I’m 37 years old. My daughter (8) got a Bmx. I usually ride a mountain bike. I sold it and bought a Bmx today. Very excited to start a new chapter! This is a great video for beginners!
I bought one again at 45 and would go to the skatepark early in the morning before anyone was there. Loved it! It was a perfect transition from the DJ bike.
One of the best intro videos --- low risk, high difficulty, and focused on bike control skills. Becoming one with the bike leads to more and more tricks. Even an experienced rider should continue practicing these skills. 👍
Dude, you are such a fucking gift to the BMX community, your attitude is just what the world needs. Yeah that sentence is cheesy as all fuck and I stand by it. Keep being yourself man.
This is by far one of the best BMX videos I have watched in a long time. What makes it great is your devotion and positive message. Viewers can observe your dedication in the filming and editing, as well as your progression as a rider. The apparent commitment is complimented with an all-comers welcome attitude. BMX is shown through a non bias and welcoming point of view. All riding is good riding is a common theme, showing that anyone can have fun on a bike. Please continue to produce content while staying true to your core values. Thank you
Exactly is a term meaning it is with absoluteness, or without discrepancy. Almost means nearly which leaves room for discrepancy. The terms conflict and shouldn't be used together. It would be like saying "I always never do this"

Just starting BMX after having skateboarded my entire life, but having issues with my pushoff foot. But I still yern to just cruise around downtown, and search for sick spots to hit. It sucks not being good physically like I used to. I'm 38, and REALLY falling in love with BMX! This video is a GREAT help. Thank you.
Remember watching this video late 2017 right after getting my bike and went out and mastered all of these things. The best thing you can do for yourself is finding a group of friends to hang out and have a good time riding bmx, Friends are a good way to progress and be competitive with. Today we had a highest hop contest and I was hoping a standing bike hight. I used to hop folded lawn chairs (laying down unfolded)in my driveway and barley make it over them. Bmx is the best thing that’s happened to me and as long as you have the mindset to strive to get better and are not afraid to try new things it will be the most fun you’ll ever have

I really liked your lighthearted approach to teaching basic BMX tricks. Not only did you make it easy to understand but you were doing things that no other video had talked about, so well done for giving some cool and basic ideas to building up your trick repertoire. Greetings from Australia 🦘🇭🇲
It's been a couple years since I saw this video but I did give these things a shot although granted haven't been able to spend much time BMXing here in Scotland for all kinds of reasons. One thing I did was get a bottle and just "kick" it around with my bike in different ways, hitting it with the tyres. It was really fun, helped me learn some of the intricate stuff for bike control. By the end of the night (yes, one night) I went from just being ok with that kind of stuff to really having fun with it. I was whipping the bottle with my back wheel and shit. I left at 2am and came back to my flat at 5 or 6am. Some of the reactions were quite good where I was too, drunk people stopping to watch me and shit haha. Keep doing you Spencer and thanks for making this video!
I was just about to comment last night when the transformer outside my apartment got struck by lightning and the power went out. Freaking loud. My ears were ringing. Any way, I just got a new bike and have only been riding for about a week (when it hasn't been raining). I've mainly been thinking of BMX as just exercise. I tried to do some of the harder tricks but got discouraged, but because of this video I'm now focusing only on having fun, hoping, and balance and I'm already seeing improvements. I can sometimes high hop now. Thank you for reminding me to have fun with this. Thank you for posting this video, and thank you Spencer! :)
literally just getting back into bmx since 10 years, i broke both my knees, and i was always afraid to start again, instead of dirttracks ill keep it on the street this time tho, so this is a great help man!!
waiting for my new bottom bracket to arrive along with my new seat post and pegs so i’m i’m the bench for a few days, your videos along with panza and billy are keeping me going 🤣
Thanks a lot. I may not have the BMX tricks, but I love the instant response it gives me when I'm pulling into my driveway at like 10 MPH or so. I really appreciate your tutorial. I'm still trying to get better air on my bunny hops, but whatever. I love the freedom BMX gives me. I ride Haro Bikes--like BMX Pro Mike Gray, or Grey. Thanks again, Mike
Dude, back in the late 80's / early 90's, you would have been considered a "soul rider"..as lame as that sounds now...and I would have rode with you every day. I still ride. I taught my boy all this stuff when he was seven. When I was growing up and playing in bands, there were tons of guys who could play the solo to some Metallica or Danzig song...but couldn't write a song of their own to save their lives. These guys are the equivalent to all the dudes learning bar spins and tail whips before they even know what it means to have your bike truly under control. You, sir, are the real side of BMX...and you've restored my faith that there is FREE in Freestyle.
You get a like and sub for being the only BMX youtuber I've seen heavily promoting helmet use. I've saved my life and limb plenty of times with helmets and pads!
This was great, Ive rode for several years, but that was over 10 years ago. I just ordered a stolen saint 24 and am STOKED to take it out to some parking lots! those lateral jumps look fun to master, never thought of that tbh

Just bought a nice BMX for my 8 year old. It's so fun to see him ride and to help him adjusting and working on it. I will for sure show him this video as inspiration to get his bike control going. Now a few days later, I want to ride myself. But I'm very BIG so I have to lose a lot of weight first. Guess I have a great goal now...
I had the same problem. Everything I am about to tell you will help a lot. (it did for me, at least) Put your seat up like 6 in or as high as it goes. this helps keep the bike under you. (you can lower it when you are more comfortable) Get a pair of gloves. Thank me later. If you have a trampoline, make a tramp bike. Words can't explain how much a tramp bike helps. If you dont have a trampoline, maybe take your wheels and cranks off and try them flat with your feet on each side. Feels dumb, but thats as close as you can get to the real thing. Once you are comfortable with the motion, find a flyout quarter and force yourself to throw them. It takes time
i always smack the crap out of my knee when i throw them i have to shift my feet on the pedals aaaalloot to get the bars past my knees ? i can pull up bar but it always feels like its going back into the ground too fast and it looks sketchy
I was prolly like 15 and 16 when I first watched this quarter conscious and now im 20 just bought a bmx and now im gonna try to commit to this, this very nostalgic I hope your doing good !!
been riding for 10+ years and learned tricks before bike control. I can backflip and barspin but i cant air out or manual.....yeah i know haha. ive been looking for someone who could break down the fundamentals of bike control and this is EXACTLY the type of tutorial concept I've been looking for. Thanks man
it’s okay haha, just keep practicing, i used to barely make it up bunny hopping up curbs in august and with lots of practice now i can bunny hop tire height .
This is good it's about time someone took the time off to show you how to ride BMX bike. I myself always wanted to learn how to do tricks on the BMX bike. So now this is my chance to learn I'm a beginner. I've been seeing guys do tricks on the BMX bikes and it's a beautiful thing. Especially when someone is very skilled and good. Thanks a lot my brother I will be looking at all your stuff.
43 just ordered a bmx first one, had mountain bikes as a kid. This is a really good video and thanks for the tips I'll watch again next week when my bike is delivered
Im 31 and I’ve been wanting to get into bmx for a while now, I’m waiting for my bike to come in the mail, and def cant wait to start learning tricks and freestylin
Lol I've ridden trials for 4 or so years now and even with a style that is almost 100% dedicated to bike control, I had a little bit of a reset from this video. Telling people on rides that I mostly play and study classical trombone always gets some funny responses, but the two things really couldn't be more similar in approach! Everything can always benefit from working on fundies.
Please keep making videos targeted to beginners. All the other beginner videos are the same shit every time. Your video had some different tricks and things to try along with the classics.
Cheers Spencer, I just started riding BMX this year, and appreciate you putting time into this. Unfortunately I slid off the side of a quarter pipe last night, when the park was still wet after rain, and hit my knee pretty hard so it's couch & youtube for the next couple weeks. Kids, wear pads! I could have been riding right now, IF ONLY I HAD FOLLOWED MR FORESMAN'S ADVICE!
I'm about to buy my first BMX & start trying to learn a few tricks. I ordered a La Bestille. Cant wait! However, I am intimidated by all the amazing people I see in all these videos. I'm ready to face my fears. Lol! Lets Go!!!!! BMX is Rad! 👍🏾
Noah Lam wow it's good to know someone's in the same shell as I am. But bmx takes patience and time to learn new tricks so you half to kind of expect that
I used to manny like that as a kid. Gonna start that entry level practicing again now. Thanks for the vid, it's really helpful for beginners or guys who stepped away for too long
Been following you and adam for a while now and have only started riding just recently. Didn't really know what to practice other than bunny hops and manuals so this video was perfectly timed. Would definitely like to see more of these every now and then. Something else you might try on one is find someone new to bmx and teach them a few things to also see it from the beginners perspective. Love your work man, keep it up!
I know this video is a bit old now but I just got a BMX today and can't wait to get riding. I'm turning 30 soon so I'm not ancient but I'm a little late to the party. You're a legend, this is exactly the sort of video I was looking for. Tail whips are a long way off yet so these tricks are perfect for me to get practising. Thank you so much!
I know these vids might be basic or boring for u to do, but I can’t tell u how much you have helped me in my progress. I’ve watched ur tutorial videos many times ✌🏼👍🏼✌🏼
To just reiterate what everyone else is saying big thanks to this video it shouts out everything that's right. In my opinion at least. It gave me somewhere to start and some confidence I'm not the only one
Completely agree with your comment about wearing a helmet and pads. There's absolutely no shame. Also, if you come off and mess up your arms and knees, it will probably scare you for life and you'll lose confidence. And you WILL come off. Over and over again. You need to become friends with pain. But it's part of the learning process.

I was prolly like 15 and 16 when I first watched this quarter conscious and now im 20 just bought a bmx and now im gonna try to commit to this, this very nostalgic I hope your doing good !!
nice video, exactly my level
been riding for 10+ years and learned tricks before bike control. I can backflip and barspin but i cant air out or manual.....yeah i know haha. ive been looking for someone who could break down the fundamentals of bike control and this is EXACTLY the type of tutorial concept I've been looking for. Thanks man
Anyone notice the squirrel run across in the background? 😂😂
yes i do :)
I’m 48,just bought a. BMX and done it up,now I’m gonna start some tricks,great video 👍
step 1: bunny hop and ride a curb double tire.
me in youtube search engine: how to bunny hop.
i know it’s bad.😂
it’s okay haha, just keep practicing, i used to barely make it up bunny hopping up curbs in august and with lots of practice now i can bunny hop tire height .
@@jaclob_after 3 years now how high you can bunny hop ?
This is good it's about time someone took the time off to show you how to ride BMX bike. I myself always wanted to learn how to do tricks on the BMX bike. So now this is my chance to learn I'm a beginner. I've been seeing guys do tricks on the BMX bikes and it's a beautiful thing. Especially when someone is very skilled and good. Thanks a lot my brother I will be looking at all your stuff.
Remember kids, wearing a helmet is cooler than wearing hospital clothes
Erm…….. actually
43 just ordered a bmx first one, had mountain bikes as a kid. This is a really good video and thanks for the tips I'll watch again next week when my bike is delivered
The squirrel at 0:47
Wtf 😂

You see him again at 8:25
BIQ your so distracted 😂😂
Really jaja a squirrel...aint nobody see that shit but you jaja
Im 31 and I’ve been wanting to get into bmx for a while now, I’m waiting for my bike to come in the mail, and def cant wait to start learning tricks and freestylin
The question is: how do I bunny hop? 😂
I used to have a BMX when I was about 4-6 years old. I just got a new one yesterday and I am currently learning.
I feel your personality can make an video topic cool af
#fuckinglemonade
Thanks
cool vid brotha, good advice, especialy about helmets... im 31 just getting back into bmx and i was nver very good but its so fun
Thanks for making this video. This is exactly what people who are just starting out need to see. I appreciate your work on this
what helmet is that? mine is big as shit and uncomfortable as heck
Makoto Yabusaki Also interested in that helmet. Looks pretty low profile
Makoto Yabusaki Protec makes a pretty good helmet that's not too bulky
Bern EPS helmet with the adjustable strap
I wonder what you sounded like before puberty
I'm about to buy my first BMX & start trying to learn a few tricks.
I ordered a La Bestille. Cant wait!
However, I am intimidated by all the amazing people I see in all these videos. I'm ready to face my fears. Lol! Lets Go!!!!! BMX is Rad! 👍🏾
I have been riding for a year and just learned to flat 360 barely and I'm really bad
I feel you. I'm riding for like a half year, and i can barely bunnyhop
Noah Lam wow it's good to know someone's in the same shell as I am. But bmx takes patience and time to learn new tricks so you half to kind of expect that
x1WARRIOR1x I can almost 180 normally I do a 120
I haven't been riding for long but earlier I was learning foot jam tailwhips
I used to manny like that as a kid. Gonna start that entry level practicing again now. Thanks for the vid, it's really helpful for beginners or guys who stepped away for too long
Been following you and adam for a while now and have only started riding just recently. Didn't really know what to practice other than bunny hops and manuals so this video was perfectly timed. Would definitely like to see more of these every now and then. Something else you might try on one is find someone new to bmx and teach them a few things to also see it from the beginners perspective. Love your work man, keep it up!
I'm 35 and a former skateboarder. I want to go back to the skate park and I think BMX is the best for me. Thanks for the information!!
Thank you so much!
you sir are the shit. I've watched tons of your vids and your falls are majestic but you almost never get hurt. keep doing this man!!!!
Out of all the BMX guys on UA-cam Spencer is the guy I'd hang out with
I know these vids might be basic or boring for u to do, but I can’t tell u how much you have helped me in my progress. I’ve watched ur tutorial videos many times ✌🏼👍🏼✌🏼
hit a lot of good points. I 100% agree bike control is KEY.
To just reiterate what everyone else is saying big thanks to this video it shouts out everything that's right. In my opinion at least. It gave me somewhere to start and some confidence I'm not the only one
I've just bought a new bike after not riding for 20 years lol, this is the best video ive seen yet, thanks
