    Don’t panic!
I have been on the pre diabetic level for decades! No matter how I eat. I did keto for a year and my level’s didn’t change. My grandmothers level was way into the high 400’s and she lived to 93!
You need to try to remove some stress if possible and enjoy life! Don’t deprive yourself of the joys you get from some foods, all of the time.
    Best wishes to you!

For real. Prediabetes leads to diabetes in the highest number 10% over 5 years. It’s usually less than that in other studies. Many EU countries don’t even consider it a thing. It’s American corporate greed.

Strict, totally hardcore, dairy-free carnivore. You know you feel better with that way of eating. Nothing tastes as good as feeling better feels. Dr. Ken Berry recommends starting with 90 days to truly start to make a difference and I swear you will never go back to sugar and carbs!! There IS joy with that way of eating because your better health is JOY!!! Stay strong y'all and do whatever it takes to get your health issues resolved... it is beyond worth it! Much love from my hardcore carnivore homestead ❤

@christinearmington I loooove dairy, especially cheese, but my Hashimoto's hates it with a passion. It was so hard to give up half and half in my coffee and good clean homemade ice cream, but it makes me sick and once I felt the difference, it bothers me that my body reacts to it like it does... I just can't intentionally make myself miserable. I sure miss it, but nope! 😆👍🏻

I have to be honest, there are two doctors always worth going to, the Rheumatologist and the Endocrinologist. They understand the two systems that affect everything, hormones and immune system. My Rheumatologist was the person who finally confirmed my Hashimotos after 20 years of having “low Thyroid.” You may find that they might have the answers to all of the issues you have been dealing with for years. PS So excited for Lilly! She looks fabulous on the on her steed!😢

So sorry for the health issues between Rebecca's Mom, Rebecca's thyroid issues and Justins health IT IS A LOT!!! Praying for you guys to get it all figured out. On another note, from a former horse mom....you're in trouble now LOL! My daughter started horse lessons about the age Lily is now, did fun little, small shows, and then her trainer put it into her head that she was really a good rider and needed to move up to more competion so we did 4-H ( which can be fun) but then we went on to AQHYA and traveled to shows. I'm sure you will get a handle on it before it gets out of hand. Once a girl gets horse fever it's hard to break but keep all things in prospective...which I'm sure you will. You are the highlight of my day now that we are empty nesters!

I empathize with Rebecca so much. I am also the one who is “responsible” for figuring it all out, researching and making it happen is soooooo mentally and emotionally exhausting. Her saying “I am just so tired of health issues” and not wanting to figure anything else out is so spot on. I feel like it’s all we do, battle one thing after another. You make a little headway then get hit with something else.
And like you, my diet is super clean. That leads me to believe it’s either environment related, or what we ate in childhood coming out and creating the issues.

Hi Rhodes family, My heart sunk for your dear wife. Let me say, years ago I was told that I was Pre-diabetic. I later learned that you either are or you aren’t. With that said controlling the types of sugar/ sweeteners you consume are key. I recently met with Ashley Rowland at the modern homesteading in Idaho. She is a wonderful wealth of health information. I was having joint lock ups, numbness and great pain. My dr said I had an autoimmune disease that could not be healed. The 1st thing Ashley said was, you can be healed!
I have been following a holistic approach to healing since then and what a difference it has made in just 4 months. Food for thought. I pray that you and your wife have peace in your hearts and minds.

I was pre-diabetic and insulin resistant. Went very strict keto (once I figured it out...took a couple of months at first) July '22 and by October I had lost 30 lbs, no pain on any joint, sleeping like a log and had been 80/20 Keto relaxed maintaining just fine. Testing one food item at a time if any symptom comes back by going strict for a week then adding one thing back to see the result. Stress is also a major factor with cortisol so retiring, getting a home ready to sell, selling, moving twice to get where we are now....not easy. So factor that in too. Hopefully the monitors will help speed up your process! Good Luck!

Like you were saying shouldn't have the issues with healthy eating but been eating clean for almost 11yrs now and still do (healthy eating helps but didn't take it away). Mine are autoimmune and other genetic conditions with gene mutations that explain what I've been battling my whole life and I'm a few months older than Justin. The journey is not without grief but I'm still able to find joy knowing the God never promised a life without struggles but promised to be with me through it all. Instead, the doctor tested him for this same autoimmune disease and it came back positive. Don't worry, you already know all you need to to support Justin through this. You know more than I do! It's frustrating and annoying and I have said the same things crying to my husband. I just want him well!! And somehow we'll get through it. Oh sweet Rebecca, I share your tears! I have had 2 back surgeries. The last one did nothing. I now have spinal stenosis, Osteoarthritis & Fibromyalgia. I just turned 67. I have been in pain so bad I cannot get out of bed. The days fly by. My house is so dirty. I care for my daughter with Epilepsy (42) & my 77 yr. mentally challenged brother. Trying to do a menu plan, call in meds, make appointments, pay bills, clean house, cook have become so difficult for me. Right now, my family Dr. is addressing my kidney number . She thinks in may be from a med. So I went 2 weeks with no B.P. meds & muscle relaxers. I am slowly starting back on some. I go back in a month for new bloodwork. Breathe deep. I hold you all in my prayers. Love & Blessings from Fla.

I have had to wait 5 months to get in with a Rheumatologist who says I have it. He put me on a prescription anti inflammatory and I am now going through a lot more testing waiting to see if they can get me on a biologic. I was totally against the meds but after having time to think about it I am thankful there are options. The meds will stop or slow the progression. It was a relief to finally have a name for a lifetime of issues. You can’t change your genetics but I am on the anti inflammatory diet the meds they want and we will reacess in the spring. I hope it’s nothing but make sure to do the testing they can’t reverse the damage already done by these diseases. Prayers

Rebecca I understand. My husband has had back issues since before 2005. We have dealt with back pain, blood clots, arthritis, headache and much more for over 20 years on a daily basis. We have tried so many medicines, natural supplements and other options and nothing has helped. For over 20 years I have had to watch my husband be in pain and try to deal with daily pain and there is nothing I can do to make him better. Prayers and more prayers for him to get some restful sleep, to have less pain to be able to function and for joy. So, I understand your tears and frustration and helplessness. All we can do is pray, encourage and stay strong for our husbands.

I'm only 38, but I used to have really bad chronic back pain. I went to a chiropractor, which helped, but I learned to live with it. Then, when my digestive issues got so bad that I became desperate, I finally decided to try a whole-food plant-based diet (cut the processed food, meat, and dairy). My digestive issues quickly went away, and though I wasn't expecting it, my back pain went away as well. It was a weird feeling waking up one day and realizing that I could tie my shoes again, I had no pain.
John McDougall was the first doctor (of many) that I came to respect. He puts forward a diet that is good enough for most people, without any need to go hungry. I hope you can improve your situation.

I feel for the kids having to witness not only their grandmother with ALS, but hearing the parents complain about how sick they are all of the time in front of them. Perhaps it’s best to keep some matters private for the sake of their children’s well-being and keep THEM from having anxiety. Just sayin’

    • @pocasanchez
      @pocasanchez 7 місяців тому +3

I don't think anyone should ever have to hide their illness for anyone, personally. Obviously parents shouldn't be venting to their kids but its completely OK for them to understand what's going on. I tell my kids everything so that they're not caught off guard, so they can understand how the body works, so they can understand Im trying my best but sometimes my best is being in bed, and most importantly, so they know how to handle these issues in case they ever have to themselves. It can also really bring family together and help everyone realize what's actually important in life. I just dont think hiding your illness or difficulties really benefits anyone. If I tried to hide my issues, my kids would probably just think I'm choosing to be a terrible mother AND they would have no idea whats going on in their own bodies(they have the same genes). They're just talking as 2 adults here, which is completely fine and normal and is very different from venting to your kids. Side note, you shouldn't be worried that these kids have to see their grandmother ill. Illness and aging are part of life and sheltering them from that isn't doing them any favors. This is real life! My kids have to watch their great grandma have kidney failure but instead of sheltering them or making it out to be some awful tragedy, we say things like "aren't you so glad that you get to have a great grandma?!" or "Isn't it amazing that she's lived 8 of your lifetimes?!" They also know her days are numbered and don't take her for granted. They know she's suffering so they make sure she's always comfortable and pamper her and I'm certain that both great grandma and the kids are grateful to have each other in their lives, no matter who is suffering or how much. As an aging person that's suffering, I would hate for my children and grandchildren to avoid me just to spare their feelings about the inevitable. It makes me sad that you're implying that it's best to keep kids away from people who are suffering when they actually both benefit from the relationship. Suffering people need love and support, and grandchildren are life's greatest blessing to them💓

@@lesa173 so what?! How is knowing your blood sugar a bad thing? Or even knowing that one can check their blood sugar, even if there isn't a problem. I have a blood sugar monitor, blood pressure monitor and oximeter. I use them to help me figure out what's going on in my body and my kids are not at all alarmed, they just find it interesting and like to check theirs occasionally just for fun. My kids have learned SO much about the human body through my illnesses and I'm so glad they not only have a great general understanding of anatomy, physiology and biology, but also of their specific genes and needs. They even know how to check pulses and administer an epi pen. They know that if I faint and my blood sugar is normal, then it's salt that I need. They know the signs of an allergic reaction, even an atypical one. They know about herbs and their effects. I feel very good about not only my safety and well being(with them knowing what to do) but should I die, they will be very well equipped to deal with whatever comes their way bc theyre prepared. I wish my mother had educated me more bc I didn't figure out what was wrong w me until I was 27 and had 2 sick kids, even though she has all the same conditions.

I had diabetes for almost 30+ years. I had my thyroid nuked about 30 years ago and have to be on thyroid meds forever. My BP was dangerously high for decades. I had out of control gout for 40 years and osteoarthritis. I have had vision issues off and on for years. And been overweight most of my life.
Three things that have made all the difference in the world: stopping sugar both natural and GMO. Becoming a carnivore (thank you Justin for introducing this lifestyle to me. I've lost 70lbs so far . AND taking the infusion therapy called Pegloticase - Krystexxa. Although this med is currently only used for gout therapy and is extremely expensive (insurance helps a lot) I pray someday it will used for arthritis (cause it helped mine).
YES, it is very overwhelming to deal with diabetes. YES, it does seem very restrictive. BUT having diabetes is far more restrictive than going without sugar. Sugar is killing us.
I've been watching you guys since almost beginning and I love you all. You're now part of my daily world. Hard truth time - you all eat far too much sugar. Your diets is generally GREAT otherwise. But sorry the sugar part has to be addressed for EVERYONE not just Justin. Especially if this is a hereditary issue. Even the fruit intake. It will be hard on everyone in the beginning but once you start feeling the benefits of reducing or eliminating sugar you will see and feel the benefits. Using only pure natural cane sugar is extremely important. Note: there is sugar in milk 😢 sorry. Here is a more in depth article.
    kaynutrition.com/what-is-the-healthiest-sugar/
Again, I know you don't want to have to deal with more health issues, Lord knows you've dealt with so many. Unfortunately if you don't address these issues head on it will only get worse as time goes on.

Dear precious Rebecca, how my heart is breaking for you! I hear/see/feel your deep frustration! You work SO hard at all of the things that affect your family's health. So many days I feel like that is all that I do for us, and grow so weary of it, and the constant studying to understand what is really going on in our bodies. And all of the conflicting information out there just makes it all that much more frustrating!
One thing that I've learned in all of this is a possible connection between the inflammation and the rising blood sugar.
Any stress that causes us to go into fight-or-flight mode, including pain/inflammation, raises cortisol levels, to mobilize stored glucose, to provide the needed energy to fight or flee. Since we're not fighting or fleeing, this blood sugar remains high. I don't know what the answer for that is, but it's one possibility to explore...when you have the bandwidth again! Praying for you, for peace, and for the knowledge that is right for you all, and the wisdom to know what to do with it.

I think this proves that the carnivore diet is not the answer to reduce inflammation. Meat does not contain antioxidants. Also, I notice many people who have restricted carbs eventually become diabetic. I think it is most important to find balance with dietary choices and not be too restrictive. Once a person adopts a restrictive diet, they drastically change the way their body metabolizes the restricted food. Once you quit using it, you lose it. Prayers for you and your continued journey to health.
