Con Di Stefano avveniva il fenomeno dell'esplosione spontanea dell'applauso provocato dalla bellezza inarrivabile della sua voce e della sua interpretazione!
@@pippofan it sounds like Sordello my first hearing him was in a Butterfly recording of course his defining moment was getting fired from the Met for holding a note too long with Callas in a production of Lucia Di Lammermoor
Callas pulled a Diva on him! She did that to Maestro Di Stefano once at La Scala Traviata, she demanded a solo curtain call. Di Stefano walked out on her , and the rest of the performances. They didn't speak for a long while after that.
@@pippofan Callas could be a diva. Her relationship with Di Stefano was to say the least very complex. After the Traviata walkout Callas recorded Madama Butterfly with Nicolai Gedda and then Callas and Di Stefano recorded Rigoletto together. There was always a tension between Maria and Pippo some would suggest a sensual or even sexual tension.
@frankmaiorana66 Callas and Di Stefano were lovers during the final tour. They were also on the same level as performers. Callas referred to him as her only colleague and said, "He sang like a god." Di Stefano was equally awed by both her persona and her artistry. They were soulmates.
The most touching performance!!!
Golden beauty!

Il grande dei GRANDi.PIPPO...
Quando raccoglie il la bemolle (invece di aprirlo a scassa-gola, imitando Gigli) è inarrivabile.
Who is the baritone?
Enzo Sordello
