As a 90’s teen I cant totally stick up for all the gimmick covers, “extreme” ism and endless X and Image books. That said the indie scene in that decade hadn’t been matched since the 70’s and hasn’t since then.
Got into comics in 1990 so certainly a bit of nostalgia for me. Some great art. But yeah the really underground indie stuff is the only great thing about the 90s.
Mike. I am a subscriber and watch all your videos. When I was 20/21, I was a comic bookstore junkie. I worked @ Burger King in Eustis, FL. and the comic book store was across the street. I mention this because I am a huge Miami Dolphins fan, and those Dolphins things are really cool. Keep up the good work on your videos.
At 9:55, see if you can spot Ray Finkle in the team picture? Lol 😆. Very nice collections there, saw a couple of comics i have in my personal collection and some i used to have growing up in the early '90s. That pawn shop in Connecticut, is cool to have comics there unlike the pawn shops here in NYC where i was told they don't deal with comic books at all which is unfortunate. That golden age Batman Detective Comics stands out the most to me out of the bunch because of it's rich history and condition it's in, which says alot about how fortunate it is to be a comicbook collector. Not only to enjoy the hobby but to appreciate it especially when it's a raw comicbook to be read other than it being slabbed and encased, sure to preserve the book in it's entirely, but then again how else one comicbook collector can even enjoy to hold such a raw book like a golden age comic to actually experience it? Don't slab it but display it raw nicely away from sunlight to where it can be decently preserved in a way it can be appreciated. Cool review.
Those little mini comics were published by Gold Key/Western Publishing. They're listed in the Overstreet Price guide in the 'Promotional' Section under 'Dan Curtis Giveaways'. They're reprints, but they're pretty cool. Great haul, a lot of interesting stuff! As a Maple Leaf fan, I will try not to hold it against being a Bruin Fan. It appears the Leafs are going to lose to them AGAIN. Sigh.
That's awesome to see that many comic books in a pawn shop. I've never seen comic books at a pawn shop before and you came out with a whalers Jersey. Fantastic finds. Mike
I loved the update Mike. I've been a big fan of the Valiant universe. Thanks for giving them a little love. I thought the characters were great. You ended up with a great deal. I agree on purchasing a collection, there is a thrill and excitement of the possibilities. Similar to opening up a pack of cards too.
Great buys Brother. Love that box of chocolates! Thanks always for sharing Your passion and adventures from Toronto Ontario Canada 😎👍♥️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️📚📚📚📚📚✨️✨️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️✨️✨️💯💯
"open them up and flip through, and see that magic pop off the pages" Litterally 😅. Great haul as always and it was just what i needed when opening up a package of comic books.
Great pickup! Sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time. My favorite book ( like its any surprise with my avatar) is the detective comic you picked up. Look forward to the next video!
Amazing video!👍👏 I just began my comic book collection and found Toon Haven. They have an incredible range of digital comics for every genre, including the hard to find ones. Lifetime updates too!😁
wow on that price! Those are the types of deals that can get someone up and running flipping books on ebay or whatever. That jersey alone prob retails for $40 or $50! Great find! I'm sure it'll work out well for you!
Those 100 page DC books came out during Covid. They were available at places like Walmart. Once Covid settled down I was able to get a few from my LCS. Great fun books. Tons of titles!
What a fantastic deal!!!! Then the GA book to boot!!!! You should let Jerry the Jitterbug work on that. Those Marvel team ups looked great! I'm working on a run of those and the Marvel Two in One. Again, Fantastic find, so happy for you!!!!!
What a great comic book deal. It might be worth doing a little research on those early Valiant Comics, as certain key issues still command high prices.
I think the Playboy issues would definitely have some value given their excellent condition and that they are celebrating the magazine's 50th Anniversary. As a younger person I bought a few issues of Playboy but only so I could read the articles. The minicomics are part of a series of self-contained reprint giveaways. Dan Curtis Giveaway comics were published by Western around 1974, with nine 6" x 3" mini-comics printed and intended for use as bubble gum premiums. Walt Simonson's run remains one of the greatest Thor runs in the title's history. The 100-Page Giants were sold in Walmart stores I believe and really are great value, each one is about 80% reprint of recent stories but there's at least one new story in each issue. Camelot 3000 is excellent, and all stunning Brian Bolland art. For those of us who read it when it came out though, its irregular printing schedule meant that we had to wait months between issues of what was ostensibly a monthly title. Darker Image #1 has the first appearance of Sam Kieth's The Maxx.
Anti Hero pile. Love it. Great jersey. That signed book. Wondering if you could cut off the front cover and frame it. It might make a great gift for one of your friends or something to hang on your wall if you have room. Those small comics are cool. People love horror comics and these are super cool. I think from 60s or 70s. Definitely something to bring to a show and put out for $5 each. I think it would make people stop and look at your table or both. I love Dead On Dave. I have now subscribed to him. If I am ever out there I will stop at his store. He seems like a nice guy. Omg just got to the point in your video with the wedding couple. Take it as a wedding gift. I could see that coming. Kudos to you for that. DC war. They sell pretty good these days at the antique mall especially the Sgt Rock ones. Great video Mike. I love miss Tree. Private eye stuff. She kicks butt. Mike check out the Batman vs the FBI book. One of my favorites. And the golden age Batman. That will look good on your wall. Great video
I've never got into the X-Men other than a couple of comics here and there because it just seems overwhelming. I'd love to get a big pile so I could really do a deep dive into it.
Amazing deal!! Nice pick up! Also, as a life long Bruins fan, I love the old Whalers jerseys and am envious! that playboy issue... priced from 20.00 all the way up to over 4k!!!!
Great pick up Mike. Getting to fill in a lot of X-Men books. Some nice minor keys. Cool golden age Batman book. My favorite was the Static, awesome character. I loved the show and I have been trying to collect more people of color characters. That book was on my radar but the price spiked a little. I think it's come back down a little so maybe I'll look into it again. Smart not to haggle on price for a 1st transaction. This may be the start of a new plug. 👊🏼
Great buy. Above average random comics lot. If I was buying them, my concern would be that I usually read any issue I hadn't read before. I read Camelot 3000 years ago and loved it just for the Bolland art since he normally only does covers. What was I most interested in? the bronze age Flash issues because I am trying to upgrade my Flash run and on the hunt for. I purchased the Golden Age Wonder Woman h/c and found them a bit cringeworthy so I wouldn't be that excited about the Sensation Comics. How many times can she get tied up? As for the cards, they just bum me out. I purchased some that were mostly DC and had them stored away. When I checked on one of the slick-faced sets they had become a block of cardboard from moisture. I have not looked at the rest of them since then.
I bought a similar collection when I first got back into comics. It really is the nostalgia that sucks you in, isn't it? I told myself when I bought that collection I was going to sell some of the books to recover some of my loss. Long story short.... I've sold nothing lol. Great find!
Mike, you got to read that Camelot 3000! I had the Trade of that as a kid and just got the full run in single issues. Absolutely loved the story and art back then. I think the Arthurian theme is what drew me in. I'm sure you like it.

The bag and board supplies alone cost what you paid for the comics. Scary how cheap he sold them for which means he has almost zero buyers asking about them. Fun collection for someone that enjoys the actual comics.

Wow. I had that Mickey & Goofy EXXON comic. It was handed out at the Universe of Energy at Epcot Center, a pavilion in the eastern half of Future World. Camelot 3000 is a fantastic story. Why they are not popular is because the last 3 books took more than one year to appear. For a monthly it’s not good 😉
Those mini comics are so cool. I know the twilight zones are from 77 worth about 5 bucks a pop. Im going to assume the rest are around the same time period
There are so many great comics there! Camelot 3000 isn't just a whacky premise, it's actually a genuinely great read. Those Walt Simonson Thor comics are really good too. If I were you, I'd go through those Valiant books and pick out all of the pre-unity issues. The print runs on them were low so if there's ever nostalgia for Valiant (it could happen ha!) they're going to be worth something, and they're also great reads too!
Ok. Now I remember where I saw those “Dan Curtis Giveaway” books. They weren’t “giveaways” they were in vending machines when I was a kid living in Ohio. The Camelot 3000 story is excellent. Bolland art, I think. A huge majority of this collection appeared to be in great shape. Congrats!
I agree..loved that story & Bolland art
Camelot 3000 was the first maxi-series as well as first Baxter paper format comics from DC. Great story and amazing Bolland art.
Camelot 3000 was such a great story line. Too bad that the last 2 issues took FOREVER to be released, respectively 6 and 9 month delays !
great story and art!

How exciting! Let’s make some room for some more books! ❤
I believe the thin black Spider-Man reprint books were included with the models and statues.
