I thoroughly enjoy listening to Aaron Dill, such a wealth of knowledge. Love this video!! A part in the bag that gets overlooked easily
Drooling over the "tour" bunker. They are amazing as you can hit nearly any shot out of them
Did a Titleist outdoor wedge fitting (not at TPI) and it made the wedge game so much easier. Probably one of the most important things to get fit.
Yes and no, in my experience. I used the search function on Titleist website and booked a fitting for "Titleist Fitting" (not Fitting Partners, or Retail Fitters) where it was done at a local golf course with grass driving range. These are actual Titleist employees that service certain golf courses around the area. They travel around on select scheduled dates to do fitting.
I got fitted for my set of SM9 wedges but it was not this in-depth where I was taken to variety of short-game & bunker scenarios like in this video. Your mileages may vary.
@@pngo2017 That’s why I highlighted mine was not at TPI. I did exactly what you did. I wasn’t fit by the Titleist Vokey rep that’s on the PGA Tour, but I found a grind that works well in my sand and lob wedges. I would have 100% ordered the wrong bounce on my own.
@@Dav373 Gotcha. Pretty much the same for me. The rep helped me go with better combinations of grind and bounce than what I initially landed on using the website grind selector tool.
Did he bring out a launch monitor to check for gapping in your case? It wasn't available in my experience.
@@pngo2017 I had a launch monitor on full shots. I never used the launch monitor on my lob wedge as I don’t care about that distance. For the sand wedge we used it, but it was mostly feel, flight window that we looked at. I’m left handed so I was just excited to have options.
Just got fitted in the US by a Titleist fitter. Paid for the fitting but they essentially discounted the same amount as I purchased that day. My fitter was fantastic. If you are committed to buying, go get fitted. I couldn't believe the difference.
Gotta love Vokey for bringing back the 54-8M. Really looking forward to replacing my SM8 54D.
Agreed. I have a 58 sm9 arriving today and I will probably eventually get an M grind since I play 54-58. My current 54 is pretty much what @ianfrasergolf is playing minus the adding 1* of loft. 54 preworn D grind. I went to it even though I don't usually play higher bounce BUT I was breaking down my game and around the greens ( in the rough) I wanted just a touch more help. It work extremely well and the stroke of two it saved was noticed. I vary set setup based on the course but typically the 54 always stays. The D grind was a pleasant surprise as the M would be my normal go to based on how I play shots
D Grind is the M Grind with 04° More Bounce. The Shapes of the Soles are identical.
If the fitting process wasn't so expensive I wouldn't have to go through things "blind" 😂
Great video nonetheless Ian!
A Titleist fitter will charge $ for the fitting but give it back if you purchase. Great experience if you are committed to ordering something.
$100 for a fitting. The fee is credited towards any purchase you make. So if you're going to be making a purchase its a no brainer.
Was looking forward to this video. AD is the 🐐
I love the "announcer's" voice Aaron has. Also seems a good fellow, too.
Had a fantastic Vokey SM9 fitting at the Titleist Fitting Center Germany South in Open.9 Eichenried golf club and experienced the difference between „cavity back irons with more“ loft and real wedges…such a big difference!
Great info. Should do more on course testing!!
such a great video, must book in for an outdoor wedge fitting!

Hence why I said OUTDOOR WEDGE FITTING 😂
Diamana Red Limited Edition. Now in a Vanquish and LOVE it!
Wedge fitting may be the most important part of the game to get fitted.
My wedge game was destroyed by using Callaway wedges wit hthe wrong grind. When I went to Titleist for a fitting it transformed my confidence and my wedge game came back!
No kidding, I got fit into M Grind wedges with very little bounce, after bagging TM wedges with 12-15 degrees of bounce. Might shave 2-5 shots off a round.
@@SpencerRamin o highlight this further, I went the other way. I was playing low bouce becasue I play links golf. However, I need bounce to allow me to attak the ground. I went to the M grind on my 56 (54 but lofted up 2 degrees to add more bounce). High bouce F grind 52 and an S grind on the 60 to allow me to open it up on tight lies.
Its amazing how the stike changes so much with the wrong grind.
Yup. Gotta know what suits your game. Fitting with a brand or fitting yourself. That's golf.
I play the 62 08 M , love it
Please please post a video with the launch monitor numbers for the Sm10 PLEEEEEAAAASSSSEEE
Only thing about the 54D is you can’t really open it up around the greens on tight lies. It’s gotta be laying up at least a little bit.
I play a 54°-10° S Grind and a 58°-04° T, both SM9.
The 54° S replaced a 54°-10° V Grind that Vokey eliminated from their Lineup. I had gotten my V through WedgeWorks.
Basically, the 58° T is my choice for Tighter/Firmer Lies. The 54° is for Poorer Lies and I can Increase Bounce/Loft in my Setup and Swing, if desired.
All respect to Ian and Aaron, but it takes a special pairing to make Ian look like he's 6'4
Love that t shirt Ian is wearing any body tell me what brand it is ?
G-Fore
@@ianfrasergolf thanks looks very smart on you
Ian, what was the Yardage Distance in the first set of Grass Pitches?
Aaron Dill might be the best Rep of all club manufacturers. Isn’t trying to sell anyone product, just trying to help people and genuinely cares.
No question that SM10 is a good wedge but which one will fit you better. I have a fitting session after a few hit, they told me “this club is for you” either I am not consistent enough or they don’t have time and just focus on bigger prize the driver or irons…
No fitting facilities here,Is it possible to get lighter weight wedges that would just be a little heavier than my xxio irons? I need wedges but We’re basically blind buying clubs base on reviews. Do all wedge heads weight within a small range?
Having played forged irons I tried Vokeys and it’s a no from me as they are too hard, difficult to clean and while forged wedges like Mizunos are softer metal, the fact they clean easily means they actually last just as long as Vokeys which retain dirt.
Unfortunately not all titleist fittings are like this. I was at a titleist fitting centre yesterday that was an absolute waste of time and money. Played a couple of 50 yard shots with range balls on the wettest part of the range and that was about it.
Whatever happened to the Fraser Soil Condition Turf Testing Matrix? 🤔
What does an AD live wedge fitting go for at TPI?
I never could hit that volkey. I guess I was to busy hitting Cleveland. 😂😂😂
Eagerly waiting for a full face high toe Vokey
You’ll be waiting a while!!
@@ianfrasergolf I've already waited pretty long, what's another few years :P
@@ianfrasergolf yes a very long while!
High toe not for me
@@philstallone1712 doesn't have to be for everyone
Hey Ian I was fitted for wedges at CC and waiting fro the SM10's fitter recommended just using my Iron shaft which I was fitted for in Nov at CC what are your thoughts?
Should have mentioned the Iron shaft is Project X IO 6.0 110g
Sadly I switched to the TW grind MG4...I can't go back
Looking more like Cleveland wedges every year.
Definitely don’t see that.
Cleveland wedges look bigger at address and the feel is much different with the zipcore tech. Especially when it comes to the weighting in the wedges.Their sole is also more of a v grind, which is quite different from the s or even d grind. I would disagree with this.
I bet you have 4 bags this season…too many toys!
Defeats the purpose of a hybrid, the short shaft in hybrids is part of the appeal to amatuers, the longer shaft means, why not just use a fairway wood. Adjustability is overrated for club golfers, changing a hosel adjustment, changes loft, lie and offset, so in the wrong hands a disaster.
Should have called it SM-X
I don’t trust this unless you go all over the world for just one fitting
New Titleist woods are out this year. I’d be surprised if Ian didn’t get a chance to see/hit prototypes
Lmao every year more wasted money
I wish I could get a fitting as thorough and good as this near me 🤌
