Only problem there is that all the characters react with horror when they head that the Covenant now has Cortana, which means they all understand her worth, so there’s not really an excuse to leave her behind, but yeah.

I mean.. Even the Admiral's death only works if you're dumb tbh. "Mhmm.. So we just had this scene about how important it is for me to survive this, Oh no, the fuel lines are still connected, clearly no other random marine can be sent to release those, I the very valuable admiral will do it myself and kill these enemies with a classic one liner!"
The thought the same but noticed not many marines were available on that ship mostly civilians and civilians couldn't do it.

Taking away the Spartan suits in this episode is really a slap in the face to those who have complained about Master Chief showing his face. I could understand him not having his armor, during the initial battle in this episode, but the Spartans not getting their armor once they reach the base is very strange and disappointing.
I'll give the show credit that the action and CGI has gotten much better, but it's just a shame the show cant reach the kind of levels we expect from a live-action Halo show with Master Chief.
Writers do this all the time, when a character is considered too powerful or too popular, they started giving them handicap.

totally disagree 1000% i thought them not having there armor was fantastic. it was done to show there not to different than the marines, and inspired them. it showed that they are still deadly even without there armor. Ofc there going to get there armor back at some point soon. Halsey probably has some hidden away oni didn't know about ext. Also dont see how its strange they didn't get there armor. Ackerson took it because he wanted the s2s to die on reach. he wants all the glory for his s3 program
The flip a coin line was actually a reference to Halsey meeting 117 in a jungle gym the day she abducts him into the spartan program. It's in the animated movie The Fall of Reach. I thought that was the only cool part in the series. It surprised me they actually had a little bit of lore correct. But they still flub so many foundational concepts about Halo's identity.
Not to mention, the execution of delivering that bit of lore was just so, so bad.

Normally I agree with AJS reviews, but I have to completely disagree on this one, the Master chief spent the fall of Reach in a fucking T-shirt from the GAP. They were saying the covenant fleet hadn't arrived, then where the hell where all those shots from space coming from, and how can a com really on the planet let the covenant through with the fleet and orbital stations in orbit, also the entire planet is on fire, the main city destroyed with just a small infiltration attack, why would Ackerman not destroy cortana and what use does he have for army specialised to the warriors he left behind. Spartans are made to seem like whinney brats instead of elite shoulders, and why the fuck did those jackets spend 10 minutes just looking at keys, kill him or grab him, his appearance means nothing to them so this is stupid. Also why did Vance shoot 3 needler rounds, everyone knows you hold that s.o.b down and watch 4th of July. And how would some poor woman own and transport soo many relics hundreds of years old from earth. And if the covenant can get ships large enough to drop a Wraith onto the heart of the UNSC Base without being shot down then they can use same ships to take out Mac gins so why go after power plants, this is some of the worst writing I have seen in years with only Amazon's LOTR series being worse. This is a 2/10 of I'm feeling generous and I can't even discuss killing keys in such a cheap an unnecessary manner

I don't believe for one second that it's budgeting problems. Season 1 was 10 MILLION an episode. It's probably the same now. It's just the writing.
The problem is the same as many other current series, they are overbloated, the want to extract 12+ hours of content from a story that can at best give 4 or 5. In their need to make multiple seasons this made their budget run thin. They should eliminate unnecessary side stories and focus on the essentials then they would have more budget for the action scenes.
The problem is lack of talent and vision
The directing seems a lot better than last season, atleast we’re getting some cool scenes mixed in but the writing is still piss poor

I was literally screaming for SOMEONE, ANYONE to pick up a sword the entire episode, and then finally at the end of the episode - HE DOES! Only to be abruptly KO'd by plasma. I'M SO PISSED! Like WHY???? They let the blind albino dude grenade launch fucking a whole pack of elites, but we can't see the Master Chief have one energy sword duel with an elite? If nothing else, at least we were finally spared from Kwan's boring subplot.

I feel a huge problem with the series is that it is overbloated with side stories. They are trying to extract 12+ hours of content of a story that could be better told like in 2. Remove Kwan remove Maki, focus on the Spartans and there will be more budget for the epic battles that Halo is known for.
Like, give me a 5 episode short series as apposed to 8 with filler

Paramount tv shows remember no budget I think they spent some of it on filming on location in Slovakia and Hungary also Iceland
They are fighting a losing battle. Why would they send ODST in like that when they are basically the elite of the UNSC outside of the spartans. Also they mentioned that most of the Navy Fled which is where they are stationed.

I have two theories of what I think will happen with Silver team throughout the rest of the show.
1. The show is going to pull a Halo Reach moment. Chief is going to end up alone, as all of the other remaining members of Silver team get taken out. Eventually leaving Chief on his own with Cortana on the halo.
2. Silver team survives. Soren takes Vannak's place, returning as a Spartan, after he gets convinced by either John or Halsey. Soren becomes the hero his son is looking for, and redeems himself, from pirate to spartan once more. Halsey has a secret lab or some other place, where perhaps she has spare armor the team can use. Hopefully we see Chief wearing Mk5 armor like in the first Halo.
I don't know, perhaps I'm Reaching (wink) too far.

Fuck man this hurts. This hurts a lot hearing Angry Joe of all people getting this wrong.
None of those that completed the Spartan II program ever had “dreams” and wants of “normal” military lives. They had no concept of that. They had the program. They had their team members and they had the mission. To them honing their abilities and survival skills was all there was almost to an anime degree of seriousness. They pushed and tested each other to disgusting ends to the point all that remained where those that survived.
This pop-culture reinterpretation is changing you Joe. Please do yourself a favor and read the books. Your mind will be fucking blown away at the richness of the actual Halo lore and development John and blue team went through leading up to the events of Reach.
Please, if you call yourself a true Halo fan do this. Find that small increment of free time a day to open the book and at least read the first ten chapters. I promise you won’t regret it.
I enjoyed the books, even though they weren't written very well. Even Bungie AND 343 pretty much retconned those books. so...there ya go.
ONI took the suits, but not the only people in the universe capable of wearing them without getting crippled.

Yeah I was so confused because they even including multiple times the whole episode about surviving augmentation ... so they get it or don't get it?! Because what's the point of saving the suits if no one can wear them and we've established that Halsey has committed crimes for putting people through that... so they wouldn't put more kids through it.
Ackerson took the suits cause he plans on starting a spartan 3/4 program. He hinted at it when he last talked to Halsey. He wants to replace her broken product with a better one (so he thinks).

@@zoomunzoom5893 Yes, the Spartan 2 suits do kill users not augemented enough to use them (Though I'm fairly sure 3's can as Noble Team make use of Mark Vb) but the suits themselves make a perfect testbed from which new armour can be developed. I reckon that's why they took them.

I just love how they like to shit on an iconic part of the chief. Additionally, The Battle of Reach is supposed to be a epic battlefield, with battles on the ground and in space. And here we have 50 marines and three Spartans without armor...

Also I get that this makes more sense to have the spartans to fight without the suits but it makes no sense to take the suits in the first place and leave Cortana behind. They knew what was coming, they had time to prepare.The story is sadly still weak.

I dont understand the obsession with wanting master chief in a helmet ? Halos story from the game is not very interesting... I was in line and got one of xbox consoles on released night .So I've been here since day one., but halo would never be considered great if the first game was released today..... This show has finally gottwn good, and I now realize that most people on this show and channel have never served. As a halo fan, the story was good as a story included in a multiplayer pvp centric game. I mean the games plot is just nothing spectacular. It’s just fun to play.
Ill say this, Halo reaches first contact gave me "Sir, its the Winter Contingency, I repeat the Covenant is on Reach. May god help us all." Halo series gave me Elites waddling invis into a market center.

She has information about the location of Earth, which if in the covenant’s hands, would mean the end of humanity. Unless they physically erased a majority of Cortana’s memory and made a copy of her, it still makes no sense

They did okay without armor, chief was struggling with just one elite when in episode 1 with his armor, he was taking out quite abit of them with not a lot of struggle
@FakeAccount-vw9gi I don't know the armor looked like more of a hindrance. These Spartans killed Elites pretty damn easy. Maybe in this universe the armor doesn't really help that much at all. It is the Silver time-line and obviously this universe is nothing like the real time-line. Maybe the armor, like every other bit of lore just doesn't matter in this version of Halo.
In terms of money...we have no money.
far as i know the main purpose of spartan armor was giving them an energy shield and spacesuit capable, without it, they were still fine in combat but more vulnerable it isn't fallout power armor

I liked how there was never too much of a hurry in the middle of a battle and they could have drama and sad moments, pondering the sadness of human life. Cried every time.

The whole hanger was set on fire due to keyes disconnecting the fuel pump and gassing the entire hanger before the shuttle took off and burned the whole hanger.
Like actually a good point, no one opens the hanger door to confirm it. The jackals try to take him hostage and he ends up being protected from the explosion from one of their shields. Maybe.
Remember how Makee died at the end of the first season, but yet she is in this second season...alive. We didn't see Keyes dead body. Meaning it is possible he is still alive. @DunWorryBoutitBoutit

My prediction for Kai... Akerson lies to her to get her on an evac ship saying something like "the other Spartans will be there too". She boards the ship with all their Spartans armor. She figures out the truth and takes all their armor and loads it into some ODST pods and escapes back to the planet. John and Riz put on their armor and now that Vannik is dead, Soren puts on Vanniks armor.
One ODST pod barely holds one person. Ain’t no way she’s fitting 4 suits of MJOLNIR in there.
Mjolnir is explicitly made for each individual Spartan. Which does make logical sense.
When you have Bleeding Edge power armour that costs as much as an entire starship these things aren't going to be one-size-fits-all.
They really should have killed Riz before Vannak.
Yeah - I thought that’s what they were setting up with her episode 3 breakdown.
She stood there and watched Cheeks get hit then stood there and watched Vannak get hit. Soren did too but I'll cut him some slack as he was imprisoned like an hour before this.
My biggest gripe was that it just felt so "small" - probably due to budget, I don't know.
I have two predictions of what we will see this season:
1: Sorin's son will be recruited into Spartan-III program.
2: Miranda Keys is on the Pillar of Autumn.
I had the same thought about Miranda. I think she will replace Keys on the PoA when the flood attack.
The Spartans IIIs are already like 20 something years old as this is taking place. We literally see them wearing SPI armor in the trailers.
Having MC not being in his armor is absolutely ridiculous and immersion breaking. They are Spartans, always ready for battle. Where is their most important battle gear, their armor?

If this is a 9/10 then that speaks volumes for how trash this show is as a whole. This was no where near a good episode from a writing standpoint. You want people to believe they just abandoned their most valuable military asset but they took...the suits? Is Ackerson working for the Covenant? Because that is the only way any of this makes any fucking sense. You also kill off one of the best actors in the show which also shits on the lore right after we get a scene from John saying how important the Admiral surviving is for the human race. You got trained Spartans acting like rookies in battles and for some reason Makee likes John so much she lets him live...twice? What kind of bullshit writing is that? The only believable acting in this entire episode is Perez. Everything else is just trash but the episode gets a pass because of cool action scenes and no Kwan. Sad excuse of a Halo show.

i loved the books. fall of reach is such a great pretext to humanity, and the spartan program... that moment of John talking about his uncanny luck. retelling the moment dr. halsey found him in the schoolyard, testing his ability of intuition, paid great homage to the novels. the true lore of John. he always survives, and i hope this show does John's story justice.

I think they were going for a motivational type of vibe having Spartans fight a losing battle alongside marines at a disadvantage themselves we saw five Spartans in combat without armor and they all stood out amongst the unaugmented marines for me it was kinda cool to see what a Spartan’s capabilities would look like outside of armor
We are getting Spartan 3's and Ackerson hints it in episode 3. I still think Kwan will end up in the Spartan 3 program, Oni, or become an ODST. Keyes's death actually hurt me, and Vannak's death took me even more off guard. But it is the Fall of Reach and Spartan's we're lost. Miranada is definitely commanding the Pillar of Autumn as Captain Keyes.

its like halo fans just care about explosions, and complain about the garbage story just when chief removes his helmet or something, or when kwan shows up.
@Spillow-C I felt the mid season battle in S1 was average, this felt like Halo, you see the height difference of the elites to grunts and to humans better, the action felt more like Exodus on Halo Reach. The episode felt like I always wondered what happend on reach in the mission New Alexandria but on the ground and not in the air and I got that.
@@BEAR_ITS that one was actually more Halo because it resembled more the open map combat with enemy and friendly vehicles and troops, that creates the sandbox halo chaos, and when exactly halo is "realistic and brutal"??? maybe a bit Reach but the exception.
Halo its very light war game, and Covenants dont look moody or something, they are very colorful and dont look like monsters, they are even funny at times, grunts are the comedy reliefs too. The floods are the scary enemy.
@@Spillow-CIm speaking from a pure artistic POV in Halo Reach the covenant were supposed to be terrifying, an all evil group of aliens kicking our asses. While yes it was a more open chaotic scene it was one scene in the whole show, not an entire episode that felt like a minor story in Halo. At this point the Covenenant should be scary as we are still in the human covenenat war not H4-Infinite timeframe. If you look at Reachs storyline the UNSC is scared shitless of the Covenenat doing everything they can to stop them. The show is from what i can see trying to somewhat replicate that. Itd be out of place in this series to see grunts laughing and being funny, it wouldnt make sense to the average viewer whomse this is marketed towards. While yes I agree the Covenenant should be colorful like CE and H2 it wouldnt make sense for this story. The flood while terrifying wont make sense till S3 when we finally get to an installation (maybe 04).

I’m surprised that the Joe and the guys weren’t more bothered that the mjolnir was taken away and will likely (hopefully not ) be gone for the entire fall of reach. It’s like the writers were like oh you don’t like master chief without his helmet?? Doubled down x1000 and took his armor away completely. One thing i thought could happen / really hope happens is that Kai wherever she is has access to the armor realizes that it was taken away and they’re all going to die especially without their armor brings it to them and yada yada.. decent episode. But still almost every decision the writers made in this show confuses me more and more. They literally had the most epic story laid out for them and they wiped their butts with it and made this demented mess. Ep. 4 7/10. And that’s being generous

This episode is overall better than the rest but it felt rushed with the character deaths, soran and Halsey side plot felt like it was directed by someone else with Bad marvel vibes, odd scenes and dialogue when it slowed down, and odd battle forms.
I think when they review the scores again they might end up lowering this episode’s overall score.
And yes, no Kwan makes it better lol
We still haven't seen any fuckin grunts this season though! I think they need a movie with a solid budget for this to be a good halo project
The part where he was talking about the coin was about how lucky he is. It’s in the games and books. I thought it was cool that they put that in. He literally falls from space into an atmosphere in every Halo game and survives. The intro of Halo 3 explains it. He called heads 11 times in a row because he knew it. He went into battle knowing he wouldn’t die, but others would. He’s always been about luck.
Love their workaround for peoples complaints about chief and his helmet they’re like “we’ll just take his armor away then no one can say anything about it” lmao 🤣
"Onyx" can not be la ow budget episode, and it CANNOT involve Kwan. In the real timeline, Onyx is a super important human planet (which used to be a Forerunner planet) that is now the insanely top secret training facility for the next generation of Spartans, and includes several huge Forerunner mysteries. If they're jumping to Onyx already, they better know what they're doing

The laser is not the main issue on the original XBOX, it's one of the capacitors. Ppl keep telling me every XBOX has that faulty capacitor and will leak, that I should just open it and cut it off until I can get it replaced. I'd bet the random explosions were originally planned to be the glassing beams - but then production realised their lack of budget so added a line of dialogue to establish that the glassing hasnt begun yet.
I'd also bet we'll see a couple or a few shots of Covenant glassing Reach but most of it will happen off screen.

A lot of the battles were exciting for the most part, even though it sometimes felt like a CoD promo ad.
The Arbiter decapitating the Elite for interrupting his fight was hilarious.
Cons: Killing Keyes so soon before even reaching Halo was ridiculous.
The Elites behaved more like World War Z zombies rather than skilled warriors.
Ackerson took the MJOLNIR armor but left Cortana which is even more important.
The Marines armor and helmets were….weird.

the wound the Master Chief received could be one, that gets him put in Cryo and transported to the Pillar of Autumn effectively making every other episode Chiefless until maybe the last.

I think the fact that Soren was able to hear the covenant scaling the building over all the background noise of people talking and shouting spaceship engines gives credibility to Luis being able to shoot blind….Spartans just have enhanced senses
