I see many questions about how Hilda could have possibly been Agatha's great-great-grandmother. Remember in episode 1 of this short series, Agatha told us that Hilda corresponded with her daughter Mary (Mary was Agatha's great-grand mother) by mail. They must have lived far apart, and this must have happened before the bombs dropped, as there was no mail system after the war. In those letters, Hilda told her daughter Mary that she had been invited into a Vault-Tec vault due to her musical talent. But we have no indication that Mary had any musical talent, and so she was not invited. When the bombs dropped, Hilda found refuge in Vault 92, but her daughter, Mary, was left outside like most people. Mary then went on to live the rest of her life, get married, and have children, without ever knowing what happened to her mother Hilda. She passed this story down to her child, who then passed it down to her child, Agatha.
So, Hilda was a mother before she entered Vault 92.

The symptoms of the crazies remind me of a Star Trek Next Gen episode where the crew are unable to achieve REM sleep which results in many crew members becoming murderously violent to the point where all crew members have to be incapacitated for their own and the ships safety with the exception of Data. When Dr. Malleous says the overseer was subjecting them in his sleep he may have made those most susceptible unable to achieve REM sleep hence why Zoe says she's getting sleepy. The Facts fit as a trance state and REM sleep are total opposites when it comes to brain wave activity and as Shown in many T.V shows like ST:NG, Agent Carter, and Sherlock it can have Detrimental affects.

Oxhorn, Hey... You should do a video that tells if Sturges knows he's a synth... I mean... He never attacks your settlements and helps you destroy the institute, so is he a synth who escaped with the railroad, or perhaps he is just an escaped synth who wants his revenge on the institute? Or, the most daring of all, is he still working for the remnants of the institute, ordered by Father to continue his legacy far past his inevitable doom. I would just like to see what evidence you can dig up to prove these, or your own, theories. Just an idea for your next video.

Ox, back in 1975 my father was a soldier in the "People's" Army of Bulgaria. Once he was a subjected to a high pitched noise in a undergroung naval base. He said that he was laughting like a person suffering from oligophrenia the whole time he was inside. The most horrifying thing for him was that that he was aware of his condition the whole time, but unable to stop. Sadly those type of experiments were common on the both sides of the Iron curtain back in the days.

Every morning I have to drive 30 minutes to and 30 minutes from the methadone clinic. So at 5am on weekdays and 3am on weekends I have to get up and be alone to drive to this incredibly depressing place. Having these videos to listen to during my drive is making what could be an awful tedious part of my life and turning it into the best part of my day. I am sometimes tempted to watch Oxhorn during other times but I refuse to do so and save it for the morning. So I won't be able to watch this one until tomorrow morning but man am I looking forward to it. You are so good t story telling that I don't even need to see the screen I just listen to you tell the story. Besides I've spent hundreds of hours playing all of the Fallout games so when you talk I can see the place in my mind. I don't know how long I'm going to be on methadone, it certainly beats living the way I was, always dopesick and scared that I was going to end up dead or in prison. Thinking how awful it would be for my girlfriend to find me blue and cold or me just not showing up one day because I caught a possession charge . So this is a necessary evil so to speak. Thanks for making it easy. You easily have created enough and create enough content that I'll always have a story to go along with my drive. Sometimes its those little things that keep people going. I can't thank you enough, its clear you put so much hard work into these videos. Awhile back I was listening and at the end of a vid your daughter came in and interrupted your recording. You were so sweet to her, it was a far cry from what my father would have done when I was that age. It nearly brought me to tears hearing that little interaction. So thanks even more for the time you put in that keeps you away from your family. You could cut corners and halfass things to get in and get the job done but its clear you go the extra mile for us the fans. Just wanted to voice my gratitude, you've made a lifetime fan out of me. Once I get some extra crash Ima get me one of them nifty tshirts you sell. Can't wait for the next video and I'm itching to watch this one in the morning!

Hey ox, I know I'm a few days late but i have been thinking about the experiment in the vault. I don't think that they needed people who were virtuosos at classical music, just people who liked to listen to it a lot, people who had "good ears", who could hear if a violin in an orchestra was out of tune, or in this case, hear a voice whispering over the PA system at night.

As for the D minor compared to G major, it is possible that they played it in D minor because they wanted to rather than G major. People will experiment with music to find out how it sounds when modified rather than always being a stickler for what the music sheet says. I think you read more into it than there was.

I’m not that surprised by the madness of the Overseer. What I find unbelievable is that the vault security went along with this. They knew that people were going crazy and the overseer was suddenly refusing to speak with the head scientist. They side with the Overseer. 30% of the vault goes nuts, and the Overseer hardly seems to care. They still listen to him. Even with half of the populous having gone crazy, and the Overseer’s kill phrase not working, they still trust him? The security personnel knew about the experiment, but that just makes it even less justifiable. Why would anybody be stupid enough to follow this madman? Trying to escape was clearly the only sane option at this point, and it seems like security tried to put down the survivors who were attempting to flee from the death and chaos of the vault. All on the Overseer’s orders.

Vault-Tec has been known to do many experiments, often ones using authority figures to make lesser people listen better. To convince people that if they share the guilt, the can *survive.* They cannot, however, and even the most convincing person in the world could not change any of these citizens minds, because everything already seems like a lost cause to them, so they choose to die on their own terms. Vault-Tec likes to keep people in the vaults, no matter what it takes. Keeping them inside ensures more information, and more people to do experiments on to get said information. It may have been in their plan all along, or maybe they bribed/blackmailed/threatened or forced them to listen to their superiors in exchange for their and their families lives, until Vault-Tec no longer saw them as necessary. Humans are smart, but large groups of humans often become blinded by the majority vote. Blinded even to things that are obviously wrong or the "worse choice."

Biggie I would say true, but depends on the person, I was at work once and over a time period of about a week I was extremely tired, which was strange since I have ADHD, and I have an abnormal amount of energy from it (I only say that because I do, but when I take medicine for ADHD [Yes, I tried different kinds to prevent my tiredness], I am extremely bored and I have about half the energy I usually have). Around this time, I have been off of my medicine for about 3 years, so withdrawals wouldn't be major if any at all. During the week, there was a renovation company working on a building next door, and when they finished, I was completely fine. I asked my coworkers about the feeling afterwards, and they said they were fine the whole week. So I started thinking, what if the renovation company was using something to make me feel like that indirectly. I went to the renovation company's shop and storage building off of that hunch, and discovered that they had a piece of equipment that meant for cutting drywall more efficiently that they used on the job. I asked to be able to see it and when they turned it on, it sounded like a normal drywall tool, but later that night, I experienced the same tiredness that I had when they were renovating the building next door. So I would have to assume that the equipment emitted some type of frequency that I couldn't here or sense in anyway other than my tiredness later in the day.

Without this people have a high tendecy for aggresion, coupled with the subliminar combat protocols, this created walking bombs just waiting for a trigger to explode.

My only complaint, as someone with an audio engineering degree, for the script writers is that the term "white noise" refers to the sound of all frequencies played at the same volume. "Pink noise" is all the frequencies of the human hearing range played at the same volume. "low frequency white noise" is a bit of an oxymoron.

Hey it's vault tec we are dealing with here and they aren't exactly always 'expert scientifically minded'. They are a business and I mean... just look at how the medical industries compared to actual doctors tends to use that very well known icon for medicine. Stick with snake..... or rather the wrong-use of the hermes staff with twin snakes, rather than the stick wit ha singular snake entwined around it that is the symbol for the greek god of medicine.
Hence why Vault Tec is not really doing great science.

My argument for this being that many feel that music is the one language/art that reaches everybody and has profound positive psychological effects.

so somewhere along the way, they changed their original plan of Vault 92 being a refuge for Musicians and Music, turning it into a giant white noise experimental petri dish, which ended up killing some of the Vault Dwellers, and turning most of the rest Batshit Crazy, with at least one person escaping.
i believe in my heart that it was Hilda's daughter or grandaughter, and in the fear and panic to escape the vault, the Violin was left behind, now a couple gens later and we end up walking right into the petri dish.

Wow I'm very confused now.... how is Agatha, Hilda's great great granddaughter if Hilda died in the vault.... she would of had to survive to have started a family. Unless she already had a kid but that's never mentioned... not too mention even if she did have a kid it would have been very unlikely for her to have made it out of that vault alone

    • @LungsOutJem
      @LungsOutJem 7 років тому +8

Obviously, the details are a bit fuzzy, but the story is definitely that she got out, leaving her violin behind, but teaching her children and grandchildren how to build violins and play them. Also, from what we learn from the terminals, the vault was running for enough years for the vent system to completely corrode and deteriorate. Seems likely that she went in young, met someone on the inside, and escaped with them.
For some reason, I recall thinking that the redhead mentioned in one terminal was her.
Also, Ox did mention that one guy rallying the survivors to escape together. It's likely a group left the vault together, making a life outside after most of the radiation died down.
Then again, if that really was Parker and Hilda dead in that room with the violin, then Hilda must have been older when she went into the vault, being forced to leave her kids behind. The kids survived and passed the tale down through the years.

    • @ladylunaginaofgames40
