I was getting a little overwhelmed because errors were keep on showing up when I tried to purchase through click-n-ship. And thanks to your quick step by step guide, I am relieved😘 Also the quality of your video looks very professional! Hope I become like you someday🥰
I take mine in, but yes I think you technically can do that but only if they are less than 13oz. They don’t love it when you drop larger packages in there!
But!...But!...But!....How do you pay for the shipping?! Do you pay at the post office? Do you have an online account that is connected to a debit card?? You said you click "purchase" sooo....Is the shipping already paid for and you just drop the packages off at the post office??? HELP ME!!! 😱
How should I know what type of shipping to offer? Such as First Class Mail vs. Priority, etc...? By default all of them are selected but doesn't it go by weight?
This video has been so helpful thank you! However, is there a way I can get the shipping label printed when I get up to the post office? I don't have access to a printer
Does Etsy give the option to download the shipping label as a PDF file that you can then take to Fedex Office to print using their Print & Go self-service? Or must you have your own printer?
Hey friend! Thank you so much for this video! I think I almost understand everything! One thing I’m still fuzzy on though- is how much to charge for shipping when I list my product on Etsy. I hope that makes sense! I know I won’t know the official shipping price until I go into Etsy and make the shipping label like you just showed, but how do I know how much to charge initially- like the price they see when checking out?
are you using calculated or fixed price shipping profiles? if calculated, etsy will do it for you! if fixed, you’ll have to take the average cost for different areas within the country (assuming you are a untied states seller!)
Hello, thank you for the content. I’m only guessing that a person who is interested in purchasing will see a shipping quote that is auto generated by location and if so does this mean you’ve already setup the shipping cost (weight and size) of the package?
Thanks for sharing this video. It did take a bit of the overwhelm away when it comes to shipping. I will be using a small semi custom mailer box to ship my orders. I’m just starting out and not able to invest in sticker labels and a label printer. Could I just print on regular printer paper and resize the shipping info to fit the scale of the box and put it inside a small self adhesive label holder?
Thank you so much! I had a question, where do you print out your labels? Will a normal printer print those out, or is there somewhere you go, or something you have to buy?
As a new designer to the sticker world and never used esty. How many stickers or items should you start out with at first? Just bought a silhouette custom 4 and epson ecotank 2850.
Congrats! This is a question that gets talked about all the time... I would try and list as many as you can! I don't think there is a magic number that equates to 6 figure years or something like that! You can't have too many listings, so just list as many as feels right for you!
A UPS store is down the street from my house, if Etsy uses USPS will UPS take the package with the prepaid shipping label? Also if you offer free shipping on your orders from your Etsy shop do you have to pay for the shipping label from Etsy? Thank you so much Andrea! I will be starting my own jewelry Etsy business next week
yay congrats! i’m excited for you! :) so i do not think UPS would take the packages just cuz they are entirely separate businesses. it would be kind of like trying to return something to target with a walmart receipt! you should be able to schedule a porch pickup with USPS, if you will be based out of your home. and no, etsy does not pay for the label, but it does come off your etsy bill! i build the shipping cost into my product cost on etsy! hope that helps. :)
What if I want to ship through something like GoShippo or PirateShip? What do I enter in the shipping services option on Etsy when I’m making a listing?
i’ve never done that so i’m not entirely sure, but i would think calculated would still work! it should be a really similar rate. then you would just connect your shop to your shipping account and print from there instead!
Hi - I really enjoyed the video. I am freaked out by shipping, (no doubt). But I'm using Etsy to calculate the price, adding in dimensions and weight. This is my issue: I want to sell Easter eggs. I want to sell them individually or in a set and will list them that way. But if someone would like to purchase 10 eggs instead of one, I don't want to have my shipping charge for the price of one egg, I want to make sure the weight is calculated properly for 10 eggs. I see on other sites many sellers offer options - purchase(s) 1,2,3,4,5 etc. How can I set up shipping of multiply items and make sure I'm covered? Thank you!!
so the short answer is that you can’t do it automatically, if you want to use variations. (someone can add multiple to their cart and it will calculate close to correct.) i would first make sure what the difference in postage would be. if it’s close, you could just choose the higher one and not worry about it. if it’s not close, choose the lower and edit the weight when you are printing labels! i do this for one of my listings… if isn’t nearly as cumbersome as it sounds. promise!
thank you so much for this video you made me feel better about shipment and packing! but I have a question please, are you printing a label to send the package first to etsy and they are going to send it to the customer or are you sending it directly to your customer?
I am sorry , but what I want to know and don’t understand is how we deliver it . with USPS ? how they get my products from me ? and how can I know the cost for all counties
for the item size, are we measuring the item including the mailer? or just the item itself without the envelope mailer? i'm going to sell jewelry so I have a smaller box i'm putting the jewelry in, so would i just measure the dimensions of that small box? and as for weight: it's everything including the mailer correct?
Does the shipping price change for each state or country? and how do you charge the customer the shipping? sorry I'm all over the place rn I'm so close to getting all my research done before I get the wheels going and pricing my item and calculating shipping costs + taxes and stuff is the hardest part for me :(
definitely don’t overthink it! i find that shipping stuff makes a lot more sense once you actually start sending stuff out. don’t try to figure it all out before you start. as for rates - it totally depends. the rate varies by state for USPS priority, but a lot less for USPS first class. It varies drastically by country, which is why i do not recommend free international shipping. Etsy will charge you or your buyer (depending on whether or not you offer free shipping) the correct amount!
Etsy charges the seller when the label is purchased. You get to choose whether or not you want to charge the buyer when they buy from your shop! (Hope that makes sense!)
@@Oursweetsunnydays yes it does, I do have another question, I have a item that will allow for returns with a restock fee, but I do plan on making a 2nd product avaible based on if the first product is sucessful. the 2nd product I would want a all sales final, will Etsy let me do a combonation of return allowed and all sales final items?
I have a question: do you still need to enroll with a shipping compagny to ship your parcel? I guess you can’t just drop your boxes at your local post office…? But will it be their prices or Etsy price? Dumb question i know, sorry 😅
not dumb! shipping is confusing in the beginning. 🤪 as far as i know, you don’t need a usps account. the easiest thing to do is print labels through etsy, package your items up, and then bring the (already paid for) packages to the post office and drop them off! (this also all assumes you are in the united states - i’m not familiar with other postal systems.)
New sub!! how do you place a po box address so i don't use my address when shipping on etsy. I just opened my etsy account and it did ask for my personal for of course tax purposes. I get that, but when i print my shipping labels i don't want to show my personal address.
When I get shipping labels, can I just write down the address by hand? I can't afford a printer for the labels. :, ) Btw how do you ship paper mache statues? I use a big box and a lot of bubble wrap and packing paper right?
yes you can hand write addresses, but i recommend saving up for a cheap printer asap! the retail rate of postage is quite a bit higher than etsys rate! and i’d think that packaging would work! :)
You cam find printers for like $40 bucks. You can even buy used. My first printer was $30 bucks at a pawn shop. It lasted me 6 years! And I'm now only using a $50 printer ..I do what a laser printer but I have insta ink with my desk top printer.
I’m going to be printing my own labels soon. I do have a question that has come up a few times. If a customer buys from you twice on the same day can you ship them together or do they have to be separate? This has happened 3 times now. I sent them separately but this customer requested I send them together. I’m just not sure if Etsy will allow me to put the same tracking number on two orders??
we usually ship them together (just make sure they are going to the same address)! yes you can mark the other order as complete and copy/paste in the same tracking number! :)
I have a product that with the package weighs 2oz since it's the same shipping rate for 4oz can I just leave it at 4oz my concern is when a customer buys 5 units would Esty charge the customer 1lb and 4oz when its actually 10oz also how does flat-rate work lets say I have a 1oz product with packaging and someone buys 12 units I set a flat rate at $3.00 does that mean instead of customer paying 12oz which is at $4.98 from LA to NY they would only pay $3
Okay, yes. So if you set it to 4oz, Etsy will auto-calculate it if your customer orders more than one. In that scenario, if it’s far off, I’d go adjust it. For the flat rate, you can set a price for if the item is bought with another item. So say you list it for $3 and $1 if bought with another item. If they bought 2, it would charge $4. Make sense?
yes! it’s a funky work around. mark the order as complete, choose other as the shipping carrier, then i literally type “localpickup” for the tracking. that always works for me!
If you pay for the shipping label on esty and after packaging your orders if you bring your orders to your local post office do you have to pay them to send it off? This is the only thing that's dreading me from starting my resin dominos and keyrings business 😅💗🤗
oh no! do not get overwhelmed by shipping! i can’t emphasize enough how truly simple it is. a united states post office will accept your packages for free - no extra fee, as long as you already have the label from etsy! best of luck :)
