I’m getting flashbacks to The Witcher series, which eventually devolved into 2% Geralt, 98% side characters yapping.
Even season 1 was a majority of yennifer.
This is a very common thing in streaming shows. I have no clue if it’s a budget issue or just incompetency of the writers. They refuse to stay on the most interesting characters in the show

Season 1 was worse for this, I wouldn’t mind showing more of other characters if it was showing us more of the UNSC leadership or Covenant but there’s this random girl with supernatural abilities from a fucking sand planet and space pirates getting screen time

Why they wanted to go so deep into John is beyond me…… I guarantee they got told he never takes the helmet off in the games they didn’t bother playing and they did this cause that sounded stupid to them. I swear that’s why we get this deep introspective into the man inside the suit.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed 😂 When Halsey started naming constellations in random parts of the galaxy, i definitely noticed. Constellations are only going to be recognizable from a planet. Not to mention Kwan somehow knew where all these star groups are based on a vision of a 2d cave drawing? WTF. That doesn't even make sense.

Then again...the Fall of Reach had halo's coordinates be on a rock that fell onto a random planet. Yes Reach the game kind of fixed it but the original way of finding halo was also kind of weird.

The show runners are self consuming, self indulging. As this trio puts it - they like to smell their own farts. This production is their bastardization of the Halo lore directed by what THEY want. Having nothing to do with the novels, games, or other mixed media.
What weighs heaviest for passionate Halo fans such as me is that so much of the casuals that define Halo now use this as the benchmark for story. AND IT FUCKING SUCKS.
It’s a masterpiece. Get used to watching it. It’s the show your children will be talking about.

Only way they turn this around is if Master Chief goes into stasis and wakes up on the Pillar of Autumn and never takes off his mask again, Johnson (not even some random tech) teaches him how to look around and jump, the Keyes death scene was just a daydream, and Foe Hammer comes on the radio before the Covenant try to take over this ship. If all of that doesn't happen, this isn't turning around.

I recently went back and played the campaigns from Halo 1 - Halo 3 ODST and it’s crazy how good the story was in those games compared to the later games and especially compared to this TV series.

Take Perez there is no way someone that shit in combat would be selected for the Spartan III program and the Spartan III's have no tactical sense at all. It's a crime to care these days cause they keep kicking Halo fans while they are down, We don't want a exact re-telling but at least respect the universe and it's Characters. " we don't want an exact retelling" fans have wanted that since the conception of Halo. A live action visualization of the games story which the games could not do compared to a cinematic show or movie.
I don't know exactly where or when adaptations meant change the entire storyline (even if they did show even a degree of respect to the lore/games) but it's gotta stop. I'd assume around the mid 2010s adaptations meant very loosely to not existently use source material.

You have to introduce the characters and if you do, you have to continue their stories unless they are around the main character.

Makee finding the Halo via surrounding stars made no sense because when she and John met there, it was broad daylight with no stars in sight.
Also the ring is actively orbiting a gas giant, so the position of those stars would be constantly changing.
I just thought about how they literally got 7 female main characters and then there is the master queef, ah yes the Arbiter is also a simp. The writing is so fucking horrible, nothing makes sense, people change their stances in mere seconds and the next scene everything is forgotten. Nothing makes sense.

The marines and spartans are an absolute emotional joke. I used to love hearing the soldiers when I was playing through the games with all of their dialogue and funny moments. If they acted like the soldiers from the TV show while I was driving them around I would probably kill them myself lol.

Episode 8 starts off with them telling John /Jimmy cheeks(aka Gomer Pyle USMC) that his armour was shipped to the wrong person by fedex, next scene john is fighting the covenant again without the armour, all of a sudden jimmy hears a loud commotion from behind and the guy who received his armour is killing the covenant left and right just like in the games.
The real MasterChief runs by jimmy cheeks super fast and smashes a creme pie right in his face all the while kicking covenant AS$ and hollering (LEEROY JENKINS) The End. 😂🤣😂🤣😂😛😛😜🤩🤩🤩
My favorite part is when John looks at the camera and says "It's Chiefing Time"
The crazy thing is the guys on r/halo love it. They downvote you into oblivion if you say anything bad about the TV show. Especially about season 2, which some of them think is the second coming of Jesus Christ.
I'm also trying to understand what they loved about this episode lol. I get that shows can be great without constant action but usually those shows have characters and other plotlines that are actually interesting.

It was really weird that after seeing the old "Librarian" stand-in lady repeatedly, she vanishes when they're in the actual library
My favorite moment was when Miranda explains to Halsey that she missed that the second panel is about language and not "just math". While linguists use math all the time to decipher languages and any person with the knowledge of Halsey would immediately know that reapeating symbols that have a clear structure must be a language and when Kwan explains basic celestial dynamics to two of the most inteligent people in the universe.

Halo forward onto Dawn was the best Halo we got. Even at the end we got to see Blue Team who was badass and they was all between 14-16 years of age plus the 15yr old Chief kept his Helmet on when Spartan Kelly & Spartan Fred took theirs off. Real Spartan 2s
They also demonstrated what competent leadership looks like in a nightmare situation.
And while even chief removes his helmet his face isn't shown
I thought about the series and I realized that Cortana being captured by the Covenant in the series is a massive mistake on the show creators' part. In the games, Cortana was the Pillar of Autumn's shipboard AI that was given to Master Chief to protect, so that she doesn't fall in the hands of the Covenant, because if she were to be captured, the Covenant would find the location of Earth and then go glass it. This series is so far removed from the games, it's not even funny.
The collectors edition of Halo Reach on the 360 came with Dr Halseys journal which covers the creation of the Spartans. That journal is better written and presented than a multimillion dollar show about Halo from Paramount. I would rather watch the Microsoft Reach commercials on loop for an hour than watch this show.

I was done after Season 1. I started off like you Joe, optimistic, willing to accept it was gonna be different and i was even okay with Chief taking his mask off after some time. But the writing, the freaking writing man. It's Ring of Power bad. So i couldn't get myself to watch this season. So i come here to watch the season this way because i know it will be more entertaining than watching the actual thing

The Rings of Power were a literal masterpiece compared to this. Honestly this isn't even worthy of the CW. I feel like almost nothing decent has happened in almost 16 hours of runtime.
That's actually a perfect comparison. Both shows are dog shit and neither respects the source material. Kwan "There is a Tempest in Me" Ha is of the most unlikeable characters I've ever seen on a show

Why does everyone think so highly of Chief? What have we seen him do that was epic and heroic? What does he do that any of the other Spartans couldn’t do themselves? We’ve barely seen him do anything and even less in his armor. They gave him the same treatment to him that was given to Superman in justice league, having everyone love and admire him all of a sudden after nobody trusted him from his last movie.
Because of his implied past deeds of course 😂 Even though the show hasn't even done a good job of THAT. We really don't even have any reason to respect Spartans. They keep saying they're better, but we haven't seen it. They've made more of a big deal of their childhood trauma than their skills. Honestly the whole Spartan program was only alluded to in the games. We don't need any of these plotlines that have to do with developing Spartans at all. Nobody cares. They've really just changed the entire focus of what Halo is supposed to be. It makes me wonder how many women are in the writing room. Honestly I don't see men writing these storylines...

Besides Star Wars, Halo was one of my first lore attention grabbing stories. Something I still hold deep within me, that Halo is awesome in everyway. But the entire IP has been dragged through the poo-mud with every adaptation of it becoming a Movie or even a short story(real-life or animation), and IT'S SAD.. Just the platonic love story between Chief and Cortana, had me in tears of how beautiful it was.. "Don't make a girl a promise you can't keep".. still hits like a ton of bricks..
But imagining that that wasn't even in existence, just the fear and dread of the last bit of humanity fighting for it's survival against a over-powering force, is within itself to just be a great Main Storyline, and could easily make 20 seasons of profitable mess for any studio. THEN, even different from that, the story of the Flood and how all life in every universe can be destroyed by this infectious plague(who can even infect AI/programs)?? Is something that makes every Zombie story complete trash in any scope of detail..
Not to mention that the Humans and Covenant eventually put their differences aside to fight the greater enemy(Flood).. I mean wtf?? Deep deep lore, thousands of plot twists, and just good ole' eye-watering story to be had, even on a tight budget..

The guy who is suppose to be playing Master Chief won't even wear the armor now, it was the helmet in season 1, now he won't even wear the fucking armor because he's more worried about being able to show some range of emotions and his body, to help him get his next role, then he is about portraying Master Chief from the games. This show is Fear The Walking Dead levels of bad
the writers really thought it was a good idea to remove iconic characters that bring some life into the halo franchise like sgt johnson with weird shitty characters like Makee and Kwan & kessler/soren’s wife that’s so badly shoved in.
Funny to think that Halo's lore has been ruined twice.
Once when 343 retconned Forerunners to be a different species to Humans, going directly against the reveal in Halo 3 "You ARE Forerunner, but this ring is MINE" Same species, confirmed multiple times.
And now again with the "Silver Timeline" which is Halo in motif only.
Yes, unfortunately many idiots will still try to claim that 343i never retconned the Forerunners. 343i completely destroyed all mystery surrounding Ancient Humanity/Forerunners and the Flood.

i have that same halo (off-brand) toy AR. years ago, when it was beeing sold, my dad bought it and painted it to resemble the actial AR for me when i was sick. we played halo 1 together and he was suprised when he ran into it in a toy section.
They tease the flood, I mean even had the symbol for the flood in the episode but I bet we don’t really get the flood

With what seemed like the corpse of a life worker, surrounded by a bunch of sample vials, that Halsey insists on referring to as a 'Library'... that freaks out and starts locking down when the vials are compromised (Presumably a containment measure), and then the segment ends in a 'History' of the civilisation that shows the galaxy being consumed by something represented in red (Clearly hostile), which Kwan refers to as a 'Growth' whilst thinking about her vague, unstoppable Monster.
If that's not meant to be Flood, it's the most annoying mis-direct of all time.
Like Jar Jar, Kwon is the key to all of this.

The problem with the size of the explosion is; Even if you 100% efficiently convert all the mass in the atoms of a ship into energy, you still wouldn't have enough energy to do what the show says. Like even if you made the fusion drive fuse every atom in the ship, it still wouldn't do it.
The fact that Microsoft/Xbox green lighted this POS of a Halo show, says everything. No one involved knows a single thing about making something good. Halo absolutely should have been movies with a great director and a great writer. People exist that could of done that.
