That was pure gold. Seems the fitting went well because Ian knows what shot shape he wants and in what conditions. That may be the key when getting fitted. Additionally the fitter referenced Ian’s iron swing and not wanting to mess with it while fitting the driver……seems getting the right fitter makes all the difference
The "Ahhhh" at 6:26 that didn't get away from you left is, for me, one of the most interesting swings you made. The TSR3 still maintains forgiveness at your player loft (disclaimer your player swing). I just love your content. Your exceptional knowledge gives you this expert access but it's all delivered with amazing accessibility with absolute "we're not worthy" levels of fandom. Thanks guys, excellent content as always.
Time Index (12:08) "If we're playing for money today, I'm putting you in this" - the difference between real golf and range/practice golf. Awesome video - the 45" gamer
I was just giddy with excitement watching this video...at the onset it was rife with potential, and got better and better as the fitting progressed. When your fitter starts calling your outputs "BBs", you know you are in a great spot! Well done JJ and Ian and Titleist!!
Don’t sleep on TSR4 in the “3.5” setting 👀. Hit them all today and went in excited for the 2 after all the reviews. Played the TSi3 a bit last year but it wasn’t quite right and I’m getting old and losing speed. Ended up in the 4 with the back CG setup shockingly and I gained 5 mph ball speed & 10-15 yards of carry against my gamer and against the the 2 & 3. Most wow factor for me though was the spin dispersion. Didn’t matter where I hit it on the face, it stayed between 2100-2500 RPMs. The 2 & 3 for me would range from 1800-3500. Apparently that’s why you get fit 🤷♂️😂
Really enjoyed that Ian. Much prefer your swing when your not chasing speed! Id love when it comes to TXG reviewing these guys to talk a little bit more on how the surefit performance guide and track work.
Nice fitting Ian... I've been playing Tsi3 for a year now and loving it. I have your same speed and similar launch parameters as you. Would love to see you hit and compare TSi3 vs TSr3. Congrats on the growth of the channel and the brand👏
You know your tech knowledge is on a whole different level when Ian asks what the shaft profile difference is, they make a hand gesture and they BOTH are on the same page 😂 Love this video and these new TSRs. Definitely excited to go hit them!
That’s the definition of range cool right there. Just the flow of conversation and knowledge and the dialing in of performance was just incredible to watch. I love that every click and change had a purpose either to rule something out or bring new ideas to light. Awesome job. One of the best videos I’ve seen and that’s high praise because there are so many great ones. Cheers 🍻
Absolutely class, This is one of the best videos you guys have ever put out imo. Experts in the craft of fitting finding perfection for Ian’s swing. I’m in the market for my first “fitted driver” just waiting for all the new product to release but this just shows why going to see the experts is so important. Well done guys! Cant wait for more content 👏🏼
What’s the ideal launch? I notice a few of these you say you like the window and the shape etc but it’s launching around 10.5-11ish. I’m around that and was thinking it was too low
You boys have me excited about the release for sure. One thing I’m curious to know however, what player better suits a Stealth Plus with the movable weight in the front vs the TSR with the weight adjustment in the back ?
Hey guys, I've been playing the tsi3 all year, played the ts2 last year. Was wondering about your moveable cg comments on the tsr3 during the fitting, I always thought that sliding weight was used heel side for guys that wanted help hitting a draw like me and toe side for guys that preferred some help hitting a fade but in the video in sounded to me like you guys were trying to line that weight up with where you strike the ball most so that the mass was behind your most common strike zone on the face. Can you elaborate and set me straight!
Using trackman nunbers and it sounded like they said they were hitting into the wind. Did seem like his ball speed was a little low from his usual low 160s though.
So Ian in the end which are you leaning towards....given more windy conditions vs those days that the weather is more accommodating? Will it be the T1, T4 or the T3 and making adjustments as they day calls for it? Which shaft felt the most manageable? Hence T3 8 degree @ D1 /w 45" +2G KAI White...or was it the T4 8 degree @ D1 T1 /w 45 +6G KAI White? From what I took from the fitting the T3 gave you more hight a bit more ball speeds vs the T4 ....all being equal. The question is which will give you the more controlled cut....hmmmmm
Can you do a break down of the fitting videos to to explain the the lingo and objectives that are trying to be achieved and why you are trying to achieve those objectives? Love the technical talk but just explain what and why it is being said during the process
Awesome video, its like me and my sniper instructor buddies talking about ballistic coefficients and minutes of angle, and muzzle velocity. hahaha, I geek out of the science of ball flight and golf equipment.
The knowledge and expertise on display by both Ian and Titleist were very impressive. Unfortunately so much of went right over my head. Two highly qualified fitting technicians talking is fascinating. But perhaps not something a mid teens handicapper can relate to. If you have not already done it a review of all three new versions but aimed at the layman would be very useful.
Ah the great illusion of new driver release: get fit! Ian could get this same Titleist fitting with TS3 from 2018, achieve the same numbers, and nobody would know
Selfishly I’m dying to see these heads against TSi3 but also against something older like 913D3. Been playing that head forever and have to imagine I’m sacrificing 10-20 yards 😂😂
I had to watch Ian’s fitting session twice. It was not only incredibly informative but an absolute stripe show with the new TSRs. Well done. I’m have gamed the TS and TSi3 models over the past couple of years. The TSi3 is the best driver I have hit. Not only is it a speed beast but incredibly stable. I am a higher swing speed player (avg 124 mph / mid 180s ball speed) so I am excited to see the nuances the TSR3 offers. I just nabbed mine yesterday. 💪💪💪👍👍👍🙌💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥
ian u are tsr 3 8 degree u are def not a stiff tip guy maybe ventus red 6x its kinda expensive but you should try seven dreamers shaft its a perfect shaft for 105 - 110 swing speed players buts its really hard to find really stable for good tempo players that are strong that likes to put torque into the shaft
I love the look of the new drivers but I have never been a fan of the Tesnsei shafts: they are terrible. When he switched to the Ventus, boom. A big difference. The shaft makes the drivers. I put a Ventus blue in my 2017 M1 and it is as long as any new driver today. New technology is improving but not at the expense of almost $1,000 after getting a shaft upgrade. Is 5 yds worth that much. NOOOOOOO.
Man I need to win some book money so I can get myself upgraded from TS3 to TSR3. Or Titleist can just send one and I’ll give a great review from a average Club Champion golfers perspective. Maybe get me to State championship status LOL entering USOPEN Qualifying next year too.
I would have never thought I had any business hitting the 4 and I ended up with it in the rear CG setting they refer to as the “3.5” in my fit. The spin dispersion on it was so tight. I think the secret sauce there is the front/ back weight adjustment, which shockingly this is the first time a Titleist driver has ever had that 🤯
Sub 160 mph ball speed and total distance less than 300 is underwhelming for Ian. Just check out previous videos where he’s hitting other drivers. A quality club but certainly not worth $600.
For whatever reason I just couldn’t get my timing the day we filmed this, so I reverted to swinging smoother than I would in the bay. I just tried to give JJ something to work with. Since getting the driver back to the studio I’d say carry is comfortably back up at 290 rolling out to 315ish. It’s a very very good driver, I’d be pretty shocked if there’s another driver line that outperforms these over the next year or so.
I don't know why Titleist ever does a new driver. They all look the same release over release, color, shape, finish. Pete Finch did a comparison of the last 3 models and the data showed that they are near identical, Speed, Spin, launch, and distance and forgiveness. If you bought either of the last two models, there really is no reason other than, eye candy for your own want, to actually upgrade to this one.
I dont think any real room for improvement is there. just marketing difference. It is the indian not the arrow. and most modern driver heads are already good enough. we just have to find optimized spin and launch head for our own swing. unless I am sponsored by Titleist there is no reason for replacement.
@@murraydmark titleist does not lead in quality. They make minute changes claiming vast improvements only to be disproven year over year. Nothing titleist does is evolutionary, only imaginary.

why is your carry so much lower on all of your clubs compared to in the studio when your in the hitting bay only using quad? I mean all your speeds seem down also which I understand quad runs about 4 mph faster than trackman because of how it reads club mph... but you seem to be swinging just as hard as you usually do and the balls going nowhere especially with the fairway wood fitting
For one, this data isn’t normalized. Could be some wind, could be only 70 degrees. Plus he’s not full ripping at it because he’s trying to hit a fairway, not smash it on a screen. His CHS in this video is 109-111. If you watch other videos he’s swinging faster at 114-115 inside
Love the high-level technical knowledge in this video. You just don’t see that in any driver fitting ever! Also Ian is crushing it on his drives.😮
Yeah bro was on autopilot. He’s swinging it really well
That was pure gold. Seems the fitting went well because Ian knows what shot shape he wants and in what conditions. That may be the key when getting fitted. Carrys the ball 300 yrds on the indoor sim now only carries the ball 270 yrds outside ? This an altitude thing ?
Outside is what matters! He is also hitting into the wind I believe, averaging around 157 ball speed and with a real tee on grass.
Yeah, fairly underwhelming results in my opinion.
