Ginamarie, I have to tell you that I have been looking for someone with my hair type for months and I finally found you. I have actually learned so much from you. Others have spoken about their hair and I have tried doing what they say, but nothing worked for my hair. Since watching and learning, I am finally embracing my curls and still learning.
I think your curls look great! I use this same routine pretty often in my rotation. Sometimes I use their sweet spirit leave in instead of the quiet calm curl control, based on what my hair needs. I always get good results with this routine
Innersense products are basically the only stylers that work for me anymore, or at least work that well. I’ve tried so many drugstore products and even other high end ones and I just keep coming back to Innersense. It makes my hair incredibly defined, shiny, and soft. And my hair isn’t naturally soft- I have very very coarse hair. I also have a portion of my hair that’s bleached and it even makes those parts soft like I never even bleached them. My fav combo rn is I create lift and I create curl memory.
For the person who said they get itchy when they wear their hair curly, it could also be one of two other things. 1) It could be shedding hair that isn’t coming out naturally because it gets caught in the curls (whereas straight hair it just falls). And 2) It could be the curls themselves poking at you! That actually happens to me some, especially when my hair is frizzier.
This was an excellent tutorial! It explained a lot of issues I have had when experimenting with different products and techniques!! I have experienced all of the fails you have mentioned, hair too wet, leave in or curl cream too moisturizing, not enough product, not enough hold, absence of glycerin, etc.!
13:21 I just saw something that you do that I don’t know how it works. You take the section you just brushed and then you kind of twirl them around 1 finger to turn them into 1 curl clump? I need to rewatch it several times and see how I’ve seen people do like the shaking thing that clumps their hair together that does literally nothing for my hair, but I definitely want to try this twirl thing you’re doing.
I love your blog/website. My biggest issue with hair products is fragrance sensitivity & sensitivity to ingredients that causes dermatitis. Some of those issues resolved when I switched to CGM shampoo/conditioners. But stylers: gels, mousses, leave-ins & revivers were really tough. If the product gave me amazing results, the fragrance was too much & I had to rewash my hair & take benedryl 😢 But your website listed MopTop & I have had really good results using their gels, especially when I refresh. The gels reactivate & don't make my hair stringy or frizzy or feel dirty. MopTop liquid leave-in plus water makes a great refresh in a spray bottle. And the slight citrus scent is pleasant & does not trigger my allergies. I tried all the Jessicurl stylers & none of them really worked for me (unscented of course) but I still use Jessicurl shampoo & conditioner. My hair isn't really like yours, it's long, layered, thick & color treated 2B/2C wavy. It starts off pretty shrunken & almost 3B but quickly falls into waves which I like since no curling iron required :) The info you provide is very helpful. Just wanted you to know 👍💕
Agree about the haircut. My Dr gave me a new med in 3 months my hair started to fall and very knotty. Immediately I went and did a blunt haircut and now working on my crown stimulating the scalp with rosemary oil. With the cut only it made a big difference.
Love your results! Do you have any advice for hair loss due to weight loss? I have been working out and eating healthier, and recently noticed more hair loss than usual. It's freaking me out a bit! 😮
I love Innersense products the I create memory is no exception- I love this gel. I use it with the innersense leave in spray. I style my hair 1x a wk so with this gel I definitely get that BUT by day 4 even though my hair LOOKS AMAZING it feels dry. I’m trying different leave ins to see if maybe the innersense leave in might not be the best for longevity wise
Hi Gena Marie, What are 3 styling products that you'd recommend for 3c low porosity for moisture, definition, and strong hold? I've noticed that the I Create Hold Gel has left dandruff, not sure what to do next
I don’t find I Create Hold has strong hold. It does form a cast, but that cast softens really easily and then there is no hold left behind. Maybe others have different experiences. I actually get more hold from I Create Volume and would use that any day over I Create Hold. I found I Create Curl Memory has strong hold. I found it drying, so I prefer I Create Definition. Quiet Calm Curl Control is a comfort product for me. I love that curl cream, so I highly recommend. If I recommended three products I’d say: 1) Quiet Calm Curl Control, 2) I Create Volume, 3) I Create Definition.
Hey girl, love the end result! I have a completely unrelated question. Do you ever wear your hair up, like in a bun or some cute updo. Over here in Belgium we have lot of rain and a bun is sometimes the best quick solution. Could you maybe do a quick example how you do it? Thanks a million

To my understanding innersense styling products are highly concentrated and need to be used with a lot of water. This probably why you ended up with a super crunchy curls.
