Some people may think it's child's play, (Jackson Pollock?), but I think it's beautiful. Some of these papers could be a piece of art by themselves. Love these!
Oh I absolutely love these demos. Now I’m taking a small trip to the local toy store for some marbles. Thankyou for sharing your amazing talents Catherine
I was an art snob and skipped this tutorial, thinking it was too simple. I just watched the collaging of these paoers and will definitely make these. Thank you for your sense of wonderment!😊
Totally understand that feeling as I almost didn't do this demo! But once I started making these, I realized how magical they were when added to a collage. Enjoy making them!
I've been making a lot of papers using this technique. I found another way to do it as well. Instead of trying to coat the marbles with paint, I splatter paint on a piece of paper in the plastic bin. I load a paint brush with lots of liquid paint, then hit the paint brush with a hard object to make the paint splatter and 'glob' onto the paper--just like when making a painting. Then, I drop and roll the clean marbles around the bin. They run over the splatters and globs, making the same kind of marks as if the marbles had been coated in paint in the bowl and dropped with a spoon. This way just skips the stop of putting paint on the marbles. Less mess.
I just tried this and it's so much fun! I switched to using a plastic bin with high sides because I kept losing my marbles :) when I shook the pan too hard. They'd jump out! I've used copy paper, deli paper, and tissue paper using several different colors. Next, I'm going to make a stack of marbled papers with gold metallic paint. That should come in handy when making collages. Thanks for the video!
This is so fun. Can’t wait to try it. You could minimize cleanup by printing your white papers, then slowly add colour to change your values. Ending with black.
That's what I thought. Hard to believe how simple and effective using marbles can be. I know, love the tape too. Will be using that a lot more in collage for sure!
As usual, an unique take on making collage papers! I anxiously await each new video. Could you give us a link to this favorite rice paper you keep referring to? Thank you.
I would use different colored marbles as long as the colors were carefully selected (all cools or all warms), and I didn't roll the marbles too long. It worked better for me to use different colors one at a time then I had more control of how much I wanted each color.
I don't bother cleaning the marbles. Sometimes, the old paint will come off on new collage papers if I use them again, which can make for some interesting marks. If I don't want this to happen, I start with fresh marbles, especially if I'm using a different color palette. Marbles are very cheap to replace!
Crazy thing is that I have never even thought about that! The answer is it could. However I'm been using packing tape for a long while, and never have seen it happen. Doesn't mean that it won't. Encasing any type of paper that is not archival with medium as you glue, on both side, and then using varnish and wax at the end is probably keeping my work from yellowing, at least for the moment!

Thank you, I completely agree 💗

What a fabulous variation on this technique. Thanks so much for sharing how you made this uniquely your own! Need to try this too.
Love this technique, so cool on tape. Can’t wait to try it. Thanks fir all you videos.
I agree that the marbles on tape is especially magical. Hope that you enjoy making them as much as I did!

Fun and easy ,what's not to like ? Making collage with cloth at the moment and think this method will produce some interesting pieces .
So agree that this method will look fabulous on cloth. Please share the results!
This is so fun. Can’t wait to try it. You could minimize cleanup by printing your white papers, then slowly add colour to change your values. Ending with black.
Great idea, thanks for sharing!
love this.....I used to do this with preschoolers many y ears ago......
How fun! I'm sure they loved it. Did you try the bubble paper with them as well?
Love your creative ideas for tape!
@@andreamack102 I'm actually using that painted tape in the art demo on Tuesday for TUNE IN TUES on UA-cam. You'll see how I use it in a collage.
Brilliant and what fun 🎉
And sooooo simple! Sounds like it time to buy some marbles and give this a go?!
Fabulous!
Awww thank you!
Love these! Linear, yet with an organic vibe... fab! I can totally envision these in my collages!
So love that these will work in your collages. Hope you totally enjoy making them. I sure did!
I am liveing in Brazil and I love your work.
Thank you very much!
Very cool!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Simple…& so clever….thank you !
I'm so glad that this technique speaks to you. Would love to see what you create with it!
Great textures. Fun project for papers. Many thanks.
Thanks so much 😊
Thank you so much for your video. The whole day I let they roll on. I love it so and have a lot of fun.❤😊
You are so dear! I love that I was the background music to your day!
What a clever method! I'm always looking to set myself apart when it comes to collages and this should be one of those things. Thank you! (:
I'm thrilled that this technique resonates with you, and that you want to add it to your work. I can't wait to add it to my collages as well!
love the papers. so easy but so effective. brilliant idea with the tape

@@catrains.artist Thanks. That actually happens to be my favorite rice paper too.
Love this! Can’t wait to try it! Thank you 😊
Excited for you to try it! Let me know how it turns out, thank you for watching!
I just found your channel and I´m loving it 🤗
Yay! Thank you! I am so glad you're here
Wonder what would happen if the pages are wet when you start rolling the marbles?
Hmmm, good question! It would depend on the type of paper too. Sounds like an experiment is in your near future! Love this idea.
What a fun technique! Do you get layering if you use different coloured marbles at once? Or do they blend a bit?
I would use different colored marbles as long as the colors were carefully selected (all cools or all warms), and I didn't roll the marbles too long. It worked better for me to use different colors one at a time then I had more control of how much I wanted each color.
Really creative idea and so fun 👏🙏🧡
Glad that you enjoyed the video, and hope you give it a try. So fun and easy!
Great idea. I would use more disposable items like disposable spoons and the top of a shoebox. Just to eliminate the labor of cleanup.
Great idea!
Interesting ! Can you clean the paint off the marbles when through ? Seems like that would take a lot of time & soap .
I don't bother cleaning the marbles. Sometimes, the old paint will come off on new collage papers if I use them again, which can make for some interesting marks. If I don't want this to happen, I start with fresh marbles, especially if I'm using a different color palette. Marbles are very cheap to replace!
Just subscribed!!
Thanks so very much!
Will the packing tape not yellow? My old packing tape on boxes yellows.

What are water gel beads. Where to buy?
There is a link to them under "show more" in the description. I bought mine off Amazon.
How do you clean the marbles?
I soak them in water and rinse them off. Works especially quick if you rinse them in water soon after you use them.
ihre Ideen sind schön, aber leider reden sie viel zu viel, das ist sehr anstrengend
There is too much talk in the video?
