    Yup. Anything I buy from eBay gets the, "Don't turn it on, take it apart!" treatment... and NOT because I'm doing a tear-down. Because I want to live. On the plus side, I've never found anything that wasn't easily corrected to make safe-ish. For me, that's a trade-off I'm willing to accept for the ridiculously low prices. I always shudder thinking that people without electrical skills are also buying the same stuff, though.

    Whoever designed the PCB meant for the high voltage to go along the top two traces. They would have the ground separating them from the low voltage bits below, they have larger pads on the right for the input, and seemingly has the solder-current cheat.

    I think you're wrong Sir. The top two yellow wires are the VAC for the heater coil and the red and black wires, I believe it's for the thermocouple. DId you measure them ?

    Hi just got one of exactly the same handles I agree the earth sheild is not very good. But the main heater element is on white and grey wires which has a bit more separation. The wires you pointed out as heater wires were the thermal couple. Just thought I mention it in case some one tries to connect it up. Nice videos by the way good quality audio and video.

      I think they soldered the unit FFcossag received wrong, which is why they ended up dumping the thing at a lowest listing on eBay..

    You can repair the blowers all you do is unsolder it from the board and pop it open then put how glue on the little circuit board inside the blower and then sit it back into the casing. What happens is that circuit board came unstuck from the casing which causes the fan to side fumble.

    Everyone who makes internet shopping must take it as a permanent decision that must have skills in electronics,mechanics,sewing,electricity because the buying stuff is never exactly as it has to be and most of the times needs some modifications in the case that is not a completely garbage and with a few luck maybe will turn to something useful.

    Hi I've the new version of this hot air gun and it doesn't heat up correctly. I already change the heating element for a new one but I noticed that ground wire of the heater head is broken (The one that is twirl around with a cable). Do I need to weld this part or is it a problem of the station itself?

  • @zx8401ztv

    Its odd that on the bad pcb, the top tracks are firther away from the rest, but they are not the 110v tracks, i would do some wire swapping so the 110 is on the seperate tracks :-).
    That wrapped earth is very naughty, but its in the right place to get repaired :-D

    • @cnerde
      @cnerde 7 років тому

      Yeah, it has the ground between it and the low voltage bits, much larger solder pads on the input on the right, and even what looks to be the "let's cheat and use solder to carry more current along the traces" bit, using the cheap stupid way where it's not continuous, no need on 220, but a better idea with half the voltage and therefore twice the amperage.
      I'm convinced that's where the high voltage was supposed to go in the board designers mind.

    Świetny film. Masz mojego suba. Mam pytanie: kupiłem stacje na alliexpres Eruntop 8586D+. Regulacja prędkości wiatru w hot air jest bardzo słaba. Czy zmieniając potencjometr w stacji na więcej lub mniej Ohm hot gun będzie mocniej dmuchał ?

    Got one of those off ebay for a soldering station project quite a while ago. Looks exactly like your new one, except the ground wire is not even twisted to a piece of welded metal, but tucked in between the metal pipe and plastic case. In mine the heater was white and grey wires, hence thicker traces on that PCB. By the way, how do you determine voltage rating of the heater? What impedance should it have? (I used to think they have the same heater for both 110V and 230V)
