18 seconds in and i'm already wanting a pair of pink socks. i'm so impressionable.
I loved the weather lesson! When I was 10 our car broke down in OK. We looked across the field and saw the tornado funnel. Thankfully, it did not come our way as we were sitting ducks with no where to shelter. That was 52 years ago and I still remember it. Beautiful socks!!
Glad to know I’m not the only one that goes outside to stare at their plants. 😊 Thank you for the discount code. Love the pink socks.
The name Stillwater couldn't be further from the reality of these socks. "TOEnadoes" maybe?
Without even looking I know exactly what day you recorded this one 🤦🏻♀️ That was a tough night. I live in southern Oklahoma and we had 5 of those tornados in our area 😞 destroyed dollar tree warehouse, dollar general, homeland store and the entire downtown area of Sulphur and so many homes and so much debit and destruction. We were very lucky and my family was safely hunkered down in the shelter for four hours. My knitting helps me so much during the tornado season as well as all seasons of life!
Pink is my favorite color especially this shade of pink! Thank you summer for another great episode!
Hi from Ada! I am glad your family was safe. Scary night
i learned so much about tornados! I am obsessed with warm toned pinks, that yarn was perfect for your socks ♥️
Ok I'm all in for anything sock related BUT the general weather knowledges/states related weather knowledges at the beginning of the video ?? I'm a DEFINITELY here for it 😂 ! Very thankful for each and every of your video btw ! Xx 💞
I watched Twister because of you the other day, Summer! What an amazing movie. Hope everyone stays safe this storm season!!
Knitting is perfect for severe weather. I knitted my way through the disastrous Wildfire Season of 2017. Smoke filled my town's skies from late July until October. It was a gift when the smoke would clear enough that you could see across the street. Not sure what this summer will bring-but I am armed and ready. In other words I have lots of yarn. I totally agree with you on the eye of partridge heel.
Doing laundry when you have a tornado watch is perfectly logical! We live in an area without municipal sewer and water, meaning we rely on electricity to have water. When we have a t-watch, I fill a few water jugs for drinking, and my washing machine for toilet flushing. If we don't have any storms, I have water ready for laundry. I am loving your new book so much and pray for a quieting of the weather. Best wishes.
as a meteorologist and a sock knitter, seeing the SPC Outlook in your thumbnail made me so excited lol hope you stayed safe
wait also do you have a meteorological background? you know so much more than average person!
Your house and street look so similar to the east Dallas neighborhood I grew up in. As a kid I was terrified of tornados and couldn’t enjoy a gloomy stormy day until I moved out of tornado alley. I’m glad y’all stayed safe!
Growing up, my dream job was to be a meteorologist - love the tornado chat! Also, that you are all safe... Last week i just had to cast on some faded shortie socks, now I need the perfect pink socks too. Maybe I can name mine after the highly unusual sightings of the Northern Lights that have been visible across the UK this weekend. Which I slept through... Happy Sunday!
The intense weather education here at the beginning of the program. Dang Summer. You hit me hard!
The socks are beautiful! And this New England knitter loved the weather lessons!!!!
🖐🏻also in the Midwest. I loved your explanation of our “normal” spring weather. The more we understand the less surprising it can be. Ty
No extreme weather in the U.K. but extreme excitement. It’s finally here my Sock Project Book 😍
Loving Metrology with Summer and loving those socks! ❤️😁
Live in Jenks and even though I get tired of all the weather interruptions to our TV shows, I enjoyed the information you shared.
Love this sock pattern!
I love that you were watching Ryan Hall Y'all. I follow him, too. I was thinking of you during those days. Love the socks, they are gorgeous! I will be knitting a pair soon. Heading over for the pattern now!
I loved the tornado lesson! It's so interesting as an Australian and was so foreign when we lived in Atlanta where we had a couple of these storm warnings. My son and I just watched a video on OK and tornados. I'm going to show him this video and who knows he may come to love knitting as much as I do.
Holy crap Tornadoes are super scary for mountain folk like me. I lived in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada for a few years and their weather can be terrifying 😱 I’m a Rocky mountain girl and our fears are forest fires which have been horrible the last few years. Love the socks.
Hi from a fellow neighbour a hour north of Edmonton! We here where I live last year had a major wind storm and lots of stuff got destroyed it was intense.. I think the hardest is the -30 s
Finally, got hold of your new book! Congratulations to you🌹 It's a gorgeous book.
Heard there were three weak tornados in Tulsa this past Wednesday. Stay safe 💕
Love those pink socks 🧦 🤗
Your tornado lesson was totally engrossing, concise, and set the spooky mood. Loved seeing your unique flag and neighborhood. Here in Arizona we have dust storms which mostly ‘destroy’ our pools, air, and eyeballs (late June-August).
Just completed my first pair of Hibernal socks. Now time to buy that beautiful Stillwater pattern!
Love your PINK socks! Thanks for taking me along with your tornado watch and the amazing education, I learned so much!
Your socks are SO cute! I had to buy the pattern. Thank you for the discount! I’ll be knitting them for one of my daughters, who happens to live in Stillwater, MN. Pink & light blue are her favorite colors, so that’s what colors I’ll be using.
I’m so glad the tornado’s missed you!
Thanks, again!
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I love your bangs and your hair in general. It frames your face beautifully. I've seen several podcasters showing your book and all of them love it. Love the perfect pink socks.
I loved the weather lesson!
Your podcasts are always enjoyable Summer! Very interesting learning about "twisters" and I look forward to knitting the Stillwater Socks. Thanks for the discount!😀
Summer, you always are wearing the coolest shirts❤
I want pink socks, too! I like pink as much as you. I’m going to buy your book.
Such a cute pattern! Thankful I saw the video today so I could use the discount! You talked so calmly about tornados. We get them where I live, and I’m never as calm as you 😂
I love the weather lesson!! Learning something new everyday 😊 lovely socks 🧦 can’t wait to crack open your book and get knitting 🧶
Stillwaters is one of my all time favorite patterns!!! It is my comfort knit I have it on needles pretty much at all times. I bet I have knit it over 20x lol.
Such adorable socks! Glad to hear the tornadoes passed you by. I live in the northeast now, but my Midwest heart took a dive on hearing that siren sample! Our town siren was only a couple of blocks away from our house.
I just came back to California from Bartlesville while visiting my brother and his family - I wanted to experience thunder and lightning but not tornados - my family is fine. I finished a pair of socks on my visit to OK. Loved your explanation of the weather and how it forms.
So glad your family was safe. Living in Missouri, we have been getting tornado alerts as well. Very scary.. your pink socks are so cute!
So happy to see you! ❤ And that your area was spared the tornados. My anxiety would be ramped up with just the warnings!! 😅
Those socks are adorable ! You almost make tornado's sound exciting, but I am glad we don't have them here. Hope you will all stay clear from danger and damage this season.
Love looking at your vlog from the Netherlands (we have no tornado’s s but lots of rain these days 🌧) while knitting……..socks of course. Thanks I like watching you👍
Wow, what a good teacher you are...thank you for these interesting facts! Love your socks and this bright yellow really pops. P.S. I do stare at my plants, flowers and trees everyday😂
I just knitted a pair of pink socks to give to a friend of my daughter’s They turned out so nicely.
So glad you survived all the tornados!!
I love this pattern. I also love your book. I'm so inspired to knit socks!!!!
I am so relieved to see your video pop up. I have been watching the weather patterns forming around your area. Good to see you came out unscathed.
Your socks are beautiful (and I'm not a "pink person") and your weather narrative was fascinating!!
Good to see you Summer! I can only imagine that living in Tornado Alley is pretty anxiety inducing - no wonder your knitting tension is tight if you're watching storm news! I'm in Arizona and, my family - whenever we see extreme weather in the news we always say "Thank you Arizona". Half jokingly and half earnestly 🤣 because, of course AZ has it's own hazards, but they are more predictable than tornados, blizzards, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc etc. Anyway, glad you made it through ok!
The tornado lesson reminded me of my childhood in Wichita. I just got your book earlier this week and am LOVING it❤ Glad you guys were ok with the storms from earlier this week.
Great socks!!! Great pink!!!
Also coming from the UK I know very little about tornados, so this was really interesting! Thank you xx
ahhh! I am going to need to tag you in a photo of the pink Stillwater socks I made a while back. They are my FAVORITE handknit socks!!!!
I love weather and actually majored in meteorology in college, very impressed with your tornado knowledge!
I love the weather update special in this episode. 😂 These socks are so pretty, I just had to buy the pattern. Can’t wait to work them up!
Beautiful socks! I’ve got the pattern. Thank you! Pink is my favorite color.
Love watching your videos every week. I always learn so much!
Love the socks💕. I’m so glad the tornadoes passed you. I can’t imagine how scary that is
Thanks for the update both on the socks (beautiful color!) and the weather situation. I've been thinking about you a lot and hoping you and your family are safe and sound. Take good care
Love your videos! The sock is beautiful. Stay as safe as possible with all this weather throughout May. Thanks for the weather tutorial. Very interesting.
I’m very interested in meteorology, so thank you for the lesson. I’m happy that you were not involved in any tornado activity. Your peachy pink socks were beautiful. Of course, I purchased the pattern. Thank you for the discount. Looking forward to your next video. ❤
Oh my gosh I learned so much here- I have always wondered why there are so many tornadoes at night.
My anxiety would struggle if I lived in Oklahoma. I feel for you 😢
Loved the weather education. Living in PNW, we do not get any of that kind of weather. And, you home is so cozy and beautiful. I would be sitting, knitting, too. :) Loved the entire video and the finished socks with surprise color toe are amazing!!!!!
Ha! My first time watching and I get spicy storm / tornado action!! I am a knitting fan and a weather fan. Super thankful you didn’t have any tornado activity! Super fun to watch and those socks are beautiful 😍 Now I’m off to watch all you videos 😂
Beautiful socks!!! This is why I left TX; tornados are too terrifying for me. Bravo to you for handling it so well. Happy knitting 💚🧶💚
We live in KY and have family in Jenks, and in TN and AR, so on your second tornado sock night I stayed up til 1 am watching the weather and knitting a vanilla sock. I can't concentrate on a patterned sock and weather watch 😏 Glad to hear that the air was too dry!
I love learning about other parts of America (I live in Michigan). Thank you for the meteorology lesson.
I love the socks. ❤I’m hoping Amazon will deliver your Sock Project book to me in the UK this week. Fascinating learning about tornadoes! Thank you. 🌷
PS: You could be on the Weather Channel! I love the pink socks. Sometimes we have tornadoes in Virginia, too.
We were in a level 3 for both fronts and had several level 1 tornados, I cannot imagine a level purple! Happy socks! Love your shoes to show them off!
The 5/6 storms arrived at 3am in my area in Arkansas. I think NWS is evaluating where three F-1 tornadoes moved through. I think I'm going to take my knitting with me the next time we're hunkering down in the closet!
It has been a spicy spring in the weather department. We are in Kansas City and haven't had as many tornado shenanigans as you, but the thunderstorms, hail and wind have been nuts. I love the pink socks. I have not made any pink ones so that may be my next sock cast on. Thanks for the discount. You have amazing patterns.
Always love watching your podcasts! Love the 🩷 socks!
LOVE Coates & Co yarns. They are so vibrant. I have several in my stash as well as her advent calendar of minis. I knit a beautiful striped sweater out of her autumn mini set. Your weather comes to Ohio the next day. It was a blustery week last week. Ohio already has twice the usual number of tornadoes this spring.
I look at your patterns all the time..... why have i never noticed how wonderful this one is??????? Maybe it was just your color choice this time but wow those are lovely and i will be heading over to snag the pattern right now, or well hold on my kids made a horrendous chocolate cereal mess so right after that........ these will look great with my new birkenstocks that yes i bought expressly ro wear with handmade socks lol So glad you and your family weathered the weather!
I just ordered the pattern but had no place to put in the discount. I love the sock pattern so much that I am not disappointed. I have pink yarn and will be starting my pair today!!!! ❤
I enjoyed this weather/knitting vlog sooooo much!! These socks are so lovely, I need some plain ish yarn to make these asap! ❤
i casted on a pink stripey socks two days ago! using 4 pinks in my stash and i’m loving it
Would not be a Summer Lee sock without the pop of that color. I’m absolutely terrified of tornadoes. When I was in Rockford IL we had just finished watching Into the Storm and the sirens went off with no warnings and a tornado touched down less than a mile from us. Huge nope for me.
Pink is my FAVORITE color!!! 😍😍😍 also I too love to knit while watching severe weather alerts/news. You’re in tornado alley, I’m in hurricane alley (I know that’s not a real thing but for us here in coastal SC it is lol).
I just finished a pair of pink Leap Year socks, last evening. Thanks for the pattern. 😊
You need to make yourself a pair a Dorothy Gale socks for the tornado season
I can’t believe you gave up a potential career as a meteorologist/storm chaser to design socks and be a sock supermodel 😂 You’re awesome and I look forward to watching every episode. Big hugs 🤗
Your video was great! I like hearing about weather, I see in the news about, tornados in the southern US always. The socks look great and I love them with your shoes.
swimming suits that don't let your butt fall out - my faves are Land's End. I have family in OK and specifically the Tulsa area. I've seen some pretty spectacular storms there. Tornadoes are still a recurring nightmare for me.
Loved watching you go through a tornado watch. I am a retired flight attendant and after going through severe weather for 46 years it was fun to learn what you know about these storms. I am born and raised and still live in the Los Angeles area so I can talkabout earthquakes but not tornados on the ground. Love your socks and house and cute neighborhood, I also love your book.
Cutest pattern ❤ had to have it for Mother’s Day 🎉 thank you for the discount .. makes a huge difference in AUD 🥳
The socks are beautiful!!! Thank you!
Summer Lee: full time knitter, part time weather girl. lol. Being from OK, I totally get the late night tornado watching. Beautiful socks! Off to ravelry to purchase.
Thanks for the meteorological lesson! I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba which is straight north of Tulsa. We too are considered part of Tornado Alley, with our ugliest storms coming in June 🌪️. Love those pink socks! Stay safe!
Now I need a pair of perfect pink socks! Yours are fabulous. I live in the Texas Panhandle and knew about the dry line but I have not heard of the CAPE index before. I’m glad you are safe.
Thank you for the pattern and the weather lesson.
Great socks!!❤❤Thanks for the discount!!
I just received your book and not sure how I missed that we live in the same area. I’m in a small town just north of Tulsa. This was such a stressful day and so many people we know were affected by this storm. So sad.
Love the socks! I had to purchase the pattern. Appreciate the discount. You are so funny and sweet. Hope the braces are going good.
I've lived in OK since 1998, and I now have a better understanding of our crazy weather after watching your video! I was knitting from your book during the "spicy" storms, ready to head to the shelter if need be. Perfect pink socks! And love the name of the pattern, very fitting. 😊
Love your socks! And the weather updates. Glad you are all ok. I have seen a lot of damage on tv. Going to get the pattern right now and add it to your book.
Beautiful socks. I want a pair in that pattern now.
We had tornado warnings last week in Tennessee also.
It's so interesting to me that your tornado sirens sound different than the ones we have in Illinois! Similar enough that I would know what was happening but I've lived in many towns in Illinois and all of ours have sounded the same to me.
Lovely socks, I'm off to add the pattern to my collection ❤
Distraction 1: I also do this .... All the time!!! 🤣
Distraction 2: check out Nani swimwear. They're my favorite! The suits are made to be active in!
Love them. We all knew you had to put a color pop in there. 👍🏼. Be safe!
So cool we are north of Seattle so we get more rain storms. We are having an Aurora event tonight
