When you've practised bass lines your whole life and now it's time to solo 😂
No
*crying*
The german band "Die Ärzte" had a running joke about bass solos and how their bassist sucked at them. Was funny every time.
Be inspired... by each other... don't get hubris... but show of what you got...
Since when do people hate Bass solos?
As a bass player, Ive always hated the fact that the whole band drops out and leaves you high and dry after you've given all the soloists a solid foundation to do their thing....selfish bastards
I- I don't understand why they do this 😂does it hurt their egos that much to not have the attention on them?
We guitar players have a ridiculously fragile ego that needs to be uplifted by everyone around us. Stop bullying me 😢
I never did this. As a drummer accomanying a bass solo is awesome you can really get a groove on. And as a rythem guitarist you can give the bass some solid chords.
I love bass solos!!!
@@frag4007 yesss! classic way to build tension for the last chorus.
That keyboard solo was awesomely funny! "I'm just gonna play one note".
But so true 🤣🤣
El Sonidito has entered the chat...
At least change the VCO or portamento the single note !!!!!
lowkey slapped tho
Neil Young DOMINATED one note...
Come on drummers! You and the bassist carry the band together, don't leave him hanging when he needs you the most.
Yeahhh, if your drummer does that then you need a new one lol
Me being a drummer and a bassist
I've played drums in that situation, the whole band just leaves the bassist out, but I just keep on backing the bassist, no one was mad at me for it but i could tell there was some looks of anger.
You can see the drummer is the only one actually aware of the situation there. Drummers are really a bassist's best friend.
@@pardolagames8994 It's not just that - it's that bands are built around the bass being the low end. If the bass moves up (and it can't go very far up, mind you), there really isn't room for higher-pitched instruments to go to. Most definitely can't dive below the bass and start providing the the groove while the bassist pretends he's the guitarist. The keys probably can, but forget about most other common band instruments. People play really muted, still things during bass solos for good reason. But because the bass stops doing the job it is in the band for, the music just has to sit still, the drive's gone and it won't go back until someone goes back to the lowest octaves, and most can't. It's usually just the bass and keys that can.
Secondly, the bass's sound itself is very mellow and unobtrusive, which makes it extra hard. Stuff like distorted guitars can drown it easily if they're playing in a similar pitch range. The rest of the instruments have to get out of the bass's way in two different ways unless the bassist dials in a solo-specific tone that can cut through a bit.
To get some idea of the difficulties, go to axln.github.io/guitar-piano-layout/build/
Seeing the linear sound space of the keyboard and the bass/guitar necks at the same time really helps visualize some of the issues.
I like how carefully he put his bass in the trash, "i dont mean it baby."

This happened to me once. Singer shouted "and now... the bass solo!" and then the damn band stopped playing. I went for slow wibes with delay and then did this mad tapping "filler" to the end and finalized it all by randomly raising my fist in the air and yelling "AYYYY!" to the mic so people knew what to do! As a guitarist and a floutist, I agree. Bassists are underrated and if you heard a song without the bass line, it sounds incomplete and odd. Bassists should be more appreciated lol.
Bass is like a support class. Highly under appreciated, and a vital component to the way a song sounds.

Clay gober my fav bassist (that is in a band).
Let's just appreciate how much effort he did to make this video.
That's exactly why I love Joy Divison and New Order so much. In most of the songs the bass is more important than the guitar and bass solos are almost guaranteed. Peter Hook is an absolutely amazing bass player and he has a very unique style of playing bass which enhences the dominance of the bass in those bands. It also raised my awareness how bad bass players are treated in most of the modern bands. A bass is not an instrument of the backround, it's an anchor to the overall sound of a song.
The only song i know for new order is blue monday can you suggest me other songs that has unique bass
Komakino , 24 Hours , Atrocity Exibition , Colony ... such powerful bass lines !

The reason why most people find bass solos boring is that you need a very high intelectual capacity to understand the power of *B* *A* *S* *S*
Honestly though the reason why they are hated on is because without the bass playing the bassline the solo doesn't have the momentum that it needs to be interesting to listen to. This is why slap works because it is a combination of bassline and solo. It makes the bassline the focus.
Why did I read this on B A S S effect sound ?
True
Listen to this music Hey Barbara - IV of spades
@@johnlloydcarlos2561 the solo there was so hard to pull off without using a pick, and the bassist did it with his hands
I remember this band that was called Seven Sided Diamond that was touring with Symphony X here in Brazil. We all knew they had a beast of a bass player and we were chanting for most of the songs for a bass solo which was obliged and DAMN it was SO GOOD.
It's even more ridiculous because those simple solos on the guitar and synth really sounded so good
- Isn't that keyboard too small?
- Nope. It has 24 more keys than I need
It really is something when you're watching a jazz band play and the bass solo comes up. The way a real professional band instantly gets real quiet so you can hear it always amazes me.

I'm a drummer and I love bassists I protect them with all my being, they need more love
Brian Setzer Orchestra came here a few years back and they had like a 5 minute dueling stand up bass battle in the middle of a song full of accompaniment. Setzer jumped off stage and sat in the audience and watched the battle. When he got back on stage and the battle ended the place erupted. He goes, "That's the first time our bassists got that much love from an audience... I don't think I can top that... do you want to hear some more?!" And we watched another 1-2 minutes of it. Probably the only time I've seen the band pay full respect to a bass solo/battle and it was absolutely epic (sorry Davie504... it's the right word here).
Honestly, I feel people like Charles have made people rethink the value of the Bass in a lot of ways for the better, or at the very least have a much better respect for it. Always great to see you upload! Cheers
I bet Charles is a better guitar shredder that most guitarists. Lol.
Bass players have fat fingers, they can't manage the much finer instrument that is the electrical guitar with delicate, narrow distances between the godly placed frets.

That's pretty much the message of the video - it's easier to play an awesome sounding solo when there's a band behind you playing interesting rhythms, harmonies etc. When it's time for the bass solo, sometimes just the drummer plays behind the bassist or he has to go completely alone.
