with Joe, but here I just can't. You can't justify judging every game in a series based on two games. Harry Potter 1-3 were actually VERY good games. I honestly recommend playing them.
I do apologise for sounding rude but don't judge earlier installments of a series by the newest ones. The earlier Harry Potter games were actually fun, had challenges and side missions, and weren't basically Call of Duty: Magical Warfare. Note that by earlier Harry Potter games, I meant Philosopher's Stone, Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban. Goblet of Fire was a piece of shit and I haven't played any of the others yet
Scootaboom Studios Personally I loved the first 3 games, they were childish, sure, but they had the HP charm. These games, and even the last 4 movies.... ehh.
What on earth happened to the fantastic sense of adventure and brilliance that was manifest in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on ps2. That game was so fun, you could wander through Hogwarts at night with the oddly satisfying stealth mechanics; collecting wizard cards was actually fun and the fact that it didn't follow on perfectly from the movie, allowing you to explore the open and diverse world was a godsend. Whoever made that game needs to get back to working on the franchise because although I played that game as a child, I would play it again now. Fantastic!
I own 5 and 6 on the Wii, and both of those are actually pretty good. 5 is more like the Lego series versions, where there are a variety of things to interact with and you are rewarded for finding and exploring everything. Hogwarts is pretty huge and is adapted from both the films and the real castle and sets. 6 looks better than 5 and the wizard duelling is much better, but the interactivity is greatly lowered. I did enjoy the more creative made-up versions of Hogwarts present in earlier games, but 5 and 6 were both great adaptations of the films.
I know, right? I totally agree. But the pc version of chamber of secrets is a lot better than the ps2 one. Give it a try :) you'll love it. It's very different than the ps2 one.
Portalguy1000 I recently played through my box set of the first three PC games and I'd say the second is the best overall. You can see potential in the first, and oddly enough its most challenging elements (learning spells and Quidditch) are its most endearing aspects, but it's poor in most other ways. The second has a lot to explore, plus now you can actually redo most challenges and explore freely, which the first sorely lacked. The third looks the best and is nice in that it includes Hermione and Ron as playable characters, but has less content than 2.
the other HP games (up to Goblet of Fire, at least) are actually pretty good SECRET OF CHAMBERS HAS FULL OPEN-WORLD EXPLORATION OF HOGWARTS SO IT'S BASICALLY GTA IN HARRY POTTER
I've only played Harry Potter 5 & 6 on the Wii and I gotta say Joe, they were pretty awesome games. You could explore Hogwarts in an open world setting with cool wand dueling mechanics. So I can't believe you called all the other games a waste of money with one fell swoop.
A lot of older stuff are better then the new ones in this generation apparently, which is rather sad. Not because of the "nostalgia" bull crap, but because things like video games actually do play better then the new ones. That's not to say that they're all terrible or anything, but it just feels like that the more stuff come in, the more bland and stupid that they get. And this pretty much goes out for everything else in entertainment as well. I hope that one day, we will get decent movie licensed games again, and not crap like these, Iron Man 2, Battlefield, Thor, Green Lantern, Amazing Spider-Man 2, etc.
Order of the Phoenix is too easy. There was absolutely no challenge. I prefer to play games with challange in them, I don't like game where you can just waltz through in a couple of hours.
I really think that the two last games is the only games that`s near unplayable. The 6 other games were actually very descent exept for the 4th. The 3 first games is among the best movie games ever made
I had a harry potter game marathon and i gave up on 5 i really thought it sucked. I cant say much about the newer once but as you said the first 3 games where and still are good games.
5 and 6 were pretty much the same game with different missions, i found them really bad. i beat both in 4h with 100% "secrets". but yes, 1st 2nd and 3rd for playstation. holy fucking hell, those were amazing. i had 1st for psx, 2nd for pc and 3rd for ps2. really different gameplays, all amazing (even though i played all of them in the pc eventually and 2nd/2rd were pretty similar)
José Cuesta Well, I kind of assumed he meant the 6th gen version, but thinking about it now he might have meant the ps1 version, which was pretty good. However, the Gamecube, Xbox, and PS2 versions of Sorcerer's Stone came out in 2003, a year after Chamber of Secrets.
If they ever decide to make a GOOD game for Harry Potter (hopefully an RPG), I think it should be based on the novel series rather than the movies. It would have a more fleshed out lore and more NPCs and side quests etc...
Some of the games do use a mixture of elements from books and films, sometimes with some new ideas thrown in. IIRC 3 on the PC even features Peeves and you get to battle with him.
The second harry potter game (on pc because that's the only platform I played it on) was actually a very hood game. It had a good amount of collectables to get that gave you massive rewards for collecting them. If you are going to play any of the harry potter games please play 1-3. 1 was ok. 2 was an improvement of 1. And 3 was just a slightly more mature version of 2.
I love Angry reviews, but how ignorant of you Joe to assume that all the previous games were this bad. The Philosopher's Stone and The Chamber of Secrets were both superb PC games. The first one was fleshed out yet on rails, but it had clever design, great puzzles, and a great feeling of scale that made you want to play through to the end. The Chamber of secrets took all of that, and put it on Steroids. It was open world, there were lots more collectables, you could play the Quidditch Cup, there were loads of side activities, lots of spells, and a clever rock paper scissors wizard Duelling game. It took ages to completely beat those games, and you owe them both an apology.
***** Exactly, but he says in the video that he thinks all the previous games must have played the same way as these two he's reviewed, and I'm simply stating the fact that the earlier games played nothing like these ones.
I actually came here to see where people got the disturbed references off of that where completely irrelevant to the thing I was watching so when I saw it was on an AJS video I came here just to see'em
TBH I don't think the games of years 1-3 were that bad. As in the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube versions of the games, not the PC, and PS1 versions. All 3 were free roam games set in Hogwarts. In 1 and 2 you could fly around the grounds on your broom, there was a lot of collectibles and it had challenges where you had to look for a spellbook in a Zelda like dungeon. And the spell you learn by collecting that book helps you progress through the game. 3 was pretty much the same, except for the fact that you could switch between Harry, Ron, and Hermione whenever you wanted, and instead of using your broom, you could ride Buckbeak around the grounds. 4 went in a completely different direction becoming a beat em up level based game instead, which ruined the experience for many players, myself included. 5 and 6 brought back the open world free roam aspect of the first three games, which I enjoyed, and since I played the Wii versions that meant that magic was done using the Wii's motion controls (which worked really well by the way). So I liked years 5 and 6. And then there were the Deathly Hallows games. Which I'm not going to talk about because Angry Joe summed up my opinion on them perfectly.
Honestly, the older Harry Potter games were kind of good. Although I does not entirely count in the way of what he is talking about, Lego Creator Harry Potter and it's sequel Lego Creator Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets were not only pretty cool and fun sandbox games, but they were the first sandbox games I had ever played, LCHP even had a spell book with spells that you could either cast yourself, or take control of a mini-figure with a wand and make them cast it instead.
11 years later we finally have the Harry Potter RPG that Joe requested... and it is fking AWESOME!!! I am 26h in currently, and I have only covered about 1/4th of the entire map. The game is said to take about 20-30h storywise or about 70-80 if you go for everything, and I while I don't know exactly how far along I am, I am just having so much fun living the Hogwarts life as my own student, that I don't care how long I am taking. I mean you can fast travel between fireplaces, but what's the fun in that? Hogwarts has faithfully been recreated down to the smallest detail, so I wanna experience it by walking everywhere - I AM a Hufflepuff afterall, know for our patience and dedication.
Chamber Of Secrets, Order Of The Phoenix, and The Half-Blood Prince were pretty good games. I played a little bit of Goblet Of Fire and it was alright, but I have never played The Philosopher's Stone or Prisoner Of Azkaban.
I played 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and I think that they were all pretty ok. 1 and 2 for the ps 1 was really fun the third and the fourth was meh and the fifth not to bad besides combat and it bugging out so i cloudn't finish it and is a game breaking bug but at least i found it funny so play those if you can. I don't know about the sixth game however. Is it any good? Please let me know
Zyxarax Man, it's been a long time... It's pretty good, lots to explore and do, combat can bore you but in the end it's alright... But it has been years since I played it, but I know it's worth it
I remember playing 1, and 2 as kid. Those were actually quite fun. 2 had huge open world in hogwards, and loooooooads of content to explore and play. i actually played it trough many times. Also, harry potter 1 was awesome game on gameboy color. All the collectible cards, huge amount of lvls, spells to master and different enemies made it like 5x longer than the last games. Well done next gen games
I replayed it recently. It wasn't as amazing as I remembered, but it was still pretty good. Probably 65% from me (on my scale (if I ever do reviews) that's actually saying the game is good, not just ''okay'').
Eskimo Yep. 40% being ''passable'', 30% being ''bad'', 20% being ''rubbish'', 10% being ''atrocious'' and anything lower is...well, haven't come up with one for those. XD
I still have that game, and I revisit it every now and then. You know why? BECAUSE EVEN AFTER YEARS I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO BEAT THAT PIECE OF SHIT. Sorry for getting out of hand.. It's a subject near and dear to my heart...
i completed that game on the PC version 6 times on a laptop without a external mouse when i was 7-8.... until i lost the Cd for the game which i still haven't found.
@@eternalbeing3339 just saw it too, games a hit but of course everyone who has put in at least ten hours into it knows this game is truly remarkable, I gotta get back to playing it.
I remember playing the first harry potter game when I was a kid and I liked it alot! Flying with broom, exploring the castle but that's all I remember. :)
The book is called the Sorcerer's Stone, but in the States it's officially called the Philosopher's Stone because religious groups would be on their asses because Wizards are enemies of God and Harry Potter is evil because you don't make warlocks into heroes and blah blah blah blah blah. TL;DR Religious idiots hate Harry Potter
Yeah, it was released as the Sorcerer's Stone instead of the Philosopher's Stone in the U.S. Not sure why. Probably had something to do with religion or...something.
David Vaughn It's because apparently sorcerer sounds more exciting and Americans don't know what the fuck a philosopher is. And that's very true XD probably anyway. Or they can't pronounce philosopher or have trouble pronouncing it. Like laura Croft Changed to Lara and americans STILL GET IT WRONG! ESPECIALLY JOE
surprised no one has created a Harry Potter RPG yet. You start as a student in your first year just grow up as a hogwarts student
Omfg yes, imagine if they remastered the Quidditch World Cup game
that would be amazing (but not an mmorpg since while it would be cool the spells wouldn't work)
Make it like mass effect.

And it'd be awesome to have a quiz like in Fallout to determine what house you're going to be in.
It isn't going to happen because game companies in general dislike the idea of movie inspired video games nowadays. It's a good thing Star Wars is still modern though.
soulslasher7890 Actually, Girlfriend recently introduced me to Wizard101. Which is close enough I suppose even if its a kids game.
soulslasher7890 Come on. THIS IS GENIUS!
soulslasher7890 I dunno the upcoming mad max game looks epic, even better than the movie

@@GigaChadDuPlessis prisoner of Azkaban was pretty lit too
Wait hold up a second. Anyone remember Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on the PC? It was a Zelda style Harry Potter game, and it was fantastic - if a little easy. Also had a great soundtrack. It was composed by the dude who went on to do the Elder Scrolls soundtrack.
I didnt play the PC version, but the GC version was amazing. Really nice soundtrack, great exploration and the atmosphere was great.
Yea it was good
Late_Bloc_Party That game is one of my favourite games of all time. Awesome!
Yes that was a good game
Late_Bloc_Party oh ya it was a pretty good game. I played 1-3 all wee good. I quit after goblet of fire cause it was levels not explore the castle.
The fifth was good too.
The third fifth and sixth where awesome
The first 3 are good imo but after 3 the games became shit.....the 4th was forgettable n the 5th game was garbage
First 3 HP games were pretty fun action adventure games
The 4th one was really shit
The 5th and 6th one were decent open world games
gogolplex74 True.
gogolplex74 harry potter 5 and 6 are the best :D
I liked 4, when you're playing with a friend it's fun. 5 and 6 were my absolute favorite, I really wish some company could get the license to all these games and release them all on one disc or something, similar to the Megaman Legacy collection, that way I can play them again.
Don't forget the GBA games. Those were surprisingly good too.
PS1 Hagrid is my waifu
Chamber of Secrets on the PS2 was a really great game.
Still loved how you could drain all of Slytherin's house points by purposely getting caught in late hours while pretending to be Crab and Goyle with the polyjuice potion.
So is sorcerer stone for ps2 it a rare game and online it expensive but it’s worth it
@@princenoreally But it doesn't have the flying car, only the PS1 version does.
'Stupefy'? I wonder what ever happened to the classic 'Flipendo' from the earlier movies?

Odd thing is, Flipendo was just made up from the first HP game. It's never been mentioned in any movie or book, from what I know.
memestarmarlow it was in the first book
I thought Prisoner of Azkaban was really good when I was a kid, Exploration, puzzles, bunch of cool spells and decent combat. And flying around on Hippogriff was pretty cool.

I just despised those nighttime sections. They sp00ked me.
+AzureKite619 I played the first 3 with a girl I was crushing on at the time. They were quite fun to play.
+AzureKite619 Hell yeah Prisoner of Azkaban was a lot of fun. The puzzles really frustrated the kid in me lol. The Harry Potter games on Ps2 were quite decent. They actually put some effort in them.
+RuiRuichi the last good one to me was order of the phenoix, it was pretty bad ass with a decent open world and spells....goblet of fire on ps2 was hit and miss in some sections, 3 was fun as hell, wish i still had it honestly, 2 was ok, not as good as 3 and i dont remember much of 1 on the ps1

angry joe would be even MORE ANGRY if he knew the old games WERE GOOD and the series was butchered.
I'm a firm believer that Chamber of Secrets had the best PS2 game
I preferred the PC version. Didn't stop me from enjoying the PS2 version.
Man the original HP games on PC + PS1 were my childhood!! sick games xD
so true . i still remember playing harry potter and the sorceres stone , looking for secrets and playing some quidditch. or playing the world quidditch tournament game itself wich was also awesome . i do wish that another company would take over for these games and remake them to be actualy awesome
Back then HP games weren't movie lincensed. The evil began with the fourth game.
Even on GBA was pretty good.
@@darthportus 5 and 6 were both much better than 4.
The spell that Joe used on other Joe. Expellramus shittygamus was perfect. I was laughing so hard
I'm baffled at how you didn't even try out the older games before calling the entire franchise shit.
+Joseph Franc - I know right? It sounded like he hadn't even LOOKED at them.
PikaLink91 I've never actually played them but their was a VERY cool gameboy advance rpg like game that was really fun to play. I thought it was cool.
Spamming stupefy or any spell that matter in a duel would get you disarmed and beat fast.(on the Ps2 version)
In 6 they expanded on that spell casting system, and refined the dueling even more. They also added several mini games such as potion making which was challenging, but the challenge didn't come from unresponsive controls (at least not on the wii)
I couldn't speak for any of the spin off games other than Quittach world cup (which i thought was fun with friends), but I'd say over all the harry potter series of games is mostly good with a few bad apples in the mix.
Btw your memory charms are horrible angry joe.
1-3 and 5-6 are great and i completely agree with u. 3 is my absolute favorite. Quidditch world cup was fun but the load times were unbearable
Diego Armando lol
have you tried using a walk-through?
xertris I DID! IT WON'T FUCKING LOCK ON!

Amazing the more I think about it^^
This/These last games are horrible.
agree with u mate...just loved the order of the phoenix...

4:16 - "it was nerdy or uncool to like Harry Potter"
Are you kidding me?

I feel you might have been the exception.

Oh, it's definitely a sir.
ok?
You get new weapons in the form of new wands and maybe the reward for beating the game on the hardest difficulty or getting 100% is access to the Elder Wand which trounces everybody.
fly off to the right and explode, fly off to the right and explode. Oh wait.. wrong review
I normally would completely agree with Joe, but here I just can't. You can't justify judging every game in a series based on two games. Harry Potter 1-3 were actually VERY good games. I honestly recommend playing them.

+AwesomeWinter I loved spyro but in the ps2 days!
The 6th was pretty cool too
+Kevin Jones only if I get them numbers first :)
Kevin Jones "I'm a really nice guy." - Kevin Jones
I do apologise for sounding rude but don't judge earlier installments of a series by the newest ones. The earlier Harry Potter games were actually fun, had challenges and side missions, and weren't basically Call of Duty: Magical Warfare.
Note that by earlier Harry Potter games, I meant Philosopher's Stone, Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban. Goblet of Fire was a piece of shit and I haven't played any of the others yet
Order of the Phoenix was pretty good.

Scootaboom Studios Personally I loved the first 3 games, they were childish, sure, but they had the HP charm. These games, and even the last 4 movies.... ehh.

HP 5 and 6 are also quite fun

+Ironkevman 151 yes the soap made me sick
Agreed, Soap is by far the worst. My favourite was the Blueberry bean.
Are you serious? Rotten egg and vomit were the worst, imo. >.< Soap was relatively tame in comparison.
Vomit tastes and smells like actual vomit, I was gagging and I hadn't even eaten it yet.

I recently played through my box set of the first three PC games and I'd say the second is the best overall.
Portalguy1000 Perhaps I'll pick it up if I get the chance. Why is it better, may I ask?
***** Well, it's different than the PS2 version and it's a different version of the same game, but with different levels, spells, design etc.
Aaah back when Other Joe could barely act, nothing like their current hilarious performances. XD
the other HP games (up to Goblet of Fire, at least) are actually pretty good
SECRET OF CHAMBERS HAS FULL OPEN-WORLD EXPLORATION OF HOGWARTS SO IT'S BASICALLY GTA IN HARRY POTTER
mew826 Those first 3 games where my childhood...then I played the Kinect game...
chamber of secrets?
I've only played Harry Potter 5 & 6 on the Wii and I gotta say Joe, they were pretty awesome games. You could explore Hogwarts in an open world setting with cool wand dueling mechanics. So I can't believe you called all the other games a waste of money with one fell swoop.
no1ymfan1 Truth.
That is true. The only hp games that I thought were complete trash were the games in this review and goblet of fire.
Hell ya
Clover 147 Goblet of Fire on game boy is the worst thing ever.
I played harry potter and chamber of secrets on ps1 and it was great
*takes out soma...and aims...
*****
Rhino says hi.
***** Harry potter 2 was actually ported to ps2 and that's where I played it.
***** uur mums a distastfull insult
***** Why do you never drop the Dread? T_T Stalker stop giving me so much Despair and Hate!
the older games are more fun than this.
The older games are great.
+Flatbaby i only played the first game and it is better than this piece of shit. Fucking unbelievable...
Battlefields is not a movie
wow am i really watching this in 2019 lool
Ye

2020 bois
October 2020, and i seriously miss the 2011 days...
Trust me, there have been lots of other crappy Harry Potter games, but 1,2,3 and 5 were great
I agree with 1, 2, and 3, but 5 was bad.
Dipper723 why? It has great graphics and you can still walk around Hogwarts and discover secrets. It's pretty much the same thing.
I still think chamber of secrets remains one of my all time favorite adventure games. That shit was so frickin good. I want to play it again...
yea the first 3 games were very good , it has exploration , mini games , fun collectibles , secrets and is FUN
The sorcerers stone game was really REALLY good.
It was just a carbon copy of the gamecube/ps2/Xbox versions of Chamber of Secrets though.
Andrew Shaw How can a game that came out a year before be a copy of a game that came out a year later?
José Cuesta Well, I kind of assumed he meant the 6th gen version, but thinking about it now he might have meant the ps1 version, which was pretty good. However, the Gamecube, Xbox, and PS2 versions of Sorcerer's Stone came out in 2003, a year after Chamber of Secrets.
Yes I was referring to the PS1 game, GODDAMN that game was da shit!
ryukishifan0396 Yeah I liked it. It's actually pretty fun despite a bit of hand holding.
This was not the Harry Potter review from Angry Joe I was expecting to see in my YT feed this week.
If they ever decide to make a GOOD game for Harry Potter (hopefully an RPG), I think it should be based on the novel series rather than the movies. It would have a more fleshed out lore and more NPCs and side quests etc...
Ive only played the second game when i was a kid, and i believe it was a RPG game. and it was in my opinion great.
hmm, would you recommend it to me if it's available on Steam? :)
Not on steam. sorry
Some of the games do use a mixture of elements from books and films, sometimes with some new ideas thrown in. IIRC 3 on the PC even features Peeves and you get to battle with him.
POA on gameboy advanced is an rpg, as well as COS and SS on the gameboy color
i had chamber of secrets on pc and quite liked it, unfair of him to talk shit about the older harry potter games he never played :/
Yep
The second harry potter game (on pc because that's the only platform I played it on) was actually a very hood game. It had a good amount of collectables to get that gave you massive rewards for collecting them. If you are going to play any of the harry potter games please play 1-3. 1 was ok. 2 was an improvement of 1. And 3 was just a slightly more mature version of 2.
I might be wierd but i liked all of the games
I liked 1 and 2 alot they were very enjoyable. I was like 6 at the time so my judgement of games wasnt very good but for that age they were ^^.
Aleksandar Lazarov you are weird xD
***** His opinion is that games he has never played must be the same as the games he has played? Right.
***** Exactly, but he says in the video that he thinks all the previous games must have played the same way as these two he's reviewed, and I'm simply stating the fact that the earlier games played nothing like these ones.
Only thing that sucked were the loadingscreens after every door you go trough :p
13:02 "Don't worry, I'll open the door."
JUST PUSH THE DAMN DOOR!
Oh Joe when he put up that disturbed vid made my freaking day right there XD
deffinetly! xD
Although I does not entirely count in the way of what he is talking about, Lego Creator Harry Potter and it's sequel Lego Creator Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets were not only pretty cool and fun sandbox games, but they were the first sandbox games I had ever played,
LCHP even had a spell book with spells that you could either cast yourself, or take control of a mini-figure with a wand and make them cast it instead.
i know i liked they games
I'm 5 years late, but the previous games were pretty awesome
Chamber Of Secrets, Order Of The Phoenix, and The Half-Blood Prince were pretty good games. I played a little bit of Goblet Of Fire and it was alright, but I have never played The Philosopher's Stone or Prisoner Of Azkaban.
Remember Flipendo? Ah...the good ol' days.
I hope it will be back
At least as a charm or battle spell
on the intro, Other joe got back at Angry Joe through zombie games
I owned Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban, and it was actually pretty good. Then again I was very young
Harry Potter 1-3 were in fact pretty ok games..
Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban were decent games. I also enjoyed Goblet of Fire on PSP.
I remember enjoying the the Goblet of Fire on PSP, looking back its one of my all time favourite PSP games (at least in top 25)
Andrew Ryan I remember playing The Chamber Of Secrets! You could charge up your spells so they were more powerful and looked cooler!
Andrew Ryan Half blood prince was okay. (although, i wouldn't know, it was the only game in the entire series I've actually played).
I also heard Order of the Pheonix was pretty good too. I remember GameTrailers gave an 8.0 I believe.
Andrew Ryan I saw a comment saying it was the worst. :/
I lost it at the Disturbed reference.
It's so fun going back and watching angry AngryJoe's review
The other games of the series are MUCH MUCH MUCH more fun... maybe part 4 sucks but that's it
5 and 6 were good
Noah Gough I didn't play 5 but my favourite is 3
I played 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and I think that they were all pretty ok.
But it has been years since I played it, but I know it's worth it
CATboss001 Thanks maybe I'll check it out ;)
I remember playing 1, and 2 as kid. Well done next gen games
and the 5 x is just like.. a playtrough ran as fast as possible..
***** same here :D i liked the way the movie's changed darker and darker when it came to an end.
Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets (PS2) wasn't that bad. I was like 8/9 years old so it was pretty hard for me when I played it
I replayed it recently. It wasn't as amazing as I remembered, but it was still pretty good. Probably 65% from me (on my scale (if I ever do reviews) that's actually saying the game is good, not just ''okay'').
50% being average?
Anyone watching this while playing Hogwarts Legacy?? 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Watching after the review that he just released.
@@eternalbeing3339 just saw it too, games a hit but of course everyone who has put in at least ten hours into it knows this game is truly remarkable, I gotta get back to playing it.
I have the old HP Chamber of Secrets for the Game Cube and played the 3rd one. I remember enjoying those because you could actually go to classes.
I'll have a whole new respect for Joe if he reviews/streams Hogwarts Legacy, you know exactly why.
Who else is watching this, in celebration of the release of "Hogwarts Legacy?"
The way Joe closed the box perfectly in less than a second was impressive
Some of Joe's newer stuff is good but nothing beats classic Joe.
I remember playing the first harry potter game when I was a kid and I liked it alot! Flying with broom, exploring the castle but that's all I remember. :)
Wait Americans call it the sorcerers stone
The book is called the Sorcerer's Stone, but in the States it's officially called the Philosopher's Stone because religious groups would be on their asses because Wizards are enemies of God and Harry Potter is evil because you don't make warlocks into heroes and blah blah blah blah blah.
TL;DR Religious idiots hate Harry Potter
Yeah, it was released as the Sorcerer's Stone instead of the Philosopher's Stone in the U.S. Not sure why. Probably had something to do with religion or...something.
Dragonslammer Dunkstein You have it backwards. It's the Sorcerer's Stone in the U.S.
