      My hair i havnt started its fairly long but i would like it a light golden as havnt dyed it for years. But because of covid i cant go hairdressers. Need a hair dye that i can diy medium /dark brown to a golden warm blonde. Or dark blonde. Then i will see what condition the hair dye brings it out in ie frizzer, dryer, then try my hair transition. Dont know much about DIY hair so if any suggestions on medium/dark brown to go to dark blonde or golden bonde at home please lert me know. If it does too much damage i will grow back natural colour and cut it like yours just about shoulder length as it will add volume and thickness. If i dye it i will also cut off the long rat tail, frizzy fly away ends and my hair is always flat on top. Conditioner always makes my hair greasy at roots next day. Its so flyaway and frizzy i just tie it back past months. No1 else in family has my hair. They all have straight hair n half of them blonde. Im medim /dark browm with wild dead hair. I feel like dying it to a golden blonde or dark blonde would make me feel better amd then start trying different products depending on what damage it does. My hair grows slow so dont wamt to chop it off yet. Bit when my natural hair colour starya growing through i think shoulder length would be better way to maintain.

      I started in 2017, right now I know a lot about my hair. Never had to transition from heat damage, because I always wore it curly I just didn't know how to take care of my beautiful hair

      I’m 6 months in, having started in June 2020. This is also when I stopped washing & blow drying my hair (not straight) every day, believing I just had frizzy wavy hair 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

    Thanks Gena for sharing. I am about 18 months into my curly hair journey. I have a little different story in that my hair wasn't curly before. I had straight hair that I washed every night and straightened even more with a flat iron every morning. Then menopause happened and I got curly hair. I have been on a modified CGM for about 18 months now and the difference is beginning to be noticeable. I am one of those who like to try a lot of different products and I too have started to notice that as time goes on, some that I liked before don't do well now and the ones I didn't like before do so much better. I have fine thick hair and also do not do well with silicones. I look forward to seeing what you have in store for 2021.

    Very informative and helpful video, your beginner guide was the first recommendation when I typed cgm on youtube this summer, that what started my journey. I would love to see more gel recommendations especially drugstore ones, for some reason I find it difficult to find silicone-free gels!

    Could you please do a video on how you dealt with your different hair needs before you chopped the dyed ends off? My hair is still transitioning and the bottom 3 inches are dyed from 2 yrs ago, but I can't chop it yet. But figuring out what my ends need vs my upper half of hair is hard. Exp knowing if I need moisture vs protein for just the ends etc. Hope this makes sense.

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  3 роки тому +1

      I mainly used more cream and leave in on those areas, and would also have to touch them up with extra gel after my hair was done drying because the ends would get frizzy again, almost like they lost product. This video may help: ua-cam.com/video/jBDXxUXbm6I/v-deo.html

    I started to look in what is inside hair products (and body, and face…) after I got chemical burns from a semi-professional shampoo. Then I eliminated everything with petrolates and silicone. Personally I don't like silicone because it doesn't do anything… you're basically wrapping your hair in cling film: beneath it, your hair is not nourished or anything. When you wash silicone away, your hair is as good or as bad as it was before. I prefer to use something that's going to improve my hair on the long run. In my case, jojoba oil. I had started with argan oil, but as fantastic as it IS, it's a bit too heavy for my hair and skin. Then I tried avocado oil, which is fantastic too, but it went rancid a bit too fast (I'm using what's left of it to treat my leather shoes and boots). I found the right one with jojoba.
    Oh, and I noticed that since I've stopped using styling mousse and the like, I don't have split ends anymore. At ALL.

    Im medim to dark brown curly hair that is frizzy and fly away naturally, i no longer staighen it but i would like it to be a golden or dark blonde colour. How do i do that without using bleach to dry it out and be bleach blonde. I also used hair extensions. I jusy want natural lighter curly hair thats not frizzy, i have just found your video. Its great! Whem its long like now its stringy and flat and so frizzy

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  3 роки тому

      Unfortunately the only way to lighten hair is with bleach (that I know of). I'm not a hairstylist but I do not know of another way. Any time you lighten your hair, the porosity raises (damage).

    • @Palmundo91
      @Palmundo91 3 роки тому

      A really skilled licensed colorist will be able to give you some option if they are available to you. Bleach isn't the only way to lighten

    Also I'm not sure why but I can't use anything with aloe in it. Regardless if I use a moisturizing cream/leave-in etc before hand, I get flash drying instantly no matter what. Anyone know y?

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  3 роки тому +1

      I've heard of that happening with many people. Perhaps its just a negative reaction with your hair type and aloe

    Love your Q/A's
    Great video!
    I wouldnt use silicones "to see"
    It has taken you so long (Im not even close to being their yet)to get where your at with your hair. Your hair is like mine. Like their so "delicate" and at the same time, very "demanding". I wouldnt risk it. I know there are hairs out there that can "take it". But becuse its a "not so bad" ingredient doesnt mean EVERYONE can get away with it. I know i cant. My hair is getting better, strictly CG. So many "clean" products. Why risk it? Glyserins are also my "enemies". I live in P.R. IMAGINE!!!
    Love all your videos, Godsend.

    So did you know that if the products you are using are not water soluble then they technically aren’t cgm approved? There are only like 5 lines with completely water soluble products. This is coming from Lorraine Massey herself.
