    This is an awesome tutorial! I am not really good at fixing cars, but with this video I made my heating work well again. Thanks a million for putting this together 😁✌️

      I would recommend changing the cabin filter at the same time, as it could be very dirty which is what can cause the excessive load on the resistor pack. As the load builds, the current draw heats up the cabling which in turn blows the thermal fuse in the pack..... there is a chance you'll just blow the new pack in a short time if the filter isn't replaced....... which is what happened to me 🤦🏼‍♂️

    I have the same problem 2 weeks ago and I repair this part with a spare resistor, 2 € cost! 👌
    U must open that piece and restore the wrong rezistor and done!!🙃

      My understanding is that it is actually a thermal fuse, rather than a resistor. You could simply replace that with a piece of wire and your blower will function normally, albeit without the thermal fuse protection.
      The variable speed of your blower is achieved by way of the thick gauge coils in the resistor pack.
      The thermal fuse is there to stop all of this getting dangerously hot in the event of an abnormal load.
      Typically an abnormal load occurs when either the cabin filter is blocked or the blower motor is on its way out.
      So a blown thermal fuse is usually the indicator of one of these problems.
      Replacing the thermal fuse for a new fuse, or installing a new resistor pack, with out addressing the underlying issue will likely just result in it blowing again. However, bypassing the fuse can lead to a full on fire.

    Thanks for the video, I have exactly the same problem! Does anyone know exact sizes of the torx heads needed for this job? Thanks!

    Do you have an idea how i can easylier to take off the black plastic to put off the blower? In your video it looks very easy, but it isn't 😢

    Hi , thank you for a very informative video. Would this fault cause cold air not blow out? I have just topped up my ac gas and it’s not getting ice cold . My fan only works on 5 .

      If the fan only works on "5" I'm pretty sure that your resistor pack has blown. It's very likely that your AC compressor clutch is linked to this too (I'm not 100% sure on that though, but seems logical).

      thanks for your reply , I will try changing the resistor pack.

    Could this also be a cause for the motor not working at all on any setting?

    • @fixitfallows
      @fixitfallows  Рік тому

      Usually when the resistor pack goes you still get full power as the max power setting doesn't go through the resistor pack.
      Check that you have 12volts going to the main connector for the blower motor when you have your switch set to maximum. If you do, then it suggests a motor issue (stuck due to seized bearings/bushings or warn/dirty brushes or commutator.
      If no power, then perhaps its a switch problem.
      Then also, whilst I haven't checked, there may be a dedicated fuse for the circuit in one of the fuse boxes on the vehicle.
      I hope this gives you a few options and good luck.

    Hey there, I've followed your steps and changed the resistor but it still only works on 5. Any suggestions?

    • @fixitfallows
      @fixitfallows  Рік тому +1

      There is a chance you may have blown the new resistor pack straight away.... I've since learnt that if your cabin filter is very blocked that is what can cause the pack to blow as it causes such a strain on the wiring, the heat builds up and blows the thermal fuse in the resistor pack. The cabin filter is changed via the plastic access panel between the wind screen and bonnet between your wiper blades.

      @@fixitfallows thank you so much. Your video helped me a lot. Especially the tip about putting the rear of the cover in first. That bit too me ages to get back in!
