It’s not underrated, just every band, singer,guitarist are in shadow of old big stars, like : Bowie, Freddy, plant, lennon ,jagger etc for singers, and for guitarist : hendrix, jj cale, page, jeff beck, mick ronson &, drummers: Keith Moon, Bonzo, danis davis etc , and when people spoke of greatest, no place for new/ newish artist. This is one of the most hard rocking bands in history kids...... the 80/s they were absolute magic on stage but the thing to remember is how raw and real they were and are .... Jamie never got the attention he deserved. Mist english bassist played a more pop or dance drum beat in other bands similar,but Jamie plays straight up blues back beat with the drummer. That gives Duffy's psychedelic spacious beautiful guitar sound such a rocking song. The blended perfectly. Love is one of my all time favorite albums but most anything by the Cult is always worth it. Stay safe
Ian is the best singer/tambourines. He beats the crap out of that thing and it actually adds value to the song. I’m 50 yo and learned how to play guitar from Sanctuary and the entire electric album 30+ years ago. Such a great band.✌️❤️🇨🇦

I discovered THE CULT in 10th grade and haven't stopped listening and never will. My 20 year old is a 80s fanatic and asked me to help her make a playlist and I told her you can't have the 80s without the CULT, now she's addicted and knows every word. So at least I know I'm parenting correctly. Most underrated band PERIOD!

I dig all The Cult records. But I played Electric every singe f'kin day of high school. To me, it is them at their absolute best. One of the best records ever made. And it was nice to hear some of that here...
I watched them do the 5 straight night at Hammersmith Odeon on the Electric Tour. I must dig out my photos one day. Brixton Academy was up close and personal always and the best place I saw them gig on the Love Tour with Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction / Gaye Bikers on Acid. They then built up to Wembley Arena and it got overblown and impersonal. The second night was a nightmare with Ian drunk on stage and he couldn’t be arsed to sing.
That would've been BADASS.. I was born in 89 so missed out on the crazy 80's but the early 00's held their own level of crazy good music and times. My dad made my mom's set tapes when she was a dancer when I was little and hold that album close to my heart still
The Cult was AMAZING in this. The crowd, on the other hand, really needed a shot of espresso. That or they should have stocked the crowd with actual Cult fans.
ProperVillain yes!!! And I’ve seen this before- in Indianapolis when they opened for Aerosmith and blew them away. The crowd was dead until the final 20 minutes of the cult’s set. Except me, and a couple hot chicks front row. Ian and billy MADE the arena get up and act alive through force of talent. I’ve still not seen another band ever, ever turn a dead audience on like that. It was spectacular.

Billy was in Theatre of Hate at that time, Jamie was playing rhythm guitar with Ritual, Nigel Preston was with Sex Gang Children. The rest of the line-up of SDC went on to form Getting the Fear with Bee on vocals, before Bee and Barry sheared off to found the excellent Into a Circle. Death Cult, on the other hand, was effectively the same band as The Cult. Ian, Billy and Jamie were all part of it, with Ray Mondo on drums. He then joined Sex Gang Children and Sex Gang's (and former Theatre of Hate) drummer Nigel Preston joined Death Cult. When the group performed their first gig under the truncated name The Cult at the Lyceum in London, the tickets still had "Death Cult" printed on them.
