The main computer core which would have been many decks high with techs in like chairs that would move around on it. Man I’ve been binge watching Star Trek Voyager during the quarantine and have a lot of these Star Trek ship ambience videos on while I work from home/sleep etc. I love it, this one is such a perfect balance of the relaxing rain/fish tank sounds and sci-fi ship sounds I love to listen to. Thank you for making this! Live long and prosper my friend 🖖❤️
For those who didn't read the Description, or don't know; Cetacean Ops is on the Enterprise D. Its full of Dolphins and Whales, among many other things. The writers of the show felt that by the 24the century, they would have found a way to communicate with Dolphins and Whales, hence Cetacean Ops. There are translation stations for regular contact, and the cetaceans themselves are considered part of the crew that primarily help with navigation. There are even specialized escape pods for them in an emergency. I think 4 or 8 in total.
This is honestly my #1 alltime favourite ambience track of all time. A truly perfect blend of Trek beep-boops and submarine/ocean noises that makes it nigh impossible for my tinnitus to manifest. Thank you so much :) realised this is probs my 100th time listening lmao so I deffo gottaa hit up your patreon soon
"Admiral! There be whales here!!!" I know this is TNG, but didn't Scotty technically build the first starship "Cetacian Ops" for George & Gracie in ST4? His incredulous reaction when Kirk orders him to create one tells me that such a thing had never been attempted before.
LOVE THIS!!! LOVE YOUR PHOTOSHOPPING!!! (@2:28 and ALL of it!) LOVE THAT DOLPHINS WERE MEMBERS OF STARFLEET AND ON THE ENTERPRISE!!!!! LOVE THAT THEY WROTE IT IN BEFORE SEAQUEST!! (I like to think that there was one Dolphin named ECHO!) LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!
Your videos, and this one in particular, have saved my sanity - thank you for these. The tenant below me has a TV on all day long, pumped through a 5.1 surround sound system. Every vocal, every sound is bass-boosted. It sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher lives below me. I always found comfort in TNG, haha. So I searched and came across your channel. This video in particular, with its' layered sounds, really does the trick! I'll throw this on while I work to block it all out. I subscribed to Premium just to have access to all of your content on a whim. Thank you again!
Thank you for saying that. I’m glad you found the channel and it’s helpful, I know in that situation I’d be angry and stressed out all the time, and home is the place that’s supposed to be relaxing
"How do we know he didn't invent the thing?" - Scotty, Chief Engineer of the flagship of the Federation. You'd think he'd know the answer to this, LOL.
I'm binge watching TNG (again) after watching all of Enterprise. Archer is good but he's no Picard. This is sending me to sleep now, thank you for the upload!
The first couple scenes look EXACTLY like the Living Seas pavilion at EPOCT in Disney World to the point where I'm having flashbacks from working there LOL
We keep forgetting S3 of ST Enterprise!! They had many scenes with the "aquatic" Xindi. We also know that at some point after the events of ST:ENT that the Xindi join the Federation. That means theres at least one "cetatian" species we definately know serve in Trek. Its also possible that after Humpbacks return from extinction after the events of Undiscovered Country, having discovered they where smart enough to be considered a "higher" life form by the overly noisy probe, they where enrolled into starfleet at somepoint in the century between TOS and TNG
Xindi are not cetacean. They are water-breathers. Earth's cetaceans need to surface for a breath of air now and then. By the time of TNG & Lower Decks, Cetacean Ops includes crewmembers of the bottle nosed dolphins, orca, and Takaya's whales, cybernetically enhanced Earth orcas. Humpbacks are to big to serve comfortably on a starship, but they can serve as instructors at Starfleet Academy.
I'm thinking holodeck might be the best explanation, but who knows? I suppose they have enough room on NCC-1701D to put a giant aquarium if they wanted, and they have enough energy to move it around.
I saw an article once that said since the Enterprise D is so huge and there's only 1000 people on board, that in the less-trafficked areas of the ship you could walk around all day and never run into ANYONE.
I wish there were a whole lot more slides and concept art but don't get me wrong, This is fascinating and took me away from my day to look up all things Star Trek Cetacean.
certainly something else. estimates of ship and crew size of the enterprise shows that at any time, you could cross all of the enterprise without meeting a single soul; the population density is just so low, there could have been an entire deck for an aquatic lab
There IS a "cetacean lifeboat" labeled on the blueprint. The logical response would have been for the personnel to have ejected the cetaceans to safety, by making sure that this lifeboat was actually used. Also, I read a novel in which it said that the safe in Data's quarters, which held the shattered brain of Lore, was booby-trapped as a precaution against some intruder perhaps attempting to remove the brain from the safe and rebuild Lore. Following the crash of the Enterprise D, the novel I read had Data explain that the crash impact was registered by the security system as a potential intrusion into the safe, and that Data was fully aware the crash caused the security system to vaporize Lore's brain, destroying it.
I like this whole you uploading more thing. Pleaaaaase do a voyager night shift bridge crew. Less beeps and convo and just the right amount of warp core 🤤🤤🤤🤤
This is very relaxing. Question: where do you get the ship ambient noise (the engine room hum, for example)? I know the Star Trek Generations soundtrack had some clips, which include the Enterprise-D bridge background noise and computers etc. But where do the other background noises come from? Thanks!
This is so good I shouldn't complain, but the occasional cetacean squeal kept making me think my child was crying and needed attending to down the hall.
I know some have noticed you ripped off The Living Seas from Epcot Center, but ripping off the shark tank from SeaWorld Orlando was some excellent Photoshop work on your part!! Good stuff!
It was a hypothetical space on the ship that the blueprint designers added in for Rich Sternbach's BLUEPRINTS: STAR TREK: NEXT GENERATION NCC-1701-D book. The writers thought it was a funny idea and inserted some dialog about dolphins being aboard the Enterprise in the episode "The Perfect Mate." All of the photos are from aquariums around the world that I photoshopped.
@@ender4life the Cretaceous section is referenced a couple times in the show, AT LEAST once bf "The Perfect Mate," as I'm watching the show right and not to that Episode yet (I would know, I 💕 Famke Janssen 🔥) and it's already been mentioned!! (Honestly I think 2x but I KNOW for a certainty at least once!)
*i love this, just not the title like there is literally no need to lie, it’s observation places, aquariums (unfortunately), a hotel in the maldives... like they truth is better!(:* thank you and have a nice safe day!
Well, it IS beautiful, I'll grant you that! But it's hard to think of anything more impractical than a huge portion of the ship devoted to aquariums. And look at all the tropical fish! Why aren't the air filled corridors full of chipmunks, birds, and butterflies? And the various catastrophes that have happened (damage from combat, etc.) not once have we seen air filled decks flooded with water. Or water vented into space. I think that, while somebody in the beginning thought it would be cool, they just didn't think it through. NOW, if the Enterprise came across a fully cetacean "manned" Starfleet vessel, THAT would have been cool! But their crew would have had uniforms, and apparati that would give them manipulators of some kind. Not to mention breathing masks because they can't breathe in zero gee.
I actually have the Star Trek: TNG Technical Manual, and according to that, Cetacean Ops is an actual area of the Enterprise-D. Memory Alpha also has an entry on Cetacean Ops, with Geordi talking about dolphins on board.
It is actually mentioned in the show and it can also be seen on some diagrams of the ship. From what I read dolphins were actually going to be the ships navigators. But that idea was scraped because of cost.
Finally my Star Trek geekiness and aquarium geekiness merge with my love/need of falling to sleep to ambiance sounds. 🙂❤👍
Star Trek: Lower Decks has cetacean ops on the USS Cerritos. They have two beluga whale crew members. It's canonical now!
I really wish they had the budget to do an episode with the sea creatures that would have been nice
the writers really wanted to! 'Budget' was the reason they didn't do half of the cool things they wanted.
@@ender4life I always thought this was a successful show that allowed them to do over the top episodes every so often
