Heater blower fan resistor mercedes vito Part 2

- As you have previously seen in part 1 video, I have changed only the resistor but it lasted only couple of days. What happens is if you only change the resistor the fan will kill it again. Therefore you have to change the resistor and the fan at the same time and what I'm showing in this video is how to do that.
People like you who make these kind of videos are the real MVP's! Thanks.
Thank you.
Thank you for the video and mentioning that it's probably a good idea to replace the fan too. Who wants to do it twice and pay again for the resistor? I just watched another guy doing the resistor and later found out that the resistor was melting the plastic.
Thank you for your comment 🙏
Good vid my man. Extremely helpful.
But before going and ordering parts me hearty's. Make sure you remove the resistor and move the blower blade back and forth a few times and reinstall the resistor. I've just done this on my 2014 Merc Valente van (same as Vito) and it's back working a treat 👍
My Merc van has just clocked over 700,000 km's, and it's still going strong! 💪
Good tip!
Thanks! Why does this work?
I had the same problem of the fan only working in position 5 in my 2005 vito about 4years ago. After a bit of probing I determined the problem was in the heater resistor unit. In the unit there is a small silver thermal fuse in series with the first 4 restance wires, from memory it was rated at 72C. The local electronic component store had a 77C rated thermal fuse for A$3.95. With a little bit of fiddling I managed to remove the rivets retaining the old and replaced it with. The fan is still working.
It's nice to know the fan is removable.
Thank you for your comment.
Hi
Changed the resistor and the fan a few minutes ago on my Viano with perfect result 😀
I did’nt have to cut like you did.
Thanks for the video 🙏🏻(the only one out there)
Thank you for your comment. I am very happy that this video have helped you and hopefully will help many others.
How did u remove without cutting
@@davidmazh9132 because the Viano and Vito is not exactly the same, i don’t have the plastic above the fan like in the video that he needed to cut
I have a Viano, too (2013)
Would you tell me the partnumbers please? Thank you very much 🤗
@@JacarandaJourneys Thank you for the super cool video 😊
When I know the Part Numbers i will order. Then I hope the Problem will be done to my Viano, too 🙃
Great video. I have had 2 resistors go. I am now going to change the fan and resistor. Got them from Mercedes. Resistor £39.40 + vat. Fan £82.12 +vat .
Thanks for video. Easy job to do.
Parts came to for the two £136.32 Mercedes Rossetts Commercials. Worthing.
I am happy that my video helped you. Thank you for sharing the prices.
Awesome video. Out and in in 15 minutes. Job done just in time for the warm Aussie Summer. Saved me much aggravation.
Great 👍 👌
🇦🇺G’day mate.. 😊Aussie talk.. A big hearty ❤good on you.. they are a great vehicle . Mine has just started to make some noise and it is a little bit worrying from the point of view that it might stop working . I really do appreciate the time that you put into making the video and giving me the heads up on how to find the problem and get to that particular part in the Vito van . Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10 out of 10 and cheers Cober..
Thanks a lot! This comment made it all worth it.
Thank You for the info. I have W639 Vito and fan just died this week, i am going give it a go.
Thank you 😊 good luck 👍
I watched another video and they left out the part them cutting out the plastic part.
Thought Mercedes was nice to leave such a convinient access to the fan.
haha....thanks for the video.
Thank you
Thanks a lot. It help a lot. I just repair mine. I dindn't order a new one. Once, the blower out. I just make him turn with my hand, as I saw on anorher UA-cam video, add some universal oil on the rusty turning part and clean with a cutips the dirt on the coppper brush touching the electric rotor. It work again :-)
Wish I'd listened to you in first place, thought I'd get away with new resister but it lasted one 4 days, ended up changing fan assembly and another resistor. 🙄
Thank you for your comment. Made me laugh. And guess what, I've done the same what you did and this is how I know. Let's hope the next person will get the message;).
Cheers gr8 video I put a regulater in , but failed after 1 day , so luckily got a free replacement , but prob is no fans around , only on ebay from e europarts or something .Correct part number but not sure if genuine , so if I dont buy now I have to drive around with level 5 fan only
🙂A big thank you following your video I have just changed my fan and resistor cut the top plastic with just a hacksaw blade thanks again..
Thank you for your comment 🙏. I'm really happy that I could help 😊.
hey man! thanks for your helpful video 😊!
did your resistor break down again, or is your problem solved by replacing the blower fan. I seem to have the same problem.
thanks in advance!
Yes.
It's best to change both at the same time. And then you have no problems.
Thank you for your comment 🙏 😊
Great video, have the exact same problem on my Vito, will attempt to fix myself.
Thank very much for this video. It helps me many.
Thank you 😊 pleasure on my side
Excellent video, got the same problem myself, gonna have a go now,
Many thanks
Me 2 , except my fan is working , but only on number 5 , but that means there is an electrical issue with it .Problem is merc havent got any
@@staypress mine was the same, only working on number 5, I put a new resistor in, it worked on all 5, but then started smoking from the new resistor, now I've been told there's 2 resistors, one for air con, one without, think I must have bought the wrong one
@@ringsausage29 I didnt know there was 2
Thank you 😊 I'm happy that I could help.
Usually if the heater blower works on certain numbers that is a clear indication the heater blower is faulty not the resistor
What I've noticed is that moisture gets into the heater blower bearings, which makes it hard to spin, and in that moment, the resistor will blow off or go bad. Therefore, if you change only resistor, it will burn off the resistor again. The fan is still fine apart from the bearings, so if you change the bearings and make sure the motor spins freely and replaces the resistor, you will be fine. In my case, I changed the fan and resistor and had no problem.
You sir,are a hero
changed my resistor and like you it only lasted a day,I didnt know if it was a cheap resistor or fan.
where did you order the parts from?
I ordered genuine parts from Mercedes. The resistors goes only because the fan has to work too hard for some reason. That's why it is a good idea to change the fan at the same time.
Very helpful, thanks
Pleasure on my side.
Thank you 😎👍
You're welcome 😊 🙏
Thank you!
Thank you 😊
Thanks alot !!
Your welcome:-)
Im about to do this job, is your fix still working??
Perfectly fine 🙂 👌
I tried this job this morning , but gave up after I didnt have the correct screwdriver , and I pulled the main blower out , but decided as I wasnt going to do the job , I would push it back , but obviously I couldnt , because for some reason the blower plug connection had moved backwards , so I could not access it .
My garage done it for £40 .
Failed again.
Hi i have a different problem . i can't change the air-conditioning direction.like down or up or front. which need to fix?
Sorry I couldn't help
Hi, I have a Vito. and my fan button doesn't work at all. Can you help me with something?
I'm not sure but maybe it went so bad that it blew out the fuse. So I would check that first and then change the regulator and the fan itself. Let us know when you manage to make it work and how.
the regulator was ok and the fan is ok the power was interrupted at the starting stages
is solved now. thanks anyway
Salut am aceeasi problema ca si a ta. Consola nu raspunde la nici o comanda, inclusiv butoanele pt a/c, recirculare si incalzire spate. Ma poti ajuta cu un sfat, te rog?
Multumesc!
