- Forbes questions Barnabas about the upcoming marriage to Angelique. Angelique insists that they marry that night. When Barnabas tells Joshua, Joshua tells Barnabas that he is no longer his son and that he will not inherit any of the Collins money.
To call this a "soap" is such an injustice....This is Theater with a capital T. The sets the acting....wonderful.

Poor Barnabas. He'll have to get a regular job to support Angelique since his father has disowned him. Doesn't matter if he is 25 or 40 Joshua will always be master over his children.

Angelique wants Barnabas,and she wants to be the grand lady of Collingwood.

Who is Joshua going to leave the family business to, now that he's disinherited Barnabas? Jeremiah is dead, and Daniel is still only a child, too young to make any kind of business decisions.
And in those days, women had absolutely NO say in the running of a family enterprise, so Naomi and Abigail would have been out of the question.
Joshua made this decision out of pure spite and not out of any business sense. Very poor judgment, if you ask me.
