I just finished listening to the podcast Mobbed up the fight for Las Vegas and it talks all about the history of this hotel. Really great podcast and highly recommend.
The post-implosion fireworks - some of the firework shells had a lot of black powder (my guess) and that was why the noise from the aerial shells was so deafening. But some people like fireworks really loud like this in pro displays--even though this display only lasted - maybe 7 minutes.

Those were the days! When the tropicana gets imploded it will go in history to be the most boring implosion ever! There is nothing left but a skeleton!

Here is what I would say if I were the head pyrotechnician leader in the Aladdin implosion, from the walkie-talkie conversation from the demolition workers, just as the pre-implosion salutes are going to be fired...... "OK, the firing board is now yellow on the pyrotechnic salutes.....we have a hold still.....(25 beats.) Clear, clear, clear, clear." "OK, we are all clear, now you have a go to change to red on the salute firing board. All red, armed and ready to fire, on the count of 3, you fire the 3 salutes every 2 seconds, one after another. OK. On my mark, one, two, three, MARK--Fire salute one! Salute two! Salute three!" (Sound of 3 aerial bombs going off every 2 seconds.) "We have audible and visual of the salutes going up and confirmation of all three aerial bombs had blasted in the air....." "All we need to do is wait for the demolition company to implode the building, and about 3 minutes after this building goes down, I will give the order to fire the additional firework cakes."
My friend and I were on a cross country trip and happened to be in Vegas when this happened. We watched it but from afar figuring there'd be a ton of dust and man was there. People who were close were covered and looked similar to what people who were outside of the twin towers did when they went down. People were also selling dust masks and the closer you went to the Aladdin, the more they were asking for them. I think the most I remember someone asking was $10 or $15 per mask.
30:59 I have respect for that trash can that decided to ride out the implosion
I think the trash can survived
rest of the world: we should preserve history.
Las Vegas: haha dynamite go boom
With a firework show on top!
real
Stayed at the Aladdin twice in the 1990s. It was my favorite place on the Strip.

Same here. Just finished it a few minutes ago and had to check this out.

The pre-implosion pyro salutes were really loud. Lots of flash powder to make it really go "boom!!!"
@@charlessmith263The music sounded familiar while they showed replays of the implosion. What was it?

Las Vegas try to preserve it’s history challenge (impossible)
This hotel closed just four days after the movie I got my profile picture from was released.
the implosion sounds oddly muffled
did they put a mic inside the building by any chance?
Well you have to consider the building was demolished in 1998, and the 1990s and early 2000s weren't exactly known for their camera and audio quality.
It’s just crazy to think that in 2006 I was 4 and the footage looks like it’s from the 80s ! Haha
The Sands should have been preserved as a Historical Site. Shame on Clark County
Las Vegas changed for years
