A book recommendation, romance. It’s all the yummy bits of a love story. So typical you know how it’s going to end. Enjoyable. “The Happy Ever After Playlist” by Abby Jimenez it’s the second book in a series, but I don’t think it matters.

This was a great video!! I love the mismatched socks and of course, I had to buy the pattern set. I also enjoy your book reviews and I can never get enough book reviews. Thank you for your answer to Nancy's question. Definitely gave some solid advice for anyone wanting to change their life to a more creative avenue. I agree with you about there needs to be more people sharing their "blueprints" of how they went about changing their lives. Thank you for your knitting patterns and inspiration. Looking forward to next Tuesday and Friday. Have a good week!

Summer your colour combo as are always amazing. You make it sound so easy. I think it would take me longer to choose 5 colours to put together than it would to knit the sock! im sure I’m not alone on this one. If a person was going to create a colourful sock yarn stash, can you suggest to us to a couple of colour bundles to work from. Seriously. I am always in awe of your combinations.

I love the mismatched socks! 🧦 I just left my job as a phlebotomist and went full time at my part time job, in a grocery store. I love the working at the “neighborhood grocery store” and feel like I have more time and flexibility to be more creative. I now work with people that are so creative and feed my love for knitting/crocheting.

I have long admired your color choices for your patterns. You have the best color sense.
I am just loving your podcast- it’s like conversation with a friend or neighbor. ❤
My question is- I want to try toe up socks (just to mix up my sock life!) and feel intimidated because placing the heel seems trickier than top down. I prefer a short row heel, and wondered if you can talk about getting the heel at the right spot? Thank you so much!

So fun! Loving the mismatched socks! Nancy is my homegirl - also teaching, also in my mid-life, also single-parenting a kid at the beginning of his college journey, also feeling that educator burn-out all the time. You're not alone! Education is killer in all the wrong ways. There's a book out there called "How to Make It," and it's stories of makers moving into creative work as their livelihood. Worth a read! And full of amazing advice. (And loved what you said, Summer!)

Hi Summer! I think your advice about first deciding what you're passionate about, not what you wish you were passionate about, was right on the mark. A lot of folks fantasize about earning an income from what is currently a hobby, but if there is no passion propelling them forward, it's very easy to become discouraged and possibly end up hating a hobby that once at least provided pleasure. Social media makes it all to easy to fantasize. Your other two points were also informative. Thanks for posting on a regular basis again!

    Love your podcast!
Just finished a Stash Dive Scarf ❤
    Question & Topic Ideas:
    1) Knitting reference Library essential books and resources for design.
    2) Matching a sock yarn to a pattern. When to use the good stuff and show it off or use the budget staples.
    3) Sizing up yarn needles for different sizes of socks yes or no. Your thoughts on why some designer suggest this and other don't.
    4) Yarn storage tour!!
    5) Mini skeins or scrap bin?
    ❤❤❤

I am wondering if Nancy can incorporate here creative side into her curriculum at school. I think you said she is a home ec teacher. If there are any options to motivate her stude,ts to be creative in designing their spaces with homemade art pieces, or things of that nature. It depends on her school but motivating her students in a creative way might make the job she needs more enjoyable.

Thanks for another engaging and enjoyable podcast. I would like to hear more about your preferred method for sock knitting. I can only knit two at a time toe up. I have tried cuff down and I just can’t do it and as this is my hobby which I do for pleasure and relaxation, I’m not going to stress myself by trying to do something I can’t get my head around. Also, the few times I have knitted one sock, I’ve never gotten round to knitting the second one, so I always do two at a time. Have you tried other methods than you preferred one and why do you prefer the method that you use?

I'm so happy that I found your podcast, and this episode really speaks to me and the things I love. I LOVE Fiona Apple, and I just started reading Romantic Comedy a couple of weeks ago, and I’m really enjoying it. I really liked Curtis Sittenfeld’s book Eligible; it was a super fun take on Pride and Prejudice. I started Rodham, but feel a little weird about that one for some reason. I’ll have to read Prep next, after I finish Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid (I’m a big fan of her books too).
Please keep the conversation going about making life changes at any age. I'm feeling pretty stuck too, but not sure I have the confidence to make a big leap at my age (56). It’s refreshing to me to have found your podcast because I love knitting podcasts, but you also have real life topics to discuss. And your positive and friendly demeanor is very engaging.

Summer - I loved your podcast! I just discovered you today when I was browsing through a weekly email from a LYS (Spun in Ann Arbor). I'm a bit of newbie when it comes to sock knitting so I ended up pre-ordering your book and am looking forward to getting it. When I moved back to Texas from Michigan, the things I knit have changed. I’d love to hear more about your journey to growing this business for your passion. I feel the exact same way - my passion is art, color, and design. I have so many ideas in my head about different patterns I want to make, and never enough time. I’m trying to get ready to fully commit to this, and I’m so scared to fail. I’m scared of the feelings of rejection that it won’t become what I feel like it has the potential to, and that it’s going to fail because I don’t have what it takes. 🫣

Hello Summer⭐ Oh Fiona Apple my Love🩷 We are of a similar age, I was born in 1982 and I remember listening to her electrifying voice non-stop on a cassette tape... I know all the lyrics by heart. In the 1990s, a wave of completely new music and musical personalities flooded us pleasantly from every direction. Bands like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden... Oh what a beautiful time. Carefree, a little crazy, beautiful. It's so nice to hear that you remember that time equally fondly. Hugs, Ania (Poland, Gdańsk).🚀🌸
