I'm 6'3 235 lbs. I stay with a chromoly frame and a top 21" + top tube length. 6061 aluminum isn't strong enough for big riders. 7000 series aluminum is strong BUT is incredibly sensitive to dents, nicks, scratches and similar damage. Where these frames are damaged is where they usually fail. 7000 series aluminum gives you very little warning before they fail. I've seen 7000 series aluminum head tubes/stear tubes snap off. Because there are usually no warning signs, you find yourself crashing having no clue wtf happend. One minute your riding and the next you eat it huge while having the handlebars still in your hand. It's like blowing a chain. It catches you completely off guard. I don't trust 7000 series aluminum to give me the heads up something is up. Chromoly frames have always been very strong, and if you've overstressed your frame and compromised its limits, almost always a crack develops somewhere. Let's say you come up short on a big set of doubles. You taco your rear wheel. Or even worse, you're endo into the inside of the double jump. And you taco your front wheel. Take a hard look at your frame welds. If you have damaged your frame, it likely will show up in a weld at the head / stear tube and or at the top tube / seat tube weld. Check your bottom bracket welds also. Chromoly is your friend and it talks to you. 7000 series aluminum is a punisher. It will punish for your error later down the road with no warning. Great video. I can use this info for my grandson. My 20" condor feels small and looks stupid. I'm 51 and 6 feet tall and ive been looking at 24inch bikes. Hi Ashley, For the first part of your question, yes your street beat will have entirely different geometry compared to a modern bike. If you are used to short top tubes and quite relaxed fork angle then the modern geometry of longer top tubes and steeper fork angles will feel odd. 24 inch cruisers allow for much more standover and length and verge on the edge of mountain bike sizing. You will feel more stretched out and more room on a 24 inch bike compared to a 20 inch and most people prefer them for commuting whilst still having a bit of fun
@@alansbmx thanks for getting back to me. I once bought a 27.5 mtb thinking that this would "feel" right but the top tube was way too high. Then I bought the 2012 condor anniversary frame set. Shitty bmx are cheap as a bag of chips…. Wouldn’t recommend going down that road I made the same mistake when I started. If you’re planning on riding often unless you love to work on your bike 8 hours a day and spend extra hundreds trying to upgrade it, be my guest if that’s the case. Just trying to help out I made the same mistake when I started just pull the trigger on a more expensive one. That 100-200$ difference will make or break a bike in bmx. cheaper bikes have a hard time running 3 piece cranks wheels usually go sideways brakes will mess up eventually everything just sucks about them. It’s a constant battle trying to have it be perfect and comfortable to ride. You will end up spending hundreds on parts like I did before you eventually snap and end up buying that nice bike you wanted highly would reccomend kink if you’re looking for a budget bmx that’s as cheap as a GOOD bmx gets right around 200$ other 200$ bikes don’t come close to kink

i wanna change my dangerous chinese folding bike for a BMX as they are as cheap as a bag of chips and i can throw it in the car
What is a folding bike?
I'm looking for an adult BMX bike as well. I miss these as a kid, they were awesome. Now Mtn bikes are everywhere.
You should pay for your shirt....
Don’t watch this video it doesn’t help you find any sizes if you’re a beginner like me and I’m trying to find a bite with fit see you it’s just a whole bunch of garbage talking around. We just get you more confused don’t recommend.
