Some of those horn players are Prince alums, so you know they're bringing the funk. They play regularly with Cory - (who's from Minneapolis as well) - in his band Cory & The Wong Notes. But he's probably most known for being part of the insanely great Vulfpeck. To really hear the horn section shine in this collab, check out their cover of Thriller - they take a funky 4/4 banger and squeeze it into 12/8 time. And the horn section is worth the price of admission alone.
This is a Saturday date-night sound with a big dance floor! Wow…great vocals!! Everything I’m hearing is so intentional from the drums to the bass to the brass and woodwinds and keys!!! I could listen to this all day. What a great request today, Mellie. I’m definitely loopified!!! What a fantastic reaction and all the instructions about where to place mics. So exciting!!!!! Catch you tomorrow afternoon 🎶 Cyd
Thanks to Melli for the great request! Already added the whole album to my collection (because unlike J & J, I don't have to wait!). Looking forward to more stank face soon! ❤🎶
Fun fact. Cory wong and Dirty loops did a whole album during covid, they never met personally during the making of the album. During this video they are not in the same room. Dirty loops are in Sweden while Cory wong and the guys are in the U.S. They just got the same kind of background and edited it.
I think Aron the drummer does the editing stuff on the videos...Fantastic band signed with the one & only David "The Hitmaker" Foster...Makes me proud being a Swede...❤
Thanks for another DLoops reaction, guys! It’s all been said here, but yeah, Cory and his horns recorded and filmed all their bits in the US, Minneapolis, whilst DLoops did their thing in Sweden. They bought identical props (carpet, lighting, etc), set up identical camera and lighting angles, and later Aron edited the visuals together. Also his playing on this track 🔥🔥🔥 The intro to this track is taken from Baywatch, hence Pamela Anderson making an appearance later on in the credits ;) Cory and Henrik have a lil talk about the making of this album on Cory’s Wong Notes Podcast, and it’s as much fun as it is informative. Just to add a bit to what’s been said about his horns here: Some of them are members of the Horn Heads, a legendary group of session horn players who toured and recorded with Prince and many other Greats. Dive into the rest of this album, and you’ll discover some genius horn playing. As well as more solos by Henrik ;) He’s a beast on bass… But so is Aron on drums -check out some of his fills here on this track 😱 “Thriller”, “Turbo” and “Ring of Saturn” are three more tunes from this album who come with a video. The rest is audio only. Still, mindblowing, all of it. And thanks to Millie again for the support 🙏 It’s such a pleasure to listen to Dirty Loops again through your ears and appreciation, almost as if for the first time ☺️✌️👍🤘👌 Looking forward to the rest!
LOVE your enthusiasm for these amazing musicians and instrumentalists! EVERY time they blow my mind. I recently stumbled across their piece called "Turbo." I hope your rabbit hole journey takes you there soon. I think it's the most complex and intricate piece I've heard from them thus far. ANYTHING you listen to by them will be outstanding!
Yes! I love DL! Henrik is a special one, but I think "you all" forget Aron alot... He is soo underrated as a drummer and rarely get's the credit he deserves. Just listen to the groove in this song and what he does on the drums. It's so easy to get lost in the glammer of Henrik and Jonah, but they both need the foundation of Arons drums to lean on so... To me Aron is a badass drummer! Be safe
Okay, for the best musicians I have a favorite reactor and you guys just took my Dirty Loops reactor, had to subscribe. Love you two, can't to wait for more and too saxy was great. Going to check out your other reactions. Honestly, fantastic reaction. And I prepared to be a Fruit Loop.
the intro-outro definitely inspired by the Baywatch theme and the first two lines of the themesong are "Some people stand in the darkness Afraid to step into the light" - so another reference there. My favourite DL song, is JUST SO FUN-KY
You're just getting started. Be prepared for jaw dropping music. Check out their 3 piece "coffee break is over"! Keys, bass, and drums - no vocals. It's killer.
So glad to catch you at the beginning of your Dirty Loops journey! Here are my suggestions: - Hit Me - Next to You - Breakdown - Over the Horizon (they wrote this off the 5-note Galaxy phone ringtone and it’s SICK) - Ta Fete - Baby (Justin Bieber cover!) - The Way She Walks …and Jonah Nilsson’s solo stuff: - Diamond Ring (featuring Steve Vai) - Coffee Break (featuring Richard Bona) - Bad They are super-musicians on a different level!!!
You'll probably get a bunch of recommendations for more Dirty Loops, and they are amazing! But let me just be the one saying you reeeeeally should also check out Cory Wong! Pure concentrated funk with and INCREDIBLE horn section and a creative and suuuper groovy drummer. (actually everyone in that band Is amazing!) I would recommend their recent video: "Flamingo" // Live in London . or for something unusual but super fun I'd watch: Tiny Instruments "Pebbles" and "Bluebird" (feat. Sierra Hull) . That one in particular would be fun for Matt to see (don't wanna spoil it but the title of that one might give you a hint.)
Hello, oh what a nice reaction :-) you know Dirty Loops must be from another planet considering their musicality and innovation in the music I think you would be blown a way if you do a reaction on Next to you absolutely incredible and.... yes they can play everything live, try to buy tickets and you will understand what I mean. Hugs from Gotehnburg Sweden //Johnny
Guys, if you haven't done Snarky Puppy's "Lingus" (the "We Like It Here" live recording), you NEED to do it. I guarantee it will blow your fucking minds!
The phrase at the end of the bass solo is actually a typical Jazz phrase, but the way they put it in and the accuracy they perform it with - WOW!! Here it is written out for the drums: ua-cam.com/video/DlpNvf8WrhM/v-deo.html

Hahaha, no, there's no official name for Dirty Loops fans, as far as I know. The reason people say someone gets loopified when becoming a fan, is partly because the name of their first album is "Loopified", and "loopifying" is also the term they themselves use jokingly to describe their process of creating music, which is to take or write a rather simple pop melody and then write an insanely complex arrangement for it in their own very special way. 😁
I had the opportunity to work with Cory with the band Hit Machine (Portland Or) on the song “You with Me”. Check it out, it’s all Cory. He tracked his guitars in Minneapolis
And yes they are from Stockholm just btw Cory Wong & his people weren't even in the same room they were on opposite sides of the world,it was all synched up.
That's called bass face dude. I played a Marriott Hotel gig once in Worcester Mass and Gordan Lightfoot was in the the room. When we had finished the set, with a Mothers Finest tune, I think it was Rain, but it might have been something else, anyway, Gordan came up to me and called me bass face and shook my hand. lol, he was a little drunk, but he was nice.
This recording is done in 2 different locations and mix together during high travel restrictions when the covid pandemic was goin on. Dont be so busy about background settings! Mostly this outcome is becausse Quincy Jones was involved in to get this so perfect.
I dont know if its been suggested , The band: Vulfpeck Song:Cory Wong would be a great band and song for you to react to as thats one of the bands Cory wong is in. very funky, upbeat, fun and oozing with musical talent.
3:1 rule multiple microphones on the same sound source need to be three times the distance from each other than they are from the sound source. I love your reaction.
@@marienvanraan760 That I do not know and yes, I have seen them live and they are totally out of this world. But that was not the subject. Oh yeaaaah love this reminds me of the 1978 to 1984 era ! Being married & dancing with my Liza !!! May she rest in peace 😮💨
GREAT JOB MELLI! Thank you for bringing the joy of Dirty Loops to a new audience! 🥰
Gotta give Henrik the stank face! Highest compliment for a bass player 🤘🏼

The way she walks is a definite must :-).
Really enjoyed your reactions, guys! Thanks! Cheers to you!
Love your take on Dirty Loops and await more of your reactions to them - there´s a plenty to discover and enjoy - Thanks!

I love Dirty Loops but also love you guys. You're so funny and lovely. Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
Love your Dirty Loops reactions! And thanks for introducing 2SAXY - Grace Kelly is amazing so definitely going to check that out!

And Aron, the drummer, does all the video editing, I believe in every one of their videos.
Love these tasty tidbits, thank you BOTH!!! So impressive. We just LOVE the dynamic between each of the artists.

RIP Quincy Jones. You can really hear his influence in these songs. What a legend.
Aron actually uses that cymbal in Work Sh- out. Watch it during the drum solo 🙂
I'm so happy I'm not a reactor. I can go 'Fruit Looping' all day long 🤸🎵 🎶.
Glad I can follow your journey, though.
Thank you!

I couldn’t help it, so I watched again! I finally caught Grace’s look. Do they call it stank face?

Grace is playing a Alto sax, and the guy with the big sax (Leo) is playing a baritone :)
That opening keyboard riff is the sampled beginning to Baywatch.
Apart from being musically impeccable, this such a great tune! I always say that if this song doesn't put you in a good mood, you don't have a heart.
Also... In that clip of the saxes, she's playing an alto, and he's playing a baritone.
Please dont forget their older albums.
The stank face it's called is one of the greatest compliments you can give a musician. Ambassador Jenks
