  • The Nova P300C and the Amaran P60C are both fantastic lights...but which one fits your use case? In this video I test the output for the lights, the best use cases, and how you maybe should not use them. Comparing the Amaran P60c and the Aputure P300c to see which one you should buy. This lighting test yielded some surprising results, mostly due to the output of the P60c. This thing is BRIGHT! At the end of this video I give you reasons you should buy one of the lights as opposed to the other one, so stay tuned.

    I have a P60C and I don't use it where my 100d with a softbox is what's needed. I use it as it was made. It's a tool that's best for some specific uses. I laid it under a steel set of stairs in a warehouse with a really high ceiling. We blew fog straight up through the stairs and this light lit up everything in a thick red color as the girl who was being chased by Freddy frantically came down the stairs in this "boiler room." I could not believe how much light this thing put out and how cinematic it looked. Also, when we were shooting an interior house room, but needed to see the action taking place outside the window too, the P60C brought up the inside in a warmer light to expose the wall and the girl on the loveseat in front of the window, who was oblivious to the horror happening outside. We got great exposure both inside and out the window. Just needed a little kicker coming from the other side of the room. This light is fantastic. Creates "weird" feels for room with very saturated color for those kinds of scenes. Also convenient with warm to cold white light, and the softbox provides just what's needed. Of course there are times when the 300 Nova would be needed, but not in the projects I do (Indie film, commercials, shorts). The P60C is a steal at its price.

    I recently got two sets of the Aputure MC 4 light kits I just got a pair of these. This system is fantastic. Though on these P60Cs I plan to build some kind of stirrup for mounting onto a baby pin. I can see on the Left and Right 1/4-20 threads there are notches for a better mounting system. Aputure did have this in mind. Maybe they just want to add it later as an upgrade?

      Maybe! I love the MC lights as well.

    @JAMImagery I would be interested in a new comparison video such as this, for the Amaran 150c and 300c point lamps just released.

      Just test it.. what is wrong with you people needing UA-cam to rely on professional work. Oh my.. Generation useless is calling

    I was looking for a video like this. Thanks!
    Just got two p60c units. Both are giving me 4000lux at 1m, 5600k. Far away from the 5900lux Aputure has promissed. The store did the test too and got the same results as I did. That and the mount are really down sides to me :(

      Sorry to hear that! It’s still a great light, but you have to appreciate that it’s not explicitly designed for professional use.

      @@vitorg.delduque367 Totally agree. That is quite a bit. Have you checked with other P60c’s to see what their output is? Maybe your plug isn’t allowing it to draw enough power.

      @@JAMImagery yeah. I tested both of my units and the store also have checked 14 others with their own equipment, having the same result as I did. I used the same plug I use to power an 1k fresnel. I really think it's about bad propaganda or some factory problem. Still waiting for a reply from the representative. The light is great, tho...

    we are planning to build a curved white studio, and have been thinking about which rgb panel to choose, we think we would need two or three Nova 300c but would it work with lile 6 60c do you think?

      We have 3 600c over the cyclorama pointing at the back wall. But we have many photo shoots - so we are happy for the extra bits in POWER :D And.. the app is amazing .. when we have a video set we are almost all on Aputure .. so we can direct the lights over the iPad eventually.

    This makes me mad with the p300C. Granted, the P300C is bright and it’s never not been bright enough, I feel like a lot of power is wasted because of how much the light spills on everything. It looks a a light the fifth of price and power draw, is only 2 stops dimmer. The P300C needs those lenses on the LED the P60C because the spread is already intense

    • @JAMImagery
      @JAMImagery  2 роки тому +1

      I think those are valid points! However, the build quality of the P300c makes it incredibly versatile and increases the life of the light. It also is a much softer source without any modifiers because of the size. I agree with you on the LED lenses because the P60c puts out some major brightness for the size and price. If you put a soft box or barn doors on the P300c, it is a great key light!

    • @nshea3286
      @nshea3286 2 роки тому +2

      It's panel light with a 120 degree beam angle. Great for lighting walls, softboxes(no internal baffle needed) and the like. If you want a hard light source go with a monolight led(Prolycht 300, Aputure 600d..etc) with a fresnel or projection lens. Horses for courses.

      @@nshea3286 Great points! It is also great for diffusing through larger sources with fewer hotspots, like a silk or a scrim.
