when create mask by alpha we can sharp the mask right? so we dont have to bother sculpt manually the pattern, anyway your tutorial series is freakin useful man especially for beginner like me, thank you so much!
hi! i'm stuck at 2:15 , when you increase v tiles and h tiles to 2, to make the alpha bigger, all the alphas that i tried (downloaded from zbrush) when i try to increas h and v tiles to 2 they became 4 separed alphas and i really dont understand why.
I've got the same alpha, but using mask by alpha on my tree is giving me straight lines instead of wavy ones in your tutorial Any idea what's going wrong or different?
As I said over there that I downloaded some alphas externally and imported in ZBrush. You can download from pixologic.com . - support - resources. You also can create your own alpha in Photoshop.
I seem to be having some trouble. When I switch from the 4th subdiv level back to the 5th after smoothing and using morph brush, the creases and some roughness comes back, so I have to do it all over again. Is this an issue with Morph target?
Good evening, honestly I don`t have hope that somebody will reply but I am losing nothing by trying my luck and ask.. I really tried to find the answer on my own around the internet for the last 5 hours but unsuccessful. On 08:17 we can see how the teacher draws a line with brush/alpha and its follows the direction and makes a perfect line. In my case - brush/alpha draws not a line, but makes I I I I I scratches ( I am sorry I don`t know how to say aaaaa) doesn`t matter is that with the lazy mouse or not. When I try to draw to the right or left side it doesn't makes ------- line, only I I I I I, only with this orientation! Please, tell me what I am missing! Does anybody know?
hello, i was facing the exact same problem. so turns out its because out brush alpha is still tiled to 6/6 from when we applied the second inflation by mask, making that 1 /1 fixes this issue and defaults the brush

Instead of using the Slash brush to exaggerate the patern, wouldnt be better or faster using the mask by cavity tool?
Yes that could be done. The result will be little different. But yes we have to choose any one process.

Actually rotating the alpha fixed it ( after doing the UVs )

you should be able to end with the same result but zbrush has so many option that makes sculpting much easier. the time difference is huge

Yes, for ZBrush you can export obj and for Substance Painter export fbx.
