27:01 I KNEW IT!!! I now have video proof after all these years I wasn't messing around with my friends that you see an upside down room in this vault! Though, Oxhorn doesn't mention it, it's right there plain as day. FYI if you even turn around without opening that door, it flips back right side up, you only ever get to see it once and I'm not sure it happens all the time.
Holy cow you're right! I missed it because the room corrected itself when we opened the door. But you're right--it is upside-down when we peer through the window.
I only ever caught it once on my very first play through when the game first came out. Told my friends about it and they swore they never saw an upside down room, I then started several new games and never saw it upside down again but still swore I saw a room that was upside down. Still remember it all these years cause it wasn't a blue scripted event and I flipped out the first time. Even panning the view off of that window makes the room correct itself. Most likely people don't initially catch it, or catch it out of the corner of their eye but by the time they stop and look, the room's already corrected itself. I bet it's an easter egg joke meant to get people to really think they're losing it inside that vault, very cleverly done.
Also, the vault suit is Blue, the color they are obsessed with.
Now when I did this vault I noticed that they specifically and deliberately made a male and womens wing. But whenever I have played this, there are no insane women. Whatever the drug did, it only effected the males.
Wait how many years have you been waiting for this moment
@Burk the Seagull
Too long... way too long :p Not like I actively sought it out since the initial few restarts to try and get it to show up again. Shrugged my shoulders and figured it was my imagination playing tricks on me. Would have been just peachy fine if I never found a video of it happening, but at the same time I'd have never discovered Oxhorn's channel for some great fallout lore either, which I think we can all agree would have been more of a travesty.
As nick valentine said, "more stairs? Who made this, a fitness instructor?"

Hell, they wouldn't have even needed whatever strange gas they're using to cause the hallucinations. The layout of the place alone would've been enough to drive _Me_ insane.
Me too XD
Yea the layout was funky. It made the water temple look like fucking cake
The way he's narrating this makes it sound like part of a dnd campaign.
I was thinking the same thing!!
I love how many massive "dungeons" there were in fallout 3, many times an entire session would take place in a single vault or building in that game.
Yes especially that vault with Fawkes in it!
Or that massive subway system.
ch282 no way. I’m playing through for the hundredth time with Fallout TTW and fallout 3 and all it’s dungeons are even better than I remember. It didn’t even need good graphics or enhanced combat like Fo4 has. Honestly they’re vastly superior in every way. And because Tale of Two wastelands exist, I can die happy knowing the best two fallout games which I only ever considered as one game since they’re so similar combine to make the best fallout game ever. Because at this rate Bethesda will never create another good fallout game. Especially considering Fo4 was a really poor step in the wrong direction, albeit I still really enjoy it and it’s one of my favorite games to this day. But the amount of content TTW opens up man is night and day.
@@Little_Milk120 ttw?
@@souqmadiq4835 Oh boy do I have great news for you. Google search Fallout Tale of Two Wastelands. The most amazing thing to exist and its free. It combines all of Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas into one game and yes that includes ALL dlc as well as allowing you to go between both Fallout 3's map and new vegas' map whenever you want, bring any weapons armor whenever you want, and companions as well. It's too much to explain here ,but trust me do some research on it and your life will change if you're a huge fallout nerd like me.
I think this quest would have been creepier if the hallucinations weren't accompanied by an obvious color filter to make clear it was fake. Likewise, including interactions that would be revealed to be hallucinations, and perhaps companions freaking out occasionally and shooting at objects lol
They could have had a lot of fun with this concept.
ValensBellator I initially thought the game or my TV was broken when the color filter changed

I love how you look at fallout. You look at it as a story filled world full of mystery and you role play through it. I look at it as “hey I wanna get really powerful no matter what happens and no one gets in my way good or bad and I will become a legend and I will be feared across the wasteland”.I’m basically a psychopath, even small insults can cause me to kill someone without remorse. Hell I never even gave the enclave the chance to explain their cause. They were screwed as soon as they let me loose inside their base. It’s fun but it gets old. I need to play this game like you do.
I catch myself being the same way with most RPG's, and I end up rushing through it just to get to the point where I can kill most enemies in one hit and feel like a god, but then once I get to that point it gets old fast and I start all over again with a different build.

Man this vault scared the SHIT out of me the first time lol! FO3 was my first experience in the Fallout series so I didn't know anything about the vault experiments. I played it right after release so the ending was still pre-DLC & there weren't any hints or guides online yet. I didn't spec into science so I missed most of the terminal notes, so you can imagine I was very freaked out by the hallucinations in this vault, thinking maybe they were ghosts or something. The ambient music, seeing your father, the terminal talking to you, plus I didn't have a companion so I was in there all alone, in the dark at like 2 in the morning after staying up playing all day long lol. It was spooky! My 2nd playthrough I finally payed attention to understanding the lore so I went through this vault again to solve the mystery, but it still gave me goosebumps!
Dude the first time I played through fallout 3 and encountered this vault I literally threw my controller lol. It was the same night I encountered a glitch in rivet city where an NPC's head rotated 360 degrees and scared the living day lights out of me lol. I had almost a similar experience. This was something else
Unfortunately my first fallout game was fallout 4, I stopped playing because the side quests were too repetitive and there’s basically no multiple choices like In other fallout games. I wanted to buy fallout new Vegas on the ps4 to actually feel like I was playing a fallout game but it wouldn’t let me. So I’m considering buying it for my Mac and then using parallel to play it

The sound of the Vault Door opening is always an iconic sound, it does it’s job by inspiring hope to find cool pre-War loot and gives you an eire/creepy sensation to found out what twisted experiment Vault-tec has done to folks, in this case the creep factor is VERY Justified.....That’s the draw to fallout, it’s two stories in one, sure it’s a post-apocalyptic wasteland but it’s also ruins of a past corrupt nation and the twisted things they did for financial gain and global power. Vault-Tec is a huge example of that.
Try I didn't like and I still don't like going into the vaults because it's so dark and I have no idea what's gonna happen. I don't have any companions so I was alone and scared
I think that if these survivors are raiders, mercs, or scavengers and why they are wearing vault suits is because the Psychotic drugs made them love the blue, being in the blue. Well, vault suits are blue right? And why not wear the blue?
They went absolutely mad and convinced themselves that they're the vault dwellers
I'm wondering if the survivor in the lab coat is related in some way to the surgeon in the red rider factory; it would explain the lab coat and maybe even the bent for experimentation
That was what I was thinking, maybe some mercs, raiders, scavengers (or anyone else for that matter) was thinking "that looks like a great place to find loot." or a place to stay when a radiation storm passes through (I know Fallout 3 doesn't have Radiation Storm's, but remember that there was limitations), inhaled the gas and become deranged residents until they died.

I never had this thought until fallout 4. If you find skeletons of dead vault dwellers. Where are their pip boys?
tcynight 01 Have Not played Fallout 3 yet :( But just a question: Are the other vaults in Fallout 3 have skeletons with their pip-boy on?
tcynight 01 Meant to say if corpses have pip boys on them as a design in the game?
I think it’s just a developer’s oversight.
Probably cut off and stolen
@@tcynight0198 actually, The Vault Tec Survival Guide states: "The pip boy 3000 can be taken off by any human. For safety, Only vault tec technicians are allowed to perform the task to prevent horrific skin destruction"

"Hello"
“We just got attacked by a survivor” if you replay that bit of clip the guy didn’t make a run to him and didn’t have a weapon out
“Shoot first, ask questions later”
Never thought a fallout quest guide could be even more immersive than playing the game itself😂. Can feel the emotion in your voice when you call “Dad?!?”
I have a theory regarding the skeletons in the collapsed cave. It's possible that the dwellers who tried to escape, did so successfully, and that the escapees were being pursued by the insane survivors and as they made their way through the cave they caused an explosion and collapsed the cave blocking off the insane survivors chasing them and the falling rocks crushed the insane survivors.
Also wastelanders couldn't have accessed the vault as the door was closed and raiders and scavangers don't have pip-boys so they wouldn't be able to open it.
The wastelander might have been a vault resident
This just brings more confusion, but an interesting thing to point out on both claims! It really does say insane survivors that it is too vague. But if the gas did want them to stay, maybe some wastelanders did want to stay and shut the vault. The only problem is the pip-boy... Really confusing. Send help!!!
Just one problem: if a falling rock landed on an insane survivor, it would crush it's bones. But that skeleton was in tact.
One thing I don't really get, how could the gas be running constantly for 200 years? They would have to have like a good Walmart sized warehouse full of nothing but canisters holding that gas to be able to continuously supply that much for that long. And if it was only intended to be run for 30 minutes at a time, why would Vault-Tec have that kind of quantity? Since this is an experimental (ie. not mass produced) gas, it is likely to be very expensive.
I guess maybe if the stuff is like super crazy potent, where you only need like micrograms for an effect, then I think maybe a couple trailer sized storage areas might fit it. Still doesn't explain why there was so much in the first place though.
It could be something like the gas does only run to keep a certain concentraition
So wait, it is not coming from the plants on one of the windows Oxhorn shows? (Sorry, dunno how psychotics work or if it is even the case. Does not help how the whole video just has a lot of loop holes as well!
Perhaps the gas was originally man made using the blue fungus in the cave but over time it mutated using the blue fungus and produced a more deadly and more abundant toxin in the air.
Put smoke in a bottle and see what happens

If someone were to make a live action fan series recreating f3's story. This vault is integral to building the character.
It would just be ABOUT a vault
I can imagine the panicked close up images of the lone wanderer, surrounded by the tint of blue as they enter a hallucination, reaching for their old friends and the tunnel snakes from their vault, only to let out a panicked yell when they snap out of it and everyone disappears
The gas seems to make you hallucinate things that should be comforting, like James, but it twists horribly by making too many of him. It would make a great episode.
Good Guy Lone Wanderer opens vault with psychoactive drugged air, realizes its deadly, and decides to leave without closing the door: leaving the Capital Waste vulnerable to the blue.
Dang Ol' Boomhauer it would probably just disperse. So it's harmless.
But wouldn’t the gas
*_D I S 🅱️ E R S E😤😤😤😤👌👌👌👌👌👌💯💯💯_*
That's not how air works. The gas would just disperse and become totally ineffective. That's why if you leave the gas stove on, first thing you do after turning it off is open all the doors and windows.
But the vault is still pumping out gas, isn't it? Or just recycling the same old air? If gas is still being produced & pumps out into the Wasteland, especially if it's heavy & sinks so the wind can't carry it away, it could easily create a pocket of gas trapped in the hills around the outside of the vault. Anyone who wanders too close for too long would be tasting blue pretty soon. But no, it wouldn't infect the whole Wasteland.
Wind exists, and anyway, there’s already radiation, raiders and mutated creatures to worry about.

After looking through again, some of the lab rooms have blue glowing liquid in their vials and equipment. And further evidence shows that the mushrooms in the cave are blue glowing fungi. That might explain the point of the vault being built in that specific cave. And another thing i pointed out but can't figure out why is the fact that the entrance to the caves where the fungi is is blocked off by rocks so maybe someone cut off the vault from the caves on purpose.
Anyways, cheers Ox, I love watching your videos and going walking with my mom while listening to your videos, better than Audible.
Also explains why in the note the guy wrote the air tastes blue
You were killin me reading that rhym. 😂
I'm on a binge of some of your popular videos, and it's got to be this combination of interesting storytelling that fallout does and your narration. I feel like I'm watching an actual show. Good videos and great vocabulary. You sound like a writer lol
Yay! Another vault video! Love your videos, keep it up!
Oxhorn, I have to say, you have a great voice for what you do.
You remind me of Orson Welles.
I'd very much like to have you and your voice on my team in the future.
"it couldn't be a technical limitation for Bethesda."
After fallout 76, my Faith in berhesda's technology has severely dwindled.
Not when they made you pay to get a proper ending to this game... ? BioWare did that right, they just gave us a free DLC. Bethesda said cough it up.
@@selty not even Bethesda's good games are safe from Bethesda's bullshit. My love for Bethesda fades more and more every day.
I love the narration! Settles the mood and makes it almost like a movie 😃

"On the floor we find...mmmmmblooduuuuh"
Good job as always, Oxhorn. You always put so much work in these videos. You always put so much detail in them. You are actually the whole reason I got into Fallout. I just wanted to thank you for that!
Hey prime, kill any communists lately

So what you're saying is...
This is a story
About some dwellers that live in a blue vault
And they're blue

Clearly noone knows the lyrics to the song. Its not bad da dee dum or whatever tf
@@annihilator562 Not extremely. It's only from the 90s.
@@Timb0zo Yes, it is "da ba dee da ba daa." The original was going to be "In Aberdeen, I will die." The song is about someone who has depression.
27:00 Love the enclave radio in the background😂
Perhaps it's a similar situation to Vault 75. Where vault tec scientist breed new dwellers in a lab to replace the ones they killed. Maybe the "survivor" was a dweller who wasn't affected by the gas and was chosen by the previous scientists to replace them once they died to continue the experiment.
Your vault videos are some of my personal favorites Ox. Your the best keep it up your killing it.
Jah Henson The Vaults are one of the most iconic and interesting stories across all the games and Ox has the pertect voice for it!
Amazingly Awkward Couldn't agree more good sir. Ox truly is the perfect man for the job.
What??!? A vault tech vault loosing all sense of humanity due to an accident?

11:49 how did he say that without messing up
I entered Vault 106 early in the game (around level 5-7) in the Xbox 360 port on Normal difficulty, and the very first terminal with the Overseer's note that is normally locked as Very Hard appeared as an Average terminal for me. This also affected the door to enter the Overseer's office, the lock appeared as a Hard lock, instead of Very Hard. Maybe the locks are leveled a bit as the player progresses.
You know what would be cool? Getting a place in a control vault. As unlikely as it would be, it would be nice to survive without being mauled by Deathclaws and Yaoguai or being experimented on by vault-tec
I have to imagine that vault-tec reserved space in the control vault for their own personnel. It just seems to be in character.
This has to be the biggest vault in Fallout history
have to say this; i have watched 6 of your videos and i fucking love the sound of your voice. that mix of creepy and knowlageable reminds me of the crypt keeper from "tales from the crypt"
*yes.*
I vividly recall my first encounter with this vault, it had genuinely made me uncomfortable haha. It was about 3 am, and storming out, and I hadn’t slept for a few days from one of my consistent Fallout Playthroughs. I thought I was tweaking, I kept reloading my game to make sure I was seeing this right. It was the perfect cliche to make it all the more surreal, it is one of my favorite Fallout experiences of all time.
Inside of you there are three Amatas, one is addicted to chems, the other is addicted to chems and the third one is addicted to chems. You are addicted to chems...
perhaps the gas itself did not cause the people in there to go insane and aggressive, many of the notes imply that the gas had the opposite effect, however the genetic trait that makes these people more suceptible to the gas might also allow them to turn into ferral ghouls with minimal scarrification, the way the insane survivers look they seem to be like halfway between human and ghoul and they are still mentally capale enough for insane ramblings and weapon use, but are highly agressive against anyone but their own, the insane survivors aren't killing each other just like ferral ghouls and the lone wanderer, while experiencing vivid ahlucinations, does not become an aggressive monster even after prolonged exposure.

His voice makes everything a quest he should be the beginning voice in vault 76
Just imagine, the Blue ridge mountains in the mist, over the horizon the shadow of a colossal being is cast upon them. As it peers through the curtain of mist you recognize the bowler and a cigar. Suddenly the pungent smell of scotch blows through you as you hear the sultry voice bellow out to you. "War, war never changes" and then you see him with God-Rays peering around his smiling mug clutching his cigar in his mouth.
you take a sip from your lucky vault 13 canteen.
HA! voices in 76? there's a reason why there arn't any human npcs.
