Hey Tim, I started in September of 2020. It took me 6 weeks to get a sale. I was on social media and advertising myself and rebuild my UA-cam channel. Finally the Etsy shop is doing okay now and I am at 435 sales now. I think the more review and the more sale you get the sale is more automated. I don’t even do ads and I get at least one-two sale a day. Some of the sales also come from my subscribers who really help me and help my Etsy shop to take off. So I love UA-cam and Etsy both because the community is very supportive.

I saw your last video on digital downloads. In a graphic designer and I figured why not build my store around that. So I'm knocking out 3 - 4 designs for digital downloads a day. Been a week now got my first sale 5minutes after listing. Today is my biggest day I'm at 20 sells for today. 40 total . Going to stick with it I need about 300 designs up by July is my goal. UPDATE.
One review 5 stars will do some extra to get more reviews as you said . Today was my best selling day I figure I average 25 dollars a day with just starting that almost 10k for the year . Havent even listed other items yet that will push my sales lining it all up but I say ima make 50,000 this year on my etsy store setting my bar and stepping to accomplish my goal. Keep yall posted . Anyone need graphic work got any ideas for your store I'm plugging designs for your store just tap in let's all get this MONEY help those around and far away its plenty room . Update! 3 months later im at over a 1000 sales. Some slow days no sales but sticking with it and looking for other niches to attack amd just stay focused getting new listings up at least 1 a day.

My first few sales were friends and family too and from there “real” customers came in. I hit 31 sales today! I know that’s not much compared to you and I could probably have more if I listed more and marketed better, but I have plans to get that ball rolling for the new year!

Clear, concise, helpful information. You offer a lot of practical suggestions we can put into action. One very slight correction: In your piece on packaging presentation, you showed a USPS package tied with string. The post office hates and may reject packages tied with string because it can get caught and jam up the sorting equipment. Other than that, really nice job.

Thank you for your encouragement, I have high expectations for everything I do and am usually disappointed when things don't happen as fast as I expect them to. Logically I know that's the way things typically work, but it still sucks. I just opened my store this month and haven't made any sales yet, but I will journey on.
I really like that you speak about expected results and results you’ll actually receive within a timeframe and how those results relate to the amount of work put in. I am in this Facebook Etsy support group and the thing that I notice the most is a need for instant gratification and sales. Most of them have only been in business for a couple of weeks when asking the question about why they have no sales yet. It doesn’t work this way, but I always encourage others to stay positive otherwise. Thank you for this video!

Very helpful. I worked like mad for six months making books for Amazon KDP. I burned out and just stopped being motivated to make them but now a year on, the algorithms have found some of my books and I make a few sales every month. It has taught me that these things do work but the valley of disappointment is very real.

When I finally quit my job and started truly putting my all into Etsy in 2020, I reached my first 50 sales within like 3 weeks-ish. It was around Black Friday, and everyone was Christmas shopping, so I sold a good amount. The next 50 sales though took me almost a year. Let me explain. So, I sell children's clothing like birthday shirts, holiday outfits, and just everyday wear too. But for birthdays and holidays the best-selling items are copyrighted cartoons, etc. I decided right after that successful Christmas season it wasn't worth the risk to keep up all those items up and either get banned from Etsy or get a lawsuit, so I literally took more than half my shop down. Less listings equals less traffic opportunities. Now I'm finally at 100 listings again and my shop has been doing much better. Still a work in progress but I'm grateful for the little victories. Also, while my Etsy was slow last summer, I opened a second business selling fabric and I keep pretty busy making it hard to add more listings but I'm definitely working on making that a priority. Thanks for the video and sorry for the super long rant just wanted everyone to know it takes time but if you put the work in, things will start to fall into place.
How do u sell fabric? That's cool!!! Do u make it urself?
@@RenaGoss hey so no I wish I could print in house but I don’t have the space for such huge machines nor the money to invest in them yet. The entry level one is like $30k. I send my prints to a manufacturer and they send me the fabric with my custom prints on it. Then I put it on my website. 😊

When I used to cut hair, my first client was a very very very picky guy that would use a ruler to measure the angles. 😅🤣 Luckily he loved it and after that he started coming to me for the hair cut!
My point being is: the way you interact with your potential customers also helps because its the way you give your attention to them. Nowadays the small details is what counts and making customers feel comfortable.
Usually I am the type of person that goes back to a business is the way they communicate with me.
