Brand new AC hoses and fittings, somethings wrong with these new fittings in manufacturing.

  • I will end up having to perform a unrecommended backyard hack to take up the clearance space from the face of the 45° angle fittings sealing surface .
Clearances are not correct on this fitting during manufacturing

A product called Leak-Loc is great for flare sealing . Works like Lok-tite but made for refrigeration industry . Sealing flare washers are used in auto brakes and hydraulics as well . Re The fittings need to match metric or AF for service ports , never assume anything !!. Good practice is to dummy fit hoses so issues show up' early .

@@paulthompson1654 the clock is the worst thing possible to use on AC fittings.
Majority of guys get it on the inside too as they squish it together, some squishes in words into the refrigerator flow blocking expansion valves .
A fitting in the flares are done correctly. Nothing is needed but oil. .
      No solid dry adhesive.
Leak has caused more damage to systems than probably any other known product to mankind .
Leak lock is OK for a system with water in it or glycol, but not refrigeration system

when replacing automotive AC O-rings, do you see any benefit in soaking the O-rings in the appropriate Pag oil for a few hours, or is it adequate to just get them covered in oil just before assembly to prevent damage?
    Thanks

@@coldfinger459sub0 some have taught me from years past use the refrigerant oil and some say never. the ones that said never i lean towards cause the oil absorbs moisture and may cause fitting issues is what they believed from the moisture. can not prove any of this but i just use the dielectric just in case. i have never been able to prove either. i know i have tried to take some fittings loose and they have not been so easy and some the threads mauled themselves when trying to separate them. still thats not proof but i feel comfortable using dielectric or now nylog from ur suggestion. they have changed my utube handle.

@@RATCHETMAN1001 fittings, especially when two different metals aluminum on steel. Or aluminum is anodized and one aluminum is not anodized..
If you got moisture in those fittings, I’m sure you experienced where it rips out the threads.
This is why the metals should be the same .
My father has been using Vaseline and dielectric grease since the 1950s
I was taught by my father and started using silicon grease since the late 1970s .
My son has been using silicone grease since the 2000s .
      It works .

Not just this but aluminum and copper being being dissimilar will corrode. Looks like incorrect fittings, from here.

@@thisisyourcaptainspeaking2259 yes they are the incorrect fittings. 👍 you are 100% correct.
Due to the economic times in the last two decades, businesses have been cutting down on part numbers and inventory .
And because aluminum fittings are cheaper . Supply warehouses and air-conditioning radiator shops stopped carrying the steel fittings. And use aluminum for everything..
Like you mentioned aluminum and steel aluminum and copper corroded
And high vibrations, like movers off road heavy trucks with vibrating diesels, the fittings crack when there are aluminum .
