Well done. I will say that you need to add a wood block when compressing the pistons as the phenolic tends to crack under very little pressure. I’ve inadvertently done this myself.
Always take the cap off of the brake reservoir when you c clamp the pistons, that's why it was hard on you, it builds back pressure; and don't ever try to gravity bleed brake lines, it doesn't work.
It wouldn’t have made a difference in this case, he had the bleeder screw completely removed from the caliper so there wouldn’t any back pressure from a closed system. And if you start with gravy bleeding, it will definitely save some time and work. He even said that he would have to probably bleed the system after he reinstalled the bleeder screw. Might want to get your hearing checked, it seems you missed a lot.
@12plowman just a question. If you press on the pedal howcome no more fluid will com Doesn't pressing the pedal make the fluid flow to push the pistons? Might have to do this myself and appreciate all the advice.
@@fishydubsfishing6516 oh ok, I wish lol that would have been fun. I saw the V6 powerhead jit for $900 on ebay just have to pull the head off to get the correct size pistons to purchase but I think it's .030. just need to make sure so I don't need to pay a machine shop to make larger lol
I have to replace my front calipers, but i read online people end up bringing their rams in to a shop to bleed, because you can't bleed the abs lines at home... did you notice a softer pedal?
i did i thought there might be a little air still dut i have no problem and i tow a 24 ft boat but if thats the case i would go to a garage and have it done thank you and i will note that
Your idea of pushing air through the bleeder to blow the boot would only work if your piston seal is not working properly and if the seal isn't working, then the rest is useless to continue doing. Also dangerous as it might introduce a lot of air in your brake lines since your brake line is still attached. Easier to just take the banjo bolt out, do everything on a bench and all you will need is a new copper washer for the banjo bolt or if you are in a pinch, sand both sides of the washer a bit(make sure it's done of a flat hard surface) and anneal it (heat up with a torch and let it air cool down ) to soften it up and seal properly.
Ok fishy. Have you bought your radar yet for your boat?? I just bought the garmin 24xhd radar for my key west. But here is the deal any thoughts on how you would mount it?? Also the best way to run the cables from the t-top to inside the console. Two heads are better than one so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you fishy god bless
your ahead of me,i want to raise it 6 to 10 inch - optional- or mount an adapter plate , i will go threw the top cuz its hollow, with ss bolts, and acorn nuts, you want it towards the bow, back from the frount edge alittle- look for some vids that have it installed so you can see the look - then i will drill a hole in the electronics box towards the radar ,make sure you drill between the top and bottom of the hard top ,not out the frount of the box, there might be a hole there allready this will let me see if i can get the wires threw there, or you can run the wires on the hard top then dropdown in the box then go threw the hard top pipe to the console, use water tight connectors, and silicone, if you put an electric compass, you have to be 2 ft away from the radar, good luck and thanks for reminding me ill get back in to getting mine
fishy dubs fishing oh hell yea!!! Merry Christmas fishy what kind did you get the lowrance 3g or 4g my electronics are all garmin so I got a garmin 24 XHD. WOW so happy for you dude
@@robertray4428 yes i am getting the lowrance h 24, cuz i have all lowrance,on the boat i got an 8 inch tower to lift it,it can be dangerous to be at head level of the unit, i should have the vid out in 2 weeks i hope
after that I did the other side,i took the caliper out, over the years brakes stop working, and it turned out to be a bad rubber line, I just think crimping it will cause a failure over time, thanks for watching
@@fishydubsfishing6516 That is right, as that is what happened to me, the fluid not only eats the damaged inner liner of the hose, but it sends sediment down into the caliper, and pistons.
So I come here to learn tricks and you edited them out so no the hardest part I did not get to see thank you very much for the video
the only trick was gravity bleeding thanks for watching

yea i never worked with phenolic before and the pistons were so tight bam ill use the wood on the rear brakes thanks

Dang, you got a bargain on that kit! Nice tutorial on the brake rebuild Gary!
yea a new caliper is 80.00 and i spent 18.00, but its a lot of work
@@fishydubsfishing6516 It sure looked like it. It's kinda nice being able to do it yourself though. Definitely a sense of pride in that!

very good thanks for watching
You could also hold the pedal applied and no break fluid will drip out from the reservoir
thanks but i was alone
Good idea didn't think about that. I stuck a stick between the brake pedal and seat. Then scooted the seat forward to hold it. Thanks man

@ryanv7195 because your sealing the circuit. You've shifted the master cylinder pin closing off fluid passage from reservoir
dodge ram ,2 piston caliper rebuild
nice car brother

Awesome rebuild brother, we buy 90% of our vehicle and few boat parts from RockAuto at cheapest prices lol and all original parts too.
thats where i went rock auto, yea i wish i was there to do your rebuild on the outboard,i love working on motors

hello new friend, very good truck, i have very much car, visit my house to see them
i will thanks
How many miles are on your truck? I’m curious if there’s a certain mileage interval I should keep a eye out for, so I know when to replace them.
I have only 40 thousand but it was 7 years old the pads should have been done earlier thanks for watching
Awesome video very helpful
thanks my man
Great video!! Thank you
thankyou
do you remember where you bought the seals or what they are called? im having a hard time finding them, gonna rebuild front and rear calipers.
rock auto .com thay did not have a complete kit so i got the seals separate from the pistons go on there web site
