That's called a Walk in Rescue truck. Used to carry supplemental firefighting equipment. Probably a 292 ford. Great condition and very low miles. Manufacturers often used lots of bondo to make the countours on the body. They had a unique exhaust note.
That is a Rescue Truck, used to carry auto extrication equipment (and other equipment) and firefighters to fires. Those cylinders are for compressed air, so firefighters can breath in smoke filled areas.
Back in the day there was a government group called the Civil Defense Agency. Their role was to provide aid if the country was attacked. They had a lot of vehicles similar to this that were surplused out and most of the rigs went to fire departments. Portland Fire had an old truck about that vintage that was used as a first responder truck company rig.It hauled ladders down the center aisle stacked up and the bins all held truck company tools like chainsaws ,breaching tools and many other pieces used by the Firefighters. That truck was badged as Truck 10 and served SE Portland for many years. I wonder if your truck has that history as part of its lineage?
I really think you should leave it as is. Get it running, driving, and stopping for sure, but for the most part, leave it as a hevy rescue truck. I think it's important to preserve history. Plus, all the lives it saved, the men that worked with that truck. I think it's important to save that history. The bottles on that truck are SCBA bottles. Self Contained Breathing Apparatus.
I had a 1962 ford with 292 V8. Ran 131 K sold it and it made 200k. Normal maintained and couple starters and thermostats were fairly regular replacement. Great engine. Leave it as is and if anything just open up inside for rv or go to track type use.
Had a 1958 ford f-800 fire truck 332 cubic inch v-8 Holley four barrel, the exhaust manifolds looked like cast iron headers. Ran down the road excellent
This would be an awesome truck to take parts to swapmeets in. Would not hurt either if you needed the space in it for parts OR to tow a new project home with.
That has to be a rare truck,,I can't imagine they made more than a few hundred of them,,And most of them are now probably in junk yards or compleatly scrapped ,,There may only be a few left,,On one hand if you keep it as is,,There's not really much you can do with it in daly life,,,On the other hand if you modify it you may be destroying the only one in existence,,It's a catch 22,,If you only payed 40 bucks,,I'd sell it to a collector of fire fighting cars and trucks,,,you'd surely get a few grand for it,,
Leave it as is but get it running and stopping. The backs of the seats remind me of what the back of school bus seats looked like many years ago (yeah before the safety padding they have now). If not for all the doors and compartments it could have made a nice sized RV, but leave it as it is now and maybe even reproduce the lettering type and use your own logos on the cab and rear doors With the engine since it does run and considering it was a bit snug turning over I'd fog the intake / valves with diesel/ATF mix or SeaFoam and flood the cylinders to soak for a few days, spin her over before putting the plugs back in and with the carb swap may just run even better, she'll smoke like a freight train for a minute
Excellent video :) also would get new Carburetor plus tune up also tune up what needs too ! That truck be running in no time flat and then test drive it too !
Build the ultimate tow rig turn it into a little camper/sleeping area with a Cummings with 6 speed manual keep the boxes by just cutting them way down well thats what I think love watching your UA-cam channel sir
I think it'd make a cool service truck. Tools, air, tires, and the like for a club race team. If it doesn't get too heavy, it'd prolly tow the car on a tilt bed too 😁
actually kinda suprised it *wasn't* diesel swapped already, but if you can find a good carb for it, leave the original gas engine in, 'cause it's perfectly fine. but whatever you do with it, make sure it gets "cars" eyes.
. Dude a cat motor would be very very cool. Who does that? No one !!! I would love to see that swap!!!!! But its gotta be slammed and have sick tall peterbuilt 80s style stacks!!!!!
It is a 1959 Heavy duty rescue truck built for the Lemoyne PA fire dept. Drove that peice lot.

Fire company was in Prince George's county but now is permanently closed

That's a cool idea I was thinking he should put a tow hitch on it so he can pick up other vehicles on a trailer and leave the body of the truck as is
Begging for a full, proper restoration. Great truck!
I vote to keep that sweet time capsule all original!!❤❤

That thing is awesome!
That truck is in crasy good condition. Congratulations.
Some of the old f700 f800 they put Lincoln Y block engines in for more power and they were totally different. I know this because I have one.

Is that the same rescue truck that sat outside of McConnellsburg, PA for an extended period?

Man! That thing is awesome! 41 bucks? Wow!!
I feel like I got a decent deal!
It’s a 58 model. I can tell by the emblem on the sides of the hood.
Such a cool, unique ride!
You should body swap that with one of those v10 Econoline buses like the nursing ones use and air bags it
Those shiny red areas look sweet!!!
DUDE! I’d absolutely love this exact ride, for mobile mechanic usage.. PERFECT AS IS! Willing to trade for ____?
actually kinda suprised it *wasn't* diesel swapped already, but if you can find a good carb for it, leave the original gas engine in, 'cause it's perfectly fine. but whatever you do with it, make sure it gets "cars" eyes.
Can I get one of those tanks to make a mini grill out of? They're steel right?
better be careful. it looks like there is a pressure plate bolt missing from the flywheel.. please check that.
Big Red! Thanks!!
Cool truck, dont mess it up
love it i would use it as a detail truck
Nice
Sounds like a WW2 Bomber firing up!!! lol
Get rid of those split rim tires! They'll kill ya' if yer' not careful... Nice find😁
New Sub'd here, best $41 spent, ever. Hmmm, should I buy this truck or an 8th of weed ?
Firing order is messed up or distribution is out of time
I need fire equipment for my fire truck
Rev the engine up and totally choke off the carburetor it will clean out the cobwebs
Gillian’s carb should work.
Was it possibly a movie prop
Make that ole girl a car/truck service revival truck!
Will it run? But will it hunt is the question?🇨🇦🤣
Needs 460 and don’t part it out it might one of the last ones of its kind
I see a Cummins swap in it's future
Awesome video Bud!!!!! What are you planning to do with the motor in it, if you decide to diesel swap it? I’d be really interested to know.
Man I’m so happy she runs, i think a nice 12v and 5 speed on 24.5s with air bags then I’ll get her back haha 😂
I'd so like that truck n wld use it 4 my business!!!
Heck clean it up make it a vending truck and do a fire mans menu
It's a part of a by gonna erra
Do a diesel swap bro
Richard runs his hands through his hair while sleeping.
Found it on side road.😅
Don't chop it up just motor swap it to a 12 valve Cummins make it a cruising truck or a daily driver with ac
I'll trade u a 80 square body chevy on 35s for it
13:20 🤣🤣🤣
run it
That is sick i wonder how a 7.3 godzilla or powerstroke would perform
I'm thinking some kind of powerstroke or a CAT engine
@@SimonsPowerhouse if a cat a 3208 would be cool not many people do it
. Dude a cat motor would be very very cool. Who does that? No one !!! I would love to see that swap!!!!!
But its gotta be slammed and have sick tall peterbuilt 80s style stacks!!!!!
Leave it original, clean it up and drive it
Scrap the tanks, don't resell them.
No, still good for collectors for show
RV project?
That's a 1958 ford f700
Cool to make it a rollback
I think definitely a diesel
Make a custom camper out of it??
Overpaid
And that was U.S. dollars not Canadian.
Take the cabinets out. add windows, and turn it into a RV.
