I trained at Roehl flatbed division Gary, IN. We called it combat training if you have ever been to Gary you know what I'm talking about. I go out with my trainer Wed. for 24 days and I'm pretty sure I'll be watching your videoes.
I know I am four years late but I like the remote microphone. Talking us through the process is sweet. "Moan and groan" and "huff and puff" means you're working! Be safe, Dan! God bless.
Dan I really hope you continue with your separate little mic thing you have,I really like it and every thing sounds good, you shouldn't bother about huffing and puffing its part of working and once you can do it with out huffing and puffing you'll try to get quicker so you'll still huff and puff it's the way you can get fit again and have a work out while tapping your load
This could be a tutorial on how to secure and cover steel channels. The key thing to remember is be safe. I truly appreciate all the efforts you make when producing this content for UA-cam. You should try selling some swag with this platform, I think there could be some interest. Be safe while moving the materials that make the USA great. The microphone works great, same with the camera location.
A very informative post Dan. I don't have to tarp anymore. I'm using a curtain side trailer now. As I age, I was starting to have "too many" close calls walking on the edge of a load. My wife rode along with me for 10 days and brought it to my attention. At 60, I don't bounce as good as I used to. I needed a new trailer, and the safety & ease of use of the "curtain side" made it an easy decision to spend the extra dollars. Makes me shutter to see lads walking along the tops of lumber/steel now. Stay safe, don't die!👍👍
WOW how things are different in USA to Australia, Steel trailers need secure strong head board up front for us, then we have to use chains on heavy steel, no standing on trailer, driver to stand in drivers safety zone while being loaded, Some places we have overhead safety wire & you use a harness & clip to safety wire while walking on trailer securing ones load, sure hurts your man hood 😆, Most places I go to have a 3m safety zone around forklift, We have less & less of the old school loading, unloading with safety man & strict safety laws, We have had several drivers killed in Australia from items sliding of trailer loading & unloading, plus some crane failures mainly slings. Times are a changing, safety 3rd 😆😆
Hey dan that’s a cool mic you got. The camera shot is perfect we can see everything you’re talking about and not bouncing all around like a head cam does. Nice job with the video and securing your load.
Dan, your videos are never ever boring,I'm always glad when you do another one, of all the other drivers doing these videos, I only like Yours, Indiana Jack, and Sergei Dratchev, because you tell it like it is and no stupid music and no BS, thanks for your videos.
I always wondered how flatbed worked thanks Dan for sharing it gave me a whole different respect to flatbed work . When all I am is a dry van door slinger .
going good so far just wish your videos where longer i enjoy watching trucker videos ... and i want to thank you for all the work you trucker's do to get all the stuff we people need to us .
Well Dan i was not board you just made me tiered i had to take a nap after you finish with that fine job of trapping well done 👍, and that mic worked great even at the back of your trailer !
Great video not boring at all. Very informative. Glad to see you're back to work making videos , I was having withdrawals missing Super Trucker Dan videos. Glad you had a good vacation in Arizona.
Of all the Mercer drivers I have followed, and I'm sorry if you quit....seems like all the Mercer guys I follow quit Mercer, but you are the most interesting and informative. Thanks for the great videos.
This is absolutely the way to do it Dan. No moving camera shaking all over the place while you are moving around going about your business. And voice was clear too. Definitely the best setup. And I was wondering why no tier straps for bottom pile? Something I would have definitely done, but that's just me .
When I haul steel plates I usually take my 3'ft plastic edge protectors and hang them off the front and rear edges about 5-6 inches. Better than carrying around some dirty old blankets. Haven't torn a tarp yet.
Dan, your videos are excellent and keep getting better!!! The new mic makes them the next best thing to being there. The whole package now makes each and every load more real to the viewer. As for the huffing and puffing... that's real too! Part of the entire experience and made me feel like I was beside you. I really appreciate all your efforts and thanks for keeping it real. Stay safe out there.
Not boring at all Dan! Great job talking us through your routine of tarping! Hey that huffing and puffing is called work and I don't know one person that can do a tarp job and not be breathing hard, your all good Dan dont worry about it.
Wireless mic works great. Tnx for no cap camera. A guy who does towing videos uses a helmet cam which almost makes a person sick. Now I understand why my son only drove flat beds for a year of his 40 years of driving then switched to vans! What a lot of work!
Who decides if a load gets tarped or not? Imagine doing this in the rain, snow, and wind?? Very neat job and I will look at trucks with tarped loads on the road with a whole new perspective now Dan. Great videos and thank you for sharing. The new mike is great too!! Jim.
Hi! After a sunny Sunday two hours walk enter the sofa and watch a briljant video with professional loading skills by excentell crane operator and Dan the man tarping and securing it down, make the day!👍💪 I did a flatbed job myselves last thursday, trailer was shipped overseas in fridays and will be delivered to Blackburn and Newcastle UK next week! To much tarps ain´t enough🤗. Keep them comin
Hi Dan. Watching this in my cab in Fakenham in the uk 🇬🇧🤣 I started my lorry career back in 1980 on flat beds carrying steel pipes. When we put sheets on we didn’t have straps back then only chains and ropes 🙈 My boss would hit us with a 4X4 block of wood if his name wasn’t even down both sides of the tarp and it was flapping 😫 I drive a mobile medical scanner trailer now made by medicoach in the US. Great video on tarping lol 😆 Great camera work as it was really clear and the new mic is superb 👍🏻 Love the rains as I’m a train enthusiast too Thanks for taking the time to do these fantastic videos Stevie 😎🇬🇧
Dan the only trucking I've never done is heavy haul, flat bed and reefer,I have pulled liquid fret tankers, dry van, rear end dumps, although I have helped a guy sheet his flat bed load of pallet e'd animal feed before,I know how to tie down tarps on a flat bed just through the teachings of my late father,I like talking to truck drivers all over the world about various different aspects of loading tarring loads hauling loads and the maintainence side of trucking,it keeps my brain working
This video reminded me - positively - of "The Joy of Painting" with Bob Ross. All you needed to do was call your equipment "happy little straps." I loved this video because it was informative and strangely relaxing (for us - I'd imagine it wasn't very relaxing for you).
hey Dan, wireless mic. Works great. find the footage very informative not boring at all, keep showing us how you strap and tarp all the different kinds of flatbed loads. keep up the good work and greetings from a loyal follower from Holland europe
Not at all boring. Loved it! Most drivers vlogs just have them sitting in their cans talking. Your's are much more informative. Like your new mike, Dan!
Not to much huffing and puffin old lad😆😆😉😉 Nice set up for the video worked well. Love how those buildings have no room to manoeuvre to get into dark little door holes!!! Nothing changes. Be safe keep her shinny side up Dan.
Great job on everything. What doesn't make sense... is they have their product sitting out in the weather, yet they want you to tarp it... anyway, great video and keep up the good work brother.
Was not boring. Although I pulled a dry box for most of career I first hauled open equipment in the Army my first job after obtaining my CDL in 1991 was delivering building supplies local. Keep up the good videos. When you're dead is when you're too old to learn.
One old trucker to another always enjoy what you choose to share with us. I am a great believer in "use whatever works best" chains/straps/etc. I did however just about fall out of my chair when you referred to the "D" rings on your tarps as ..."do-dads" things 😂 , I guess the d's pretty much covers it. As always keep the shiny side up!👍😎
Not boring at all, love to see what the job entails, your work is more than driving. Planning ahead, the type of load you will be picking up, the rate you will be paid, those things are interesting! And maintenance to the rig, wow, sure takes more than just driving! JAT, a 4 wheeler, but interested in your work!
Loved the video and that camera angle was great you get to actually see how you do everything...thanks Dan I have learned so much from you.Stay safe out there
Hi Dan, setup and audio was great. Yes tapping is great exercise, up and down off the trailer and lifting those doggone heavy traps up on the trailer, and if your short like me, lifting almost a 100lbs of tarp over your head just to get it on the trailer, then put it up on the load,...really like those knee high loads. Stay safe and glad your back.
It's always a pleasure watching an expert at work, even securing and tarping a load of steel beams. The wireless mic works very well. Every review I watched/read said that the Rode Wireless Go was a great buy. Most said the wind noise muffler was prone to falling off. Please make sure you clip it in fully. Thanks for taking the time to make these great films. Greetings from Scotland.
Improved audio is great! Don't be afraid of boring us. Too many videos "gloss over" the technical details of things, and many of us "armchair" truckers who will never be on the road wnat to know what we would be up against if we were actually out there, doing ir. Keep on truckin'.
Another high quality video brought to you by Super Trucker Dan Productions. Great video. Enjoyed the commentary while you work. Very informative. Thank you for sharing.
Dan, love to ride along with you....this was one of your best yet...showing the technical aspects of tarping a load...many points that the average motorist would never see/appreciate going down the road. Thank you again for showing such detail. Your mic is a wonderful addition. As always, travel safely!
Never bored Dan. Your the best I remember good old days doing Exactly that. But I had covered Eagan Pulled coils. East chicago , Toyota motors goarge town Kentucky load Am steel in Ohio right back too chicago
Thank You Dan for an excellent video. You are a professional and a credit to your profession. That is why I always enjoy your videos. Be safe and God Bless.
What the hell is a seel beam? They look like steel beams to me. Great Video, thanks! I never get bored watch someone work, I wish "I could still do it myself, Thursday was 23 months since I had my 9-hour triple bypass and some day even walking around the apartment is a chore. Drive safe.
This new viewing set up works. I like it. Especially the wireless mic, really helps a lot. Hope to see more videos like this. Thanks and stay safe all the time Trucker Dan 👌👌👌
As someone who's about to begin his flatbed journey I don't find this boring at all, it's actually very informative. Thank you.
I wholeheartedly agree with you. Not boring in the least.
Same here!! I'm about to take my driving test at the California DMV and hopefully get set up driving a flatbed. I need stuff like this.
@@laances.8798 Good luck, you got this!
Steven Andrews Superdan is spot on, he offers expert techniques and shares many skills that will enhance a career for sure.
I trained at Roehl flatbed division Gary, IN. We called it combat training if you have ever been to Gary you know what I'm talking about. I go out with my trainer Wed. for 24 days and I'm pretty sure I'll be watching your videoes.
I really like that wireless mic
The perfect setup Dan. Enjoyed the show.
Your videos are never boring.

I watched you through the whole procedure. You did it just the way I did it when i drove OTR. 69 years old now and still enjoy your videos.
Thanks for Watching
Yes your lapel mic sounds great.
Dan - NOT boring at all. I feel like a slug sitting here at home watching you. Another educational video. Thank you . Paul
Dan, this was NOT boring at all, very informative and instructional for all flatbed newbies out there who don't have much experience. Cheers mate.
A very informative post Dan. I don't have to tarp anymore. I'm using a curtain side trailer now. As I age, I was starting to have "too many" close calls walking on the edge of a load. Huffing and puffing? I’d be gurgling and gasping. 😳 Great as usual. Excellent mike. 👍
Don't forget weezing. LOL
Hey Dan, That mic. works great...Good work out....
Hi Dan that Mic sounds great, that's a nice looking load . The way you have have the camera and that Mic set up really a GREAT VIDEO. Safe trip.
Thanks for watching
It works. Very interesting. I would encourage more like this.
Bluetooth mike great Dan, the puffing and panting shows the exercise is doing you good keep it up.
Mercer should show this to flatbeders. Great tutorial.
Awesome video bud. Thank you. That mic sounded amazing. Money well spent. Be safe.
Thanks for watching

There are some places in the US that make drivers wear a harness and connect to an overhead support while on the trailer.
Hey dan that’s a cool mic you got. The camera shot is perfect we can see everything you’re talking about and not bouncing all around like a head cam does. Nice job with the video and securing your load.
Great video Dan! The cordless mic is awesome !!
Dan, your videos are never ever boring,I'm always glad when you do another one, of all the other drivers doing these videos, I only like Yours, Indiana Jack, and Sergei Dratchev, because you tell it like it is and no stupid music and no BS, thanks for your videos.
By far the best! Keep posting more like these. Every load is different so it never gets boring to watch.
Really enjoyed this video, reminds me of my flatbed days, only in those days we used chains instead of straps, great video do more of them like this.

Interesting to see how you secure and sheet your load. It’s all part of the job.
Well Dan i was not board you just made me tiered i had to take a nap after you finish with that fine job of trapping well done 👍, and that mic worked great even at the back of your trailer !
This works, not boring at all. Would enjoy seeing more vids like this.
clear sound, liked tarping my loads. nice crisp tight tarps tied down. folded edges when possible. nice job Dan.
Great video not boring at all. Very informative. Glad to see you're back to work making videos , I was having withdrawals missing Super Trucker Dan videos. Glad you had a good vacation in Arizona.
I wish every presenter used that mic. Great sound.
Hey Dan, you're like the "Bob Ross" of tarping 😅
Of all the Mercer drivers I have followed, and I'm sorry if you quit....seems like all the Mercer guys I follow quit Mercer, but you are the most interesting and informative. Thanks for the great videos.
I have been with Mercer for almost 9 years now. I’m not going anywhere.
Thanks for watching
Not boring at all. Gives a great overview of what’s involved in tarping the right way and how involved and strenuous it can be especially in the heat.
This is absolutely the way to do it Dan. No moving camera shaking all over the place while you are moving around going about your business. And voice was clear too. Definitely the best setup. Great Dan. I enjoy the explanations on how you decide how to take care of all the different loads you haul!
Not at all boring. Loved it!

Like your new mike, Dan!
Thanks Dan. I bet you’re an expert at wrapping odd shaped Christmas gifts.
Hi Dan, the mic sounds awesome. I enjoyed watching you strap and tarp the load. Please keep doing that if you can.

Yes, great job in explaining the whole tarping process.
Great video. The mic works great. Really like your attention to details, very informative on flatbed work.👍👍👍
Awesome job, for people that have never seen that you make it look simple but I know that is a lot of work! Safe travels!
Great job on everything. What doesn't make sense... is they have their product sitting out in the weather, yet they want you to tarp it... anyway, great video and keep up the good work brother.
Thanks 4 the video Dan and as always great tarping job
Its nice to watch the tarping from an old trucker from the 60.

I like how you take your time to do things. GB
Dan, enjoyed the tarping video. Looking forward to more. Wireless mic worked well.
Thanks for the video
Talking and hard work at the same time is hard to do. You get winded quicker. Good video, Thanks Dan.

This might be really boring is not a good marketing line Dan. Great video.
LOL
The title makes people think and click on the video so they can judge for them self. It’s kind of a little click bait.
Thanks for watching
Mic sounds nice & Camera on a magnet mount is nice and live action load securement is nice 👌
Enjoyed this, I don't think any of your videos are boring, always interesting. 👍👍😊
Nice tarp job, looks pretty good 😎 and thanks for the explanations Dan 👍👍 greetz from Germany 😉
Thanks for taking the time to explain the process
Mic sounds great

Good film! Sound perfect! I think I'll stick with my dry box!
That was a great vid. It brings back memories. I pulled flat bed for the first 10 years I drove back in the 80s. Great job.
Nice job, thanks. Sure beats chains, binders and canvas tarps.
This new viewing set up works. I like it. Especially the wireless mic, really helps a lot. Hope to see more videos like this. Thanks and stay safe all the time Trucker Dan 👌👌👌
