Here is a little tip for Nova users. because the lightengine is so advanced, it can display colors beyond the Rec. 709 standard, so it might be better in some use cases to turn down the Saturation for colored light. In very unscientific terms, the nova is so colorful it can “blow out” color Chanel’s. That effect might not always be wanted. Especially when trying to mimic colored paper backdrops. If one area of the image has away higher saturation then others it can look artificial. This was never really a problem as lights could never achieve so extreme colors. Thanks for your patience reading this! I am just very fascinated by exiting new technologies in Filmmaking. I really think you should stop making videos by the way. I think we all had quite enough! 😉
this guys really intended to teach us how the lighting should be, not just for show off or youtube contents. very detail and easy to understand . thanks alot
Dude this is freaking EPIC... I bought a Nanlite Mixed 150 panel... Now I wish I would have spent $800 more and got the Nova... I’m still gonna try this... Thanks for the ideas
I hate being told what to do, so I'm subscribing and hitting the thumbs up And here's a positive comment: I hope and your families are healthy and safe! IN YOUR FACE!
I subscribed with the first video, I fell in love during the second one. Amazing videos!! thank you!! hey, any cheaper alternative to the nova lights? I guess some cheap led lights and gels could do....but having the comfort of just pressing button on the phone is amazing.
Great video, thanks a lot! I think a low budget version could be to use some Philips hue lamps for the background. Probably won’t create a nice even color, but for hobbyists can be fun to play around with for like 1/15th of the price.
Great! can you please say something about the grey backgroundwall? What is the surface, something special? and is that a special paint you use? Maybe to achive a perfect mir-grey? :D
Bro, you (and your team) do a fantastic job. Great description on these lights I’ve never heard of before. Also, enjoy the “reality show” bits, as well. Quite funny! Nice work..keep it going and I’ll be watching!
Do you recomend barndoors or the softbox first? I can buy just one for now and already have COB and big octaboxes. What would you get? Barndoors or softbox ?
Over 100K subscribers! Weren't you at a small fraction of that just a couple months ago? Congrats at the (well-deserved) growth! And thanks for the videos!
At least you got Lynn to even sit in for the demo. No amount of bribery will get my wife in front of the cameras. Also, you mention that 2 zone isn't possible without a large space. Truth is, you can do it, but with grids, higher angle lights, and flags. Not the easiest, but do-able if there is room for all the gear.
Yes anyone can achieve this look all you need is about 7 to $8,000 worth of lighting gear. Now back into reality most people couldn't even afford 5 light stands.
Can you make a video attempting to do this lighting in a teeny tiny room? I wonder if you used layers of shower curtains to diffuse and position the lights on the ground pointing up so it doesn't bounce back, if you could get close.
So glad that Lynn is back! Although, I have to say I can see why she prefers Potato Jet to you. You really need to get a handle on the drug abuse! I think that people are going to subscribe just out of sympathy for you.
Awesome content, it is so obvious you love the work. The positive energy you pass on through these videos puts a smile on my face while watching it. By the way you should not heart this comment, in fact you should delete it. By pressing the Hawaii button.
Question; instead of using a grid plus lighting modifiers, couldn't you just take the grid off and rotate the key in towards the face so the light wraps around better?
Can you pls make a Video about product Lighting? Plsssss i Love your Videos and missing this Issue actually By you. And Thank you so much for all your fantastic know how i Love it and you help me so much! :)
That extra tip at the end is underrated!
We LOVE LYNN BTW!!!!
Matching room lighting with the Novas has been HUGE for speeding up some of our shoots.
@@EpicLightMedia any cheaper alternative? The Neewer RGB light panels perhaps?
Yes a cheaper alternative would be nice, if it exists

@@dreamvisionproductions9504 No, I have those and no.
I really appreciate all the detail you go into. Most tutorials talk to me like I have a clue what I'm doing. I do not. Thank you.
Agreed
I hate it when I accidentally buy extra lights.
Exactly...
my credit card barely lets me buy essential lights...
i also hate having money
Lynn is the only reason I watch these videos
Getting giddy about playing with white balance is the wholesome content I need right now.
100%

Very inspiring. Thanks a lot! I will try this technique with the chin and key light reflector in my videos.
Awesome concept! We, the poor people can achieve it (more less) with gels! But it´s an amazing idea!
*I WILL DO EXACTLY OPPOSITE of what you said and DO ALL THE THREE. I LIKED and SUBSCRIBED.*

Right!?!?

Would have loved to have seen you set the two panels to different colors to create a gradient!

Wow! The exact video I was looking for..! ✌️
Average joes can only choose one:
1. Spacious studio
Or
2. Expensive Aputure LEDs
We love you Lynn :-D
Wow, It got weird towards the end! Lynn, we love you! Come back!
Are you kidding?! Lynn is the reason I'm here!
"They are very expensive, and we accidentally bought two of them..."

Curious how you could achieve something close to this, but using pocket lights?
Question; instead of using a grid plus lighting modifiers, couldn't you just take the grid off and rotate the key in towards the face so the light wraps around better?
} The whitebalance trick is also great for an in-camera teal & orange blockbuster/SF look.

Yes!!!!! One of my favorites

most helpful!!
Good stuff! Does the background have to be grey for this work?
Hey!! No, it could be white as well... we like grey cause it’s a good middle ground that can become white black or any other color.
Wow, you sure know a lot about lighting! "Where did you learn that DRUG SCHOOL?"
Always getting value out of your videos! maybe Lynn could show up when y'all have the intervention for the mosquito bites😉
What small lightstand you used when the light was behind the model
Bro you’re like the Bill Nye of production
What a compliment!!
Y’all deserve it. Loved the matte painting video, so fun and fresh. Keep it up!!!
I know you do your best to be bad... So I don't know if I say it's bad, it's a compliment or not you know. Very clever nonetheless.
