I had no idea standover height and seat tube length were the same. I'm over here trying to figure out what to go off of comparing my complete bike to aftermarket frames because the standover height listed for it is including wheels and tires.
Thank you very much this video is great. Helped me out a ton to understand the geometry of a freestyle frame. I’m Looking to get a new setup so this video is what I needed for deep understanding. Thanks again!
Great explanation. My thing with tall standovers is some pro's are raising the S.O. higher so they can raise their seatpost without looking like there isn't that much post showing. I get it, but those 9.5 and up standovers look like a road bike frame. They didn't want to look silly with a lot of seatpost but now have a goofy frame. To each their own I guess.
I use different geometry for different styles of riding. On dirt I like my bars low and my seat up high enough for some jumping clearance. With freestyle riding I like the bars high( because of the gyro) and the seat up high enough to be almost standing up without it for seat/,post grabs.
Will do! I gotta question, whats that black bike with the teal tires when you're talking about measuring the BB and im just getting back into riding from over 20 years but isnt that stem on upside-down?
@@jawnlaughlin5 It's either a Stolen or a DK stock bike frame. I don't remember off hand but it's my daughters that we've just swapped parts around on over the years. The stem is inverted because it was too tall for her. Easy way to lower the bars without messing with anything else.
man, i need your help. i cant decide on what I wnt and/or where to find it. i know for sure I'm looking into titanium because I'm sick of my heavy bikes
I went to 12.75 from 13.75 cs and I gotta say it made a whole a lot of a difference. Also I run 20.75 top tube from 20.5 but I still don't feel the difference. I'm 5'4 btw.
This is literally the best geometry explanation video Ive ever seen. + 10 points for that trey clip and the wallride 180 on the dumpster
Thanks Doug!
I finally understand seat tube angle. Best explanation I've seen.
Thank you. It's definitely confusing at first.
I hate to say it but this was the best geometry video out there
Thanks for the info, all my life I been riding the wrong geometry, which makes it hard to learn any trick, my life was a lie 😢
lol at the "my life was a lie." line. I hope you found something that works for you!

Hey, want to change my wtp justice 2012 (20.25“) frame to a colony (21“) frame. Is the conversion even possible?
yeah prolly maybe a bit of new parts but yeah

Glad we could help!

Haha good point. That is one of the advantages/disadvantages with a tall standover.
That was pretty darn good

Love the cut away. Very informative information
In regards to BB height, its the measurement from a (imaginary) direct line between front and rear axle centres, to middle of BB, plus 10 inches.
You guys are killing it! Love your videos!
Thank you!
If only I would’ve seen this two days before I got mine
Awesome analysis! Thanks!👊🙏

Only one you didn't cover was fork offsets.
This video was specifically frames, but coincidently we shot a video on fork offset last week so that will be coming soon! Good timing, haha.
The Always Funny clips automatically get this video a thumbs up.
