Yes, I remember catching this on MTV at the time, one of the best neo-glam rock acts of the entire decade (the main MTV video was a different one, in black and white - this is from TOTP isn't it? - but the absence of colour did nothing to dminish the power of the song).
no lie. we’d be in a club “back in the day” that’s jamming typical 80s dance music in the 80s and this would come on and everyone crammed the dance floor. The DJs probably spun it a little faster, but you wouldn’t think this would be a club song. Would you?
Knew of them obvs but never paid much attention until I heard this on BBC6 about 6 months ago, stunned me! Been going through their back catalogue since. Love em, so good

In 1985, The Cult unleashed a sonic storm with "Rain," a track that not only captures the essence of their sound but also marks an epic moment in the history of British rock. "Rain" is the second single from Love, an album that helped redefine the rock landscape of the '80s. The song is an anthem to the cathartic power of rain, with Ian Astbury's magnetic voice perfectly intertwined with Billy Duffy's hypnotic guitars, creating an atmosphere that is both ethereal and earthy. The pulsing rhythm and crystal-clear production transport the listener on a mystical journey, a sonic ritual that seems to invoke the natural elements. "Rain" is not just a song; it's an experience that echoes the mysticism and raw power that made The Cult one of the most iconic bands of that decade. Watching the "Rain" video feels like stepping into another dimension, where rock merges with the primal energy of nature. This track has a groove that can't be ignored, a magnetism that pulls the listener in from the first note, and continues to resonate in the playlists of anyone who appreciates rock in its purest, most authentic form. If you haven't yet, hit play on "Rain" and let yourself be swept away by The Cult's sonic storm. 🌧🎸 #TheCult #Rain #RockAnthem #80sRock #GothicRock
Been listening to this band since 1984 and I'm still loving it! They've always been one of my favorite bands and they stand the test of time. A sound that stays relevant forever!
Still the best "road trip" song ever! ! ! There's still nothing like hearing Ian and Billy at full blast (way over 10+) while you journey to your next stop of destination. This song - is the SHIT. period
Lil Devil - has a short and very quick guitar lick as it's basic hook. Over and over. Where as - Rain - has a long, slower and more sustained hook as its base sound. Do you get it now?
my god man! can you believe we were all young back in the 80,s now we are old. listening to these guys makes me want to party like i was young again, but it would kill me lol!

Billy Duffy's opening tunes are out of this world. Probably biggest factor in why this band is so great.
Exactly! Him and Suede's Bernard Butler are masters of intros, they automatically elevate songs to another, even higher level.
