Episode 1: I’m Perez in communications and I can’t aim very well
Episode 5: I’m a spartan now
Perez's family dies "there's no training for this!!!"
2 weeks later : leads a team with tactics and watches them die in front of her but doesn't care that much.
The Spartan 3, they're not real people
That happened!? Fuck, i give up after the dumb and cheap first episode.
Sums it up perfectly. Cutting to Perez as a Spartan trainee shows the lack of logic in this show. Hell, it would fail if this was the Spartan-IVs! Even the IVs were pulled from the best of humanity. The beauty of the IIIs is they were war orphans given a shot at revenge against the covenant. Even if they were smaller and weaker than the IIs, they still spent their childhoods undergoing training and augmentation, being generally better than even the ODSTs, all to throw away their lives just to buy humanity time.
Season 3 we are all master cheeks 😂
Perez training for Spartan 3 is hilarious , she's a 5ft communication specialists. These writers shouldn't even write for Sesame Street.
She couldn't shoot, froze up in combat, outright lied about seeing a major event out of concern for 'they might not believe me'... cause that makes sense. Yeah thats top-tier special operations material there.
Cookie Monster would definitely kick arse in a Mjolnir suit.
The 3's are on average 7 foot tall. Also they say they stayed their height after augmentation. This isn't a custom fit suit they are wearing. It's a GI suit in comparison to Mjolnir. She wouldn't fit, she's not close to average height.
@@cappinjocj9316A normal humans can't use Mjolnir armour. it would allow movements that would rip your muscles and snap your bones. Master Chief is able to run 100 km per hour for a short amount of time but it will cost him dearly. If the suit can push him That hard it would utterly shatter an unaugmented normal human's body like a twig.

We have gone six episodes in season 2 and we have not seen ONE grunt and 15 total episodes with NO Hunter battle!
The grunts should have been the comedic relief. Should have simply been a war film show. Every show humanity loses more, gets pushed back, has to make sacrifices to buy time etc. The might of the Covenant is unstoppable. Only the Spartans can beat them with ease. But it's never enough. Follow the characters faithfully and follow the Covenant politics of the Great Journey. I mean, IT WAS ALL THERE. It could have been sooooo good. A 10-20 hour "movie" like Reach. And that story hits hard, but it would hit soooo much harder if it had the proper time to set the characters up and build tension, set the scene. It's so sad
We've been thru over half the show without even sniffing spartan armor... What more is there to say

There's only two types of video game live action adaptations.
1. Adaptations that do their own things while still respecting the source material.
2. Adaptations that do their own thing because they have no respect for the source material.
I dunno, The Last of Us stuck very close to the source material and that one got a claim from both fans and normies. There's a path to do things the right way, but it seems like these fuckers are determined to burn the franchise down.
@@RyneLanders well last of us was basically a tv show in video game skin, full of dialogue and drama in the way a tv show would be, so the amount needed to be adapted was very little, then you look at Castlevania and they had very little to go off of so they have to do their own thing while still keeping characters and big plot points in tact. Last of Us is barely a game adaptation, because the game had very little game and was mostly story anyway, so its a bit of an outlier.
I agree. It's why I like Sonic the Hedgehog a lot. It was a adaptation while respecting the source material. This show..... does not respect the material at all.

Everything Pablo Schreiber told Kai about Makee being alive and the covenant being on reach was admitted to be true by Ackerson when he spoke to Kai, so wouldn’t that mean everything Pablo told her was true and yet she continued to go and beat him up…Wtf writing is this.

Yeah... They didn't do SIII justice. In the books these guys are freaking badasses. But even in the lore it makes me sad. The UNSC invests and train them for years just to go on suicide mission. Most of them didn't even have a second mission. The SIII were used one time.
I dont know the story of the games, but just from a show perspecive, how is this supposed to make sense? Surely no more than a few weeks have passed since Reach and somehow Perez is in the Spartan 3 program? How? She has at best trained for a month, thats nothing.. Arent these people supposed to be elite super soldiers?

I wouldn’t put it past them to completely change the reason why the rings exist to begin with. I’ll be surprised if they stick to it, but I’ll be even more surprised if this show even gets a third season.

oh 100% it won't, it'll be it's own thing cause Flood = expensive CGI and they only have that for a few action scenes to get Joe happy and keep watching. They already killed off not-Keyes and are doing covenant civil war stuff, so it's clear things'll change especially with the whole stupid destiny/chosen humans stuff (and characters like Kwan and that Covenant girl) going on.

The conversation between Chief and Kai was so insanely dumb. He literally tells her the truth, after thinking he was dead. She then just mindlessly talks about the covenant girl without asking any other questions and ignoring that her fellow spartan was killed. Then to just proceed to beat the shit out of him and then to leave him after knocking him out to then say to ackerson that she believes Chief. THEN WHY THE FUCK DID SHE BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF HIM. The writers are just mind numbingly stupid its actually unreal.

Dumest scene: Kwan jumping from a deadly height, blidly into a well and being saved by a light then coincidently meeting Halsey
Dumest line: "Tea, like empires, centuries of work can be undone by the smallest of oversights"
Not particularly looking forward to this episode, but here goes.
^ Good - Opening was interesting, space, Spartans, mission, VR Reveal
^ Good - I am interested in what Kai is doing training Spartans
- Bad - Parangosky - I do not buy her as a high ranking military official, I find her acting as if she is remembering lines
- Bad - The stupid monologue about tea.
- ok - Ackerman and Kai scene
- Bad - Soren's wife, bad acting
- Bad - Forced fight scene. What's going on here? why does this military group of 10 men open fire when they see a girl (Kwan?) why is Chief choosing to take on 10 soldiers, unarmed? I see now, because the script wants Chief to be captured so they had to engineer a stupid scenario.
- Bad - of course super Kwan evades all the soldiers
- Bad - Now they are split the writers can split this episode into a ton of terrible side quests
- Bad - Don't care about Kwan's supernatural spiritual bs
- Bad - Not even Kwan is stupid enough to jump into a well, you cant see the bottom and have no reason to think there is any other way out.
- Bad - Kwan saved from a 40meter fall by light? why is there light at the bottom of a well?
- Bad - Halsey coincidently happens to be at the bottom of the well at the exact moment Kwan arrives there.
- Bad - Pretty much no reaction from Halsey or Kwan to antigravity light that saved Kwan's live
- Bad - of course the soldiers completely give up on following Kwan because she went into a well, and there is no way they can follow her
^ Good - Scene with Makee, the covenant priest wanting to kill her
- Bad - I feel like they have A, B, C, D, and E plots in this episode and they keep switching every 2 minutes
- Good - Kai students, teacher storyline is ok
^ Good - Finally back to Chief, he has been captured!
^ Good - Good fight scene with chief but also dumb that not a single one of eight armed soldiers managed to shoot Chief
- Bad - A PLANET was just invaded and destroyed by the covenant but Parangosky and Ackerman seem more concerned with cheif?
^ Good - Ackerman trying to corrupt Kai against Chief
^ Good - Makee and Cortana, not a huge fan of Makee but at least we are talking about Halo
- Bad - Huge scene where chief exits a room, looks at a sign, then an elevator, which takes 40 seconds, then back to a different storyline
- Bad - Kwan and Halsey wondering around underground, Halsey notices the layout has changed, scene lasts 50 seconds then back to...
- Bad - Chief needs a scene with Kai and who should appear so of course its Kai who finds chief
^ Good - Chief vs Kai is sorta good, I don't like how they got here, I don't really buy Kai would trust Ackerman over Chief, but I like the way Chief tried to win her back and the use of the security cameras.
- Ackerman, parangosky, I just don't believe these high ranking military officials wouldn't be absolutely focused on an alien race wiping out humanity but instead they are absolutely focused on the actions of one spartan
- Good - Finally! actually some kind of military command room for, you know the threat of human exstinction from an more powerful alien race!
- Bad - this stupid line "Data wave outside our spectrum, high volume, tracking point of origin, our communications may be compromised"
- Bad - What motive has Parangosky got to make everyone leave the war room? and presumably no one there was doing anything important in this WAR if she can just tell them to leave
- Bad - How did parangosky know it was Cortana, why does she want to keep it a secret
- good - to see master chief and Cortana back together and she is distracting Parangosky etc.
- Bad - so wait? after refusing the let master chief leave, and beating da frek out of him, Kai leave master chief alone
- Bad - cortana is concerned about being remembered? huh?
- Bad - Halsey meets woman from season 1
- bad - back to Soren storyline for 40 seconds
^ Good - Kai vs Ackerman she finally shows she really believes chief
- Good - Chief and Cortana get to the artifact
- Bad - the code for the door securing the most valuable artifact know to man was 11111
- Good - Priest doesn't trust Makee , arbiter sides with Makee, makee and Chief approach the artifacts together...
- Bad - when it finally gets to the most interesting part of the episode... black screen this annoys me more than it makes me look forward to the next episode
Kai, her students and trust issues and finally siding with Chief was obvious as hell but one of the better storylines
Cheif getting awkwardly captured, escaping, reuniting with Cortana briefly and getting to the artifact ok i guess
Covenant and Makee scenes were ok
Rest was junk
4/10 for me, below average, what really happened this episode? Kai trusts chief again maybe, chief got captured, escaped and touched an artifact, Makee stayed alive.

Why are ONI so concerned with Cheif anyway... His only concern is human assets.
Having his first moral battle with command decisions after his pellet is gone is place for some real conflict:
All they had to do was flag him as an extreme security risk [One of the Best Spartan 2s unpredictable and unstable is more than enough motive], Kai could have easily been convinced of the risk and apprehended him...
All they need to do is sit Chief and silver team down in a room with top brass and explain the very reasonable reasons [In the current shows logic] for them making a tactical retreat from reach and then if they are truly Spartans and Soldiers they'd suck it up with gritted teeth...
But no they want to kill him and loose all faith of spartan 2s in the process.
The shady business with evil admiral woman and cortana doesn't make much sense either... Why is this obvious spy operation such a secret when it seems pretty cut and dry.
Halsey may be untrustworthy but still an extremely valuable asset, So why was she left for dead and not taken to Onyx...

On a personal note i was not a fan of the Sangheli preist, The halo species are designed to stand out in their roles for a reason... Their civilian sub groups are left in the lore to be sprinkled as small notes of world building...
Prophets are the religious leaders and standout as such | Elites are ELITE warriors - The Upper ranks of military [Later heavily sharing traits of Greek Spartans] | Brutes - The enforcers also capable of lower ranking command | Jackles - The more strategic and cunning lower ranks Associated with Shields and Marksmanship | Grunts - "The Grunts" of the covenant, serving as the primary fodder but yet shown to not be underestimated as they are still large 5ft creatures with biological exoskeletons that can pick fights with marines along with their dangerous fanatical behaviour in battle.
The show is taking these perfectly designed ranks of covenant and completely muddying the waters...
Elites are now roaring dinosaurs that behave as a mix between grunt fodder and Brute [No one watching the show thinks of them as honourable and formidable Team-leaders/commanders... They are merely the fodder of the covenant that can occasionally be skilled and even then the well defined color rankings are abandoned too]
Jackels have no character, they are simply there with sheilds and small swords... None of them are visually ranked, exhibit any characteristics like formation or cowardly retreats...
Brutes are just roaring hammer brutes so far... Not much to say with very little screen time...
They had a gold standard faction already meticulously designed to be easily digestable and recognisable that were a very real intelligent threat to humanity and somehow they have completely screwed the pooch

I just can’t grasp how insulting the concept is. Imagine you dedicate years of your life writing fantastic work, and people grow to love the world you created. The only reason these shows get made is because of the loyal fan bases and they spit in the face of the reason they are here. Something I struggle to understand is how they want us to believe that Chief is the best of all Spartans, yet in every fight he's had against another spartan in this show, he's gotten his ass folded. I get that in each instance he was without armor, but the precedent it sets kinda kills his hype. Or... What little hype he had, haha 😅

They still would have had halo 2 and 3's story for season 3 and 4 and then 4 and 5 and still have room for more. Stull haven't seen the flood or guilty spark

This episode made it clear we're not going back to Reach. The Fall of Reach was an emotional event you could spread out over a whole season or more if you wrote it well, but instead they did it in one episode. I'm done.

In season 3, they're going to use the game to make episodes like Red VS Blue..
BEST RESULT: Soren's Wife and Kid dies, he suffers great grief, his character changes as he becomes dark inside, filled with vengeful thoughts.
He commits to forming himself into a weapon that will rain hell fire on those responsible.
Halsey sees this change in him and believes she can harness that rage into an effective lethal vector. She gives him a chance and he chooses to go through the augmentation again, and becomes a full blown Spartan. With a bionic arm to boot.
But there is a twist, after augemtarion, he is presented with the opportunity to willingly implant the pellet into his skull, and he wants it, because the pain of losing his family is just to great, he just wants to go numb. His character is no longer a jokester, he is stark, brooding, his soul dead, now he has just one purpose, to be lethal.
Kai sees through all the lies of ONI and delivers the Armor back to Chief and Soren. And the core team becomes Chief, Kai, Soren and one other to be added maybe next season?
Quan-Ha becomes one with the planet, and evaporates into a mist never to be seen again.
I just dont get how people fail adaptations. Obviously there's a large amount of obstacles to even set up an adaptations live action version. But argubely the hardest part (the story itself) is done. How can you fail with millions at your disposal.

I am failing to see how Kwon Ha fits into the more important narrative of the rings and the covenant etc.
I thought when she fell through the well and landed like that, it was gonna imply that she has some kind of forerunner ability that just unlocked.
Soren's son needed to be older, too, because they could have taken his character in a direction where he is now a Spartan III and there is definitely intrigue and drama there.
These two plot lines are the least interesting to me because they are very slow to build and appear to not really be going anywhere right now.

This is not my Halo.
It baffles me how badly they screw up every plot point they borrow and bastardize. To quote Regret, “Of all the objects our lords left behind, there are none so worthless as these [screenwriters]! They know nothing of the Great Journey!”
Imho Halo doesn't have enough material to be a show. The games are basically about a super soldier killing aliens that want to destroy humanity. Halo is built for a series of high budget action films, that's it. Not all this political espionage bs.
The format is not the problem, it's the people writing it, they are out of their league. The Expanse was a good balance of political intrigue and action with a lot of memorable lines and characters. You don't need constant action when you have compelling, well written characters.
But you are objectively wrong. The lore in the Halo series in very rich, and the story goes far beyond "super soldier killing aliens that want to destroy humanity". Even in "just" the games, there is so much lore, story, character development, plot-lines and mysteries to fill 5 different TV shows, if they wanted to. And if they start drawing from the canon Halo novels and extended universe, there is almost endless inspiration.
They could have made a series about the young Spartan 2's lives and training. Everything is already there in "The Fall of Reach"!
They could have made a mini series about Sergeant Johnson during "First Contact".
The show could have been about the Forerunners, the Ancient humans - or about Oni discovering Forerunner artifacts. It could have been about the civil wars in the outer colonies, with a reports of a looming mysterious danger to insurrectionists and UNSC alike.
They could have made a show about Blue Team going on missions taking out separatists/terrorists, which was the Spartan's initial goal before the Covenant was discovered.
You have a point that anything live action Halo should probably have a high budget, if they want to do anything with the Covenant. But this show does have a high budget - but it's trying its damnest to become something it shouldn't be.
This show wanted to write its own stupid generic sci-fi crap, just to slap the Halo name on top of it for free traction. It's ridiculous, it doesn't fit at all, and all it serves to do is hurt the Halo name. They didn't want Halo. They don't like or care about Halo. They just wanted the Halo name and visuals. That is the problem.
@hylianchriss I agree that this show just wanted to use the Halo brand and actually did nothing with it. But I still stand by what I said that the games are about a big green robot man shooting aliens. The books may go deeper but the games have always had a simple story and as such would be better adapted as big dumb action movies.
There's like 10 hours of story just from the games alone. Theres also entire book series
