I knew there was something I had to do after stripping!
My paint shop said just wash and paint.
    Thanks Dave 🍻

Do you use a flex additive in your paint for plastic parts?

You used a rust converter and water to clean the metal tank but what did you use to clean the plastic parts just soap and water?

Do you just throw it on paint or you have to get the clear coat off first? I want to paint my gas tank. It's in good condition but it does have a decal and i believe its under the clear coat and if i paint over the existing paint I think the shape of the decal will still show.

Hi mate, I'm planning on repainting an undamaged stock fuel tank, preferably with aerosol cans if that is okay. Do I need to take it right down with 80 grit or just 800 for the clear coat? Doing frames too. Cheers!

im new to learning to spray paint.. Ive got a bottle of White Spirit in my cupboard, it says "thins paints"... is this the same thing as paint thinner thats mixed with the paints???
So instead of going and buying paint thinner from Car paint shop.. i could buy a few bottles of white spirit instead??

Sir, would you upload a video on how to paint a motorcycle engine, I have a project for my motorcycle, I don't know if I should just invest in having the tools or should I just give it to pro's, but letting it be done by pros could cost me a lot of money and if I invest for the tools, it can be used for more projects in the future, but the thing is, I really want to do the painting by myself and that is the reason for my request..

***** Hello, Use the same method as in this video. Clean with metal conditioner or rust converter, sand with 240g then apply an etch primer or epoxy primer, depending on your top coat.

    • @customspraymods
      @customspraymods  10 років тому

1k etch is perfect. No need for clear on hammer tone

Are there any alternatives to using rust converter??

Hi! I have a question for you. I saw a pic of a car with a rusted bonnet and alot of clearcoats over it, looks super, super awesome. I was wondering if you could make a video on that. take 3 things with rust on it, and do some tests for the best result!
    1. take a rusted piece and just clearcoat it, many layers until it has a nice and even finish
    2. sand some of the rust down, (cause something rust is abit rough when you take your hand over it), get most of that roughness away and clearcoat it... as in number 1.
    3. take the info from 1 and 2, and see whats best, but lay some sort of rust protection over it so that it doesnt rust more and so that the clearcoat dont peal off. and see what turns out the best!
If you can message me back or answer this comment, or somewhere we can talk about it I would like to give you things in more details. I think this will be awesome for the people that are doint patina jobs and stuff like that. :) Thanks!

Interesting the active chemical in the bumper stripper is methylene chloride, the same chemical thats in every other paint stripper but that one is safe for plastic. Lol

This is an old post, sure, but the question still remains.
And the answer is... wait for it... Sound effect technology at the time this video was crafted was highly unreliable and much too expensive and therefore not a viable option. In an effort to keep overhead low while providing useful information to you at no cost, compromises were made.
