For my personal deck building i think the one ring is broken in jodah deck the bridge is crazy when you get it "early" but i agree with you exept that frodons sauron bane is now a thing (gota play the thempting cards tho) but if i remember correctly you can otk from nower with trample and hast
I recently used jodah to recreate one of my favorite decks i had years ago, the premise being to run a haphazard ball of buildaround commander type legends that enable themselves and just flood the board with strong but not necessarily synergized effects. Its not super op but its very fun to play
I latched onto Jodah to recreate an older deck myself actually 😂 I used to have a "Commander Hall of Fame" deck led by Sisay the Weatherlight Captain, but for a number of reasons it wasn't really what I wanted, but Jodah filled that role spectacularly.
I'm not for the build philosophy here. I spread out the levels in my Jodah deck but I only have two 2 cost targets and the majority of the targets are 3 and 4 cost so I can cast a 3 cost creature to guarantee a Valki or Hajar while casting a 4 cost creature still basically guarantees a 3 cost creature from the cascade. I have a few 5, 6, and 7 cost creatures too but most of them either have ETBs or haste to get immediate value. I find I get at least one cascade from something over 5 cost early and then I rely on cascading from 4 cost creatures after commander tax makes playing Jodah a tactical decision in the later game. The deck has more ramp and mana rocks than any other deck I own.
I eventually did a few similar things, so this deck could probably do with an update, but I'll try to bulletpoint: - The biggest difference between our builds is that *I don't pay command tax.* For his past 12 games, I cast him once on Turn 4 and he sticks. Primarily because... - There is now a single 2-cost legend in the deck. By making her the *only* 2-cost legend in the deck, Jirina, Dauntless General is laughably easy to tutor into play alongside Jodah to guarantee the board sticks around for longer- even if it only protects Jodah, which is unlikely, that's still a great effect that can be recurred with a number of other legends in the deck (consider how Gwenna untaps with two extra mana after casting Jodah. With one more mana you get + 2 legends down with protection- imo that beats Valki or some other 5-drop the next turn every day). No matter how much value getting the back side of Valki is, it's worth noting that that's still not a Legendary Creature, which is where your commander is always going to be the most relevant. Gaining card advantage via exile doesn't help enable us to cascade either, since Jodah only cares about Legends cast from your hand. Getting to sneakily get the back side feels good, but it doesn't really comport well with anything Jodah is doing...so I think I stand by that decision. Card advantage needs to put cards in your hand here, not in exile, and your legends still need to be creatures more than anything else. Valki is value, but value isn't victory: damage is. We get more damage from legendary creatures. - Ramp is still extremely important no matter what, as is getting immediate value from haste and ETBs 🥳 And ultimately, Jodah is still so good that these kinds of differences amount to very small differences in what is still an overwhelming wave of value. But for the sake of extracting maximum value, consider this: *Jodah cares more about how many legends you have than he cares what their mana costs are.* The lower to the ground you can make your legend curve, the easier it is to throw out more legends, pulling off feats such as 40 Trample damage turn 5 as I did in my most recent game with it. Having a Legend that costs 8 means you're getting half as many legends with your mana as you would with two 4-cost legends, each of them guaranteed to get max cascade value. Every way that you read Jodah's textbox, that's always going to be better than a single 6, 7, or 8 drop with variable cascade value. - That said, I do have one legend that doesn't fit that mana value heuristic. I did slot in a Great Henge, which neither costs 4 nor is a creature, but notice that you'd never really be paying more than 2 for that Henge. It immediately recoups its costs in mana, and since it's Legendary and I'm cascading *from* it and never *into* it, it replaces itself with cards *as well as mana* with the Legendary Creature it likely grabs and refills your hand each time you cast a Legend. That's really the only kind of exception to the mana value hueristic that could be justified here. I don't see any other legends with that kind of synergy. That said though, the "3 and 4 drops only" really is just a hueristic. Not a hard and fast rule. The deck still does best when its mana values are in small clusters (I think the highest I'd ever justify is 5), but as more and more legends are printed, it seems unlikely that we won't see more effects like Urza's Ruinous Blast or other worthwhile effects that deviate from that hueristic.
Great deck, this build is super respected in my lgs. I will support you on patreon whenever possible :). If I can ask, is it possible to in the future you could update this list with new legends?, due to the fact that so many legends get released every year, I would love for you to reevaluate the deck. Thanks!
For some reason I didn't get a notification about this comment- sorry for the delay 😅 I've got a version of the deck I play myself that's even more refined too, and every so often I update the other two lists with the major (affordable) changes. The secret sauce is Human Kindred 😎 Thanks for watching!
😂 it's actually even worse than that. The price in the decklist are from TCGplayer, the price at the end of the video is from Card Kingdom, so it's more like $180 is nonbudget
thank you for sharing your thought process on making decks. It has helped me better understand and sharpen my decision-making skills.
Decklist still being updated, still a masterclass in deckbuilding

Wtf is bro trying to say? 💀
I went full anthem effects. Some of them did end up in your list, too!

Great content. Very thorough and straightforward/ to the point. I’d say invest in a better mic to take it to the next level!
I really dig the creature-enchantment shrine cards from kamigawa neon dinasty for this deck. Pretty cheap option too.
that would be cool! I have a Shentai dock aswell.. Thinking of merge them

@@aegisgamingofficial2178 are you able to share the updated list?
@minicow1 After MH3 is fully spoiled I'll re-update it (the link to the list is the same)
People who apply game theory to their deck building are always so scary
Non budget is $430? I guess I’m out of control.

I gotta try that pentad prism!
It's easily my favorite rock. It does so much for so little.
The link for the budget list is not working :(
It should be fixed- try it now!
