Wednesdays have become my favourite day of the week Cat! That is if i can catch you live from here in Australia. Otherwise it is Friday night, the week has finished and I have your brilliant ideas to watch and then play with for the weekend. TY TY TY
Hello Catherine, thank you so much for all your videos, I love seeing them when I have a bit of time (not always sadly!) they are wonderful, very interesting, you're the queen of collage hand-made papers!! ❤🥰🤗 I watxhed the two parts this time, both are great and your backgrounds gorgeous!!
Hello Catherine, what beautiful collage papers! I might have missed the explanation, but what is the purpose of the wall paper paste? And why do you wet the papers on both sides? Thank you!
The paste creates dimension when paint is added to it, and then spread across the paper. You wet both sides to get the winkles out of the paper before applying the paste/paint. Then when you scrape something over it to make the design, you don't see any wrinkles because the paper was wrinkled to begin with. The wetting first also helps the paste to adhere to the paper.
Hello Catherine! I'm so happy to have found you. I love your paste paper techniques. I teach art to elders and we've made paste papers for covering our homemade journals. I'm going to have to teach some your awesome techniques to add to the fun. Have you ever used metallic paint for paste papers?
This would be a fabulous technique for seniors. Really most of my demos would be appropriate and fun for them. I haven't used metallics for this, although its a great idea!
Hi Catherine - wonderful designs - question: if you don’t use Nova paints, what do you suggest? Fluids? Could you ever use acrylics out of the tube to mix with the paste? 28:18
You can use any acrylics with this technique. If its full bodied paint, you probably can add less paint. Fluids would probably need a bit more to get the opaqueness you are looking for.
Wallpaper paste is not glue, and I'm guessing it's archival since they use it to apply wallpaper, but I'm not sure. the paste makes your paint very thick and stays wet a long time so that you can create amazing textures with it, similar to using a gel plate, but different.
Thanks. Looking forward to next Tuesday!
You are a dear! Thanks so very much for joining me live each week. I'm honored!

Thank you! 😊
In Canada 32 oz wallpaper paste is $27.99 will make my own 😊❤
Great idea! I know many people make their own. Rather cheap to buy 16 oz here in the states and it lasts forever!
These papers are so nice and yummy! I love your color palette. I cant wait to try some of my own 😊 Thanks for sharing your awesome techniques!!
I truly appreciate the loving feedback Jennifer. Hope that you have a blast experimenting with this technique.
Hello Catherine loving your paper creation! Thank you. I dont know what “paste” would be - trying to identify the similar materials in Brazil…
Google wallpaper paste. You can also make your own, many recipes on the internet. Have fun!

What is the point in mixing paste in with the pigments? Is this archival? Is this paste actually a white glue?
