Audi A4 (B9) Rear Brake Pads with EPB Electronic Parking Brake
Переглядів 3052 місяці тому
Changing the rear brake pads on an Audi A4 (B9) involves winding back the electronic parking brake EPB. This is normally done via a scan tool via the OBDII port, but can be done with a 12v battery and couple of lengths of cable. See also this video for the front brake pads: ua-cam.com/video/4noV92V7pls/v-deo.html

      Hello, welcome to the party 🎉😀. I'll be honest, this buggy has barely turned a wheel since I made this video. The reason for this is that I have struggled to find a club/track sufficiently close to fit into my schedule and many other non RC projects have taken priority. I still hope at some point to race it..... but obviously as time goes by, the greater the risk is that parts will be become unobtainable.

    Good stuff 👍 Hows the bike going?? Did you manage to fix the loose front end cutting the bolts shorter for better clamping pressure, or did it reappear and come loose again. Any issues to report 3 months on?? Thanks 👍

      @fixitfallows 2 дні тому

      @@TESTA-CC hello, so shortening those bolts definitely worked for me, the headset has not come loose since. However, setting the preload on the headset has proved to be more difficult. I have to accept either a tiny little bit of slop or a tiny little bit of bind. I opt for a tiny little bit of bind as road cycling doesn't really have huge amounts of large steering movements and I find this preferable to the potential damage by the continual movement associated with slop. All in all, in spite of this, I am very very happy with the bike.

    I have one and its great to improve its performance. The gib strips are plastic, no problem as my larger lathe has plastic gib strips. But the grub screws are pointed at one end, and dig into the plastic with force which loosens the slides. Grind the grub screw tips flat and you will get better stability with use. The chatter is cause cos the force on the tool is on the edge of the bed and not into the centre of the bed like larger lathes. Another reason is too much overhand on the tool especially 4mm tools. Puts some rake on the tool (the 3 angles in which it cuts)

Yes, I actually had to go to a car audio shop and get them to add a new connector onto the aerial cable which is then plugged into the back of the radio. I will speak to them again on Monday to see if they have any ideas, other than a faulty radio. I am assuming that as I get reception when I stick a screwdriver into the back of the radio aerial socket, either the radio plug is somehow to blame, or the aerial cable from front to back is the problem (doesn't look an easy job to remove all the headlining to do this like you, I did remove the rear headlining slightly when installing the new base). Is there any other way to test do you think, to work out the problem?

If I'm not mistaken I think it is literally a retro rebodied Panda so that Fiat could milk that platform for a bit longer..... it seems to have worked for them! At least they are reasonably cheap and easy to fix. My daughter's one, has in this last year, seen her safely down to Cornwall and back, plus she now resides up in Lancashire where the car is perfect for both the city and tight rural lanes.

    Smart man! That's exactly what's going on.. suction too strong for some carpets. Models vary regarding the gasket/bellows.. do what he did if you have that type or with other models you remove the bottom plate by turning or flipping locking tabs, then remove part/all of gasket. PROBLEM SOLVED!!

    Did you weigh the frameset including all accessories before the assembly? Is the frame itself (without headset, thruaxle, bottom bracket) 1050g or including those accessories?

      I keep kicking myself as I did not 🤦🏼‍♂️...... I think the issue I had in regards to the battery location took over my thinking during the initial inspection of how the build would go I have just messaged BXT on their website to see if they can clarify your weight question. I suspect it is purely for the frame.... we shall see. You'll understand that I won't rush to disassemble the bike 😂

    I believe unscrew the fluid reservoir to ensure you get reduced pressure when retracting the piston is useful.. A bit of brake grease for the pad lugs and where the piston makes contact with the pads - to avoid brake screech .

    What year was your vito cab ,took my vito for mot yesterday and it’s passed but it says suspension arm pin bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement, so I’m expecting to replace mine soon , mine is a 15 plate , just wondering what control arm /wishbone I’ll need

      Hello. Mine was a 64 plate (2014) so a 113 ( ie 2nd gen Vito cab). Same as yours by the sound of it, as the 114 (3rd gen ) appeared on 66 plates. This is the last arm I ordered, remember they are side specific : www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164375661557?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=wJiZ5q5jTRy&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=RxFk3GAASxi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Normal Vitos were 114s by 2015, Penso and whoever bought a load of old gen 113s to convert to Taxis, as usual the Taxi trade gets given the old stuff (think the TX2 with the out of date Ford engine and it's issues !!!) As for your overhaul.... they could fail it yet.... I had a failure on the rear centre diff mount rubbers, but it had passed the MOT 🤷🏼‍♂️...... 🤞🏼🤞🏼
