LOL! You should have asked an OSOD load expert. It is an easily made mistake. Tennessee you never croas the scales, you report to the back no questions asked. Illinois, you cross the scale but make sure your provission aheets are up to date. Good move on using the frame of the trailer.👍. Just make sure that there is no way that the hook will slip forward or back. Sometimes you will have to wrap tour chain on the frame to make sure tour binder hook will not slip. Example, if your frame has holes, hook on to the hole. You did one hell of a job driver. 👍. Thats why we have the big hooks to put the small hook on the anckor point of the A/C and the big hook on the frame rail. Good job👍👍👍👍.
That's the difference between you and I, I did rgn for 26 years, all the irration you put up with was the story of my life, honestly I loved it. Weight is where the money is up to 12 wide added a dime to the rate, up to 14 wide 25 cents, give me a gross weight of 160,000 and up, real good money, pull toy here.
Missed you Dan. Thought something was wrong. Glad to see you back. Hope you are not gone so long again. Thanks for this video and the explanation. Take care.
Glad you're back Dan, the extra rate you got for the oversize got swallowed up with fuel that you used, hardly seems worth the extra stress, makes for an interesting video though.Kind Regards from the UK.
I always call the scales to see how they want me to enter. Oversize is worth it, you just have to haul the right freight. I just did $7,200 on 1,043 miles 14’ wide 30,000lbs.
WoW...it definitely killed your milage! Yes it is tedious work and you have to pay attention to details! It aint for folks with short patience thats for sure😝. Glad you made it home safely Dan and enjoy the fair👍
Glad to see you again Dan. When I was OTR i pulled 53' step deck and yes those permits for oversize are a hassel some/most of the time time. From David Lane dont't now why this says my wife's name?
Welcome back but now that you have all that new equipment you'll have to do a couple more oversize loads to pay it off i will cancel the all points bulletin how that we have heard from you be safe
Most oversize loads I see are more trouble than they are worth flat or step, If its not paying really well I wont mess with them. Thanks for the clarification on Tenn. scale , I went through one on 40 last year with oversize and I just did what the sign says and pulled around back, but I never really new for sure if that was correct or not, scalemaster was busy with another truck and just looked at my permit and sent me on my way.
i was hauling an oversized load, coming up to a narrow bridge just before a left curve in a forested area so you couldn't see what was coming, and guess what was coming in the opposite direction?? another oversized load, we hit the bridge at the same time, i swear I puckered up and waited for the impact, I really don't know how we both made it through without our loads connecting, but we did
It's funny, I was considering purchasing an partially completed airplane kit and email'd Dan about him bringing it from Dallas to Phoenix. He politely declined, stating he almost never does oversize loads. Now I understand why.
Dan; two things! Maybe you could talk about chains at rear and requirements for forward shift movement and GPS’s and have you found or know if one that will accept route planning that is required for permit routing.
I am from Finland, our normal truck wide is 2,6 m. I have drived up to 4,4 m with same price because was driving with special transport company. With 4,4 m you need also two pilot cars, but they I dont pay. Up to 3,5 m can drive with out pilot car and thats not nice. height is 4,4 m normal I had permit to 5,0 m. Up to 4,6 m goes quite easy, but more high than that are real pain in arse. So much special roads and longer roads. Wide is here much easier to drive than high.
Thanks for explaining the pains and terrible gas mileage with large loads. I’m guessing a crane is used to remove it. I Hope you Enjoyed seeing Teresa and the Fair. Thanks!
Horses for courses, Dan; I've done a few in the UK but we have to have a police escort which makes it even more irritating, different forces, timings etc. No state lines though.
Philip Lindley The requirements for that very here according to the state and the size of the load. I have seen oversize loads with with just the truck, with the truck and one pilot car, with the truck and two pilot cars, with the truck and two pilot cars plus law enforcement vehicles. From what I have head most oversize load drivers hate police escorts, because they confuse drivers. People see the red and blue lights, so the pull over for the LE vehicle, then they pull back out in front of the truck, or they stay stopped, and then the oversized load has to try and get around them. It just makes the situation worse.
Dan did you ever look into doing Smiths grocery out of Tuscon. Ran into one guy up here in Northern Arizona who just runs up here and back. Says it's great. All paid miles. Only has to at times take some store skid (pallet) dunnage back.
Trucker Dan we was wondering where you was glad to see you back and I don't blame you I wouldn't like oversize load either let somebody else do that stick to what you like like you said your niche have a good time with the wife at home be safe will see you soon
I try to avoid od loads as well!! But I avoid loads that require tarting too so you can keep the steel!! I’ll stick to moving equipment on my step!! Would say that’s a step load but looks to long for mine
Ok where’s the vids? You have me hooked on this life your doing lol. Now do your job and send out some vids!!!! Lmao just kidding you I’m sure your busy and Gabe better things to do than make vids for us lol. But I really like your vids you explain and tell us everything!!!! I’m not a trucker I’m disabled but man your job is fun!!! Lmao Thanks Dan
Too many laws to follow and every state is different... And for an OO most of the ODees don't pay anything nowadays...so unless it's paying really well just not worth it. It's crazy how brokers say 'it pays well' and they are paying crap. Bottom line is at least for me i go by the risk v reward factor, not rate by mile like desk people think. Keep in mind you get all the attention(cops) and risk(motorist and alike). Happy n safe travels to my fellow truckers!!
I'm under an rgn, and yes, alot of oversized.. I FEEL UR PAIN!!! Every state is different. How they list ur routes, what scales want u to come in and say "hi", and which scales dont want u to come in unless told to, the curfews, the list is long. The speed limits, like in az, mi, nm, oh, omg!!! Anyways, it is what it is. I do like legal loads...
There's nothing wrong with oversize, just don't do it cheap. Two-hundred percent of the usual is your target PLUS permits. How much were the permits, 5-10K?
I am a fan of oversize loads. Three major problems with them. Too many rookies hauling them and have no idea what they are doing. Most haul or bid it to cheap and people don’t know how how to operate around them.
well at least u didn't need an escort service, vehicle in front and one in back.u the owner operator has to pay those guys, and buy a room every night, for them, maybe im wrong, yes so how much more money u gonna make, your fuel milage, escort service, and if your really heavy you get to cross bridges by yourself, just u and the truck
I run a std flatbed and will only do oversize if it's paying stupid money. Oversized loads interfere with my strategy of avoiding interactions with the dot as well.
Listen Super Dan the man. Please for the love of God, do not take oversize loads any more this way you'll get 7 miles to the gallon. And don't go to the fair back home, no money no honey you know what they say Dan...
Good to see you back it's been 21 days since we last saw you.
I do oversize all the time. It is up to the personality of the driver.
Good to see you Dan. We all have been thinking of you.
I was getting worried, I was getting ready to start an accident search
I checked his Twitter just to make sure he was good.
Dan, good to hear you are safe and ready for the Fair - enjoy...
Good to see you're back Dan, sounds like one big headache 👍👍
Like you, I remind myself why I do things the way i do. You just need a reminder.
Why would anyone want an air conditioner unit in Tuscon? ;) Have fun at the fair.

So Dan, tell us how you really feel about oversized loads ;-) have a great home visit!
Missed you Dan. Thought something was wrong. Glad to see you back. Hope you are not gone so long again.
Thanks for this video and the explanation. Take care.
Glad to see you are OK. You had us all worried.
Next time you take unscheduled leave you gotta let us know. 😀
Thanks Dan for update
Watched this in 2024 and now you have a big sleeper. Sometimes dream come true
I totally agree with you on this oversize thing, i have done them and its totally crazy the stress and extra crap you go through.
Badass video, thanks for showing how you secured that load!
Nice too see you back again Dan, have a great off time :-)
Best trucking channel love this guy
Good video safe travels dan
I have been waiting for this video....
Dan glad to see you back posting. Hope you have a better load heading east when you are back on the road again.
Glad you're back Dan, the extra rate you got for the oversize got swallowed up with fuel that you used, hardly seems worth the extra stress, makes for an interesting video though.Kind Regards from the UK.
you have been missed. enjoy your family time.
I always call the scales to see how they want me to enter. Oversize is worth it, you just have to haul the right freight. I just did $7,200 on 1,043 miles 14’ wide 30,000lbs.
How many states, escorts?tolls?days on the load?
Aj no tolls, no escort. Two days loaded and a day and a half empty back home. Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Delivered in Utah.
👍😎👍Lol they can keep them oversize loads they don't pay nearly enough for the hassle.
I agree !!
Not true. My price was $8-$10/Mile to the truck PLUS permits.
WoW...it definitely killed your milage! Yes it is tedious work and you have to pay attention to details! It aint for folks with short patience thats for sure😝. Glad you made it home safely Dan and enjoy the fair👍

Ted Saylor what’s the dimensions?? When are you needing it moved I’ll be back in the Dallas area after next week lhill@tandltransports.com
I am in forest city Iowa.. and I am the same... love good looking trucks....

I think that's the AC I ordered for my 28 foot trailer LOL...... Was nice to see ya, has been awhile.....
think that will keep my little R.V. cool? Dan.
Thanks for explaining the pains and terrible gas mileage with large loads. I’m guessing a crane is used to remove it. I Hope you Enjoyed seeing Teresa and the Fair. Thanks!
I have over 500 in my oversize stuff. It's a pain some days but I enjoy the challenge.
Cool video Dan 👍😎
Love my oversized loads. I do about 3 a month. I’m a low pro step 53’

You are just tired..get some good rest, and you will be good to go...
At least you didn't have to tarp it....😁
good load
04/4/22. Just wondering 🤔 be safe out there!...
If you had prepass you can bypass scale in Tennessee, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin even with an oversize.
Enjoy the fair!!
Trucker Dan we was wondering where you was glad to see you back and I don't blame you I wouldn't like oversize load either let somebody else do that stick to what you like like you said your niche have a good time with the wife at home be safe will see you soon
Great to see your video. I was worried you quit making them,. Did you need a escort?
Finally 😊
I try to avoid od loads as well!! But I avoid loads that require tarting too so you can keep the steel!! I’ll stick to moving equipment on my step!! Would say that’s a step load but looks to long for mine
In UK hauling a "gondola" (container with just front and back-no sides/top) these reduced your mpg by half! and speed also.
Lmao
Thanks
Dan
I can say with confidence, that is the biggest air conditioner I’ve ever seen!
Wow the average person has no idea what you go through for that. Safe travels!
Too many laws to follow and every state is different...

Not Bad
I was once late for a library meeting and when asked why, I explained that a house was stuck in the middle of a nearby town. It was an oversize load.
That's all I do is oversized and overweight but I pull a RGN so you take the good with the bad
Boa noite, lindo vídeo
If ya like hauling steel you need to get a quick draw system
I'm in Tucson tonight :-)
👍🏼

Thanks for Watching
"That's what she said" -Michael Scott
Oversized for 2 years, definitely my Niche. But *No thanks* on the 3 miles per gallon 😮
Been wondering where y 'all were at.
Muy bien
Pretty big A/C. I've hauled some big ones myself but not that big.
There's nothing wrong with oversize, just don't do it cheap. Two-hundred percent of the usual is your target PLUS permits. How much were the permits, 5-10K?
I believe his company pays for the permits so he probably doesn’t know
@@njovwevnjweV - The cost of the permit is listed on the permit.
Matt Shaw yeah, I thought about that a little bit after I posted my comment. My bad
I am a fan of oversize loads. Three major problems with them. Too many rookies hauling them and have no idea what they are doing. Most haul or bid it to cheap and people don’t know how how to operate around them.
Where did you get that oversize banner with the flag pockets?
Where did you buy that sign at looks cool
👍. 👍. 👌
One year ago? LOL no wonder I seen the rust on the trailer :-)
👍😉
It's like hauling a big break through the wind oh, no wonder your fuel mileage sucked. Damn
Can you see around a load that wide with your mirrors, or do you have some other means of seeing what's behind you?
What speed do you normally drive and how does speed affect fuel economy? Is there a sweet spot extra fuel burn for getting more miles in?
Oversize is why i quit a company,it rakes up alit of time and to hard and experience to cross bridges,it cost me 360 dlrs to cross GW bridge in NYC
what did you do for mirrors? they where always my concern.
You think you would ever haul another OD load?
Where did you get your oversize banners from? I can’t seem to find those any where
Dan, why was fuel mileage so bad with that light load ?? Was it the wind drag ??
well at least u didn't need an escort service, vehicle in front and one in back.u the owner operator has to pay those guys, and buy a room every night, for them, maybe im wrong, yes so how much more money u gonna make, your fuel milage, escort service, and if your really heavy you get to cross bridges by yourself, just u and the truck
You can blame brokers for the shitty pay.. I own a heavy haul company and my profit margins are insane. But I refuse to get brokered loads
I run a std flatbed and will only do oversize if it's paying stupid money. Oversized loads interfere with my strategy of avoiding interactions with the dot as well.
Cool load and you did a good job. So I think OVERSIZE LOADS are in your nitch.lol
Listen Super Dan the man.
Please for the love of God, do not take oversize loads any more this way you'll get 7 miles to the gallon.
And don't go to the fair back home, no money no honey you know what they say Dan...
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿😮😮
I agree, not a fan. You had it right, to much baby sitting.
How many ton unit is that Dan???
Man I bet that's tough keeping it in a lane on windy hilly roads?
Big Booty Smasher nowhere as bad as a empty dry van on windy days
Dont blame you at all Dan they are a big pain in the ass!
Once you do it for awhile you just do everything to make it legal for every state no matter where you are.
Dan so sounds like it's a pain in the ass as far as what you normally do.
