From someone who only got to see this video, with no one on Las Vegas Blvd for what looked like a mile in each direction, do you know how far the area was secured from traffic (both foot traffic and auto)?

Our first visit to USA for our honeymoon in 1980. Flew in to LA on Skytrain and stayed at the Tropicana in Vegas for a few nights. A wonderful experience. Sad to see it go but what a great send off!
CDI engineering makes it look routine and easy every time. As an engineer myself I know some of the very hard work that goes into this but they make it look so simple when they drop the building straight down to the exact target. Congratulations to one of the BEST engineering teams on earth.
@@jdriver1419That looked too stable and fast to be a drone swarm but the Tropicana definitely was. There'd probably be more of a visible trail with lasers though so I'm not sure. It is pretty amazing what they can do with drones now. Very well done regardless. Vegas knows certainly knows how to put on a show.
That was a thing of beauty. Kudos on the team that set up those shots,. Concrete pulverized, rebar overloaded and the ibeams all cut to the millisecond. Nice work team, you all deserve fat pay cheques for that one. Cheers!
If anyone is curious on what fell from the Paradise Tower at 4:07 and a couple other angles. Those are the pods that contain the expensive firing systems for the fireworks on the roofs of the buildings. There is a line you can't quite see that they slide down on to a distance from the tower just before it collapses.

Sad to see an old piece of Vegas history go; but if there’s any way for it to make its exit, this is it! Awesome shot. CDI is definitely a leader of demolition projects. Dropped those buildings in a very small footprint. The drone and fireworks displays were cool too, Thanks Grucchi!
Someone posted a video here on YT about this, recorded on location. I asked them, in the comments, only one thing: "Is this a CDI demolition?" So glad to find the answer.
Wow the pyrotechnics and laser light were absolutely sick. The technology to do this nowadays is amazing. And as always a by-the-book professional demolition!
The explosions are carefully calculated to provide the exact force needed at the correct moment in time to cause gravity to drop the building onto the target. CDI doesn't just blow out the vertical beams and hope nothing goes wrong. They are expert level structural engineers who carefully calculate the explosive loads on every component of the building to ensure nothing goes wrong. Blowing beams in a carefully calculated order drops the building right on target.
