Jayde! This is a Very beautiful Kalimba ❤️❤️❤️ I'm glad so Seren went ahead and made the site to sell this, it's a bit pricey for me, I would buy this in a heartbeat if I had the money, but would love to review it someday, you did a great review 😊

Aww thank you! Yes she has done an amazing job of everything, impressively so! It is a bit pricey for sure but for me an investment because it is so well made it should hold up well :) plus chromatic opens up a whole new world of things to play!

It looks and sounds great! Thank you for your review. How are the top tines arranged? I was thinking C# on top of C, D# on top of D and so on but then what about B and E? 😝 Is it a different scale other than C major?

    • @jjt8n551
      @jjt8n551  3 роки тому +1

It is c major :) they are not stacked in a way that has c# over cd but the arrangement is quite natural :) Chill Angels can answer all kinds of questions like that, you should reach out to her :) she is wonderfully helpful.

It looks like the sharps/flats bank of keys would get in the way of tuning the naturals. Is this a problem?

(Thank you for clarifying how you meant this question, I can get a bit defensive because so many undervalue the work of makers and I will always defend them and their time/skill :) I accidentally deleted your comment and cannot restore it (sigh))
I paid what the maker is asking and here is why.
      1. Countless hours (keep in mind she has a family so her time is of great value, as well as the fact she is a professional working hard at the same time!) of her time spent learning about the instrument and what makes it special to us
      2. Countless hours of her time spent testing designs to find out how to make it the very best she can, for us
      3. Countless hours of creating/designing/building a first prototype to test
      4. Expense of creating a first prototype to learn from (materials)
      5. Countless hours testing said prototype
      6. Countless hours refining prototype, for us
      7. Expense of purchasing any needed materials to change issues she caught with her expert testing
      8. Countless hours rebuilding/testing/creating/tweaking
      9. Expense and time creating a website, marketing materials, a music book/notebook for the kalimba since she cannot just recycle the same ol' 17 key kalimba notebooks that all of the mass produced cheaper ones do
      10. Time and Expense of sourcing couriers, dealing with banks, dealing with customers (customers alone suck hours and hours of her time responding to questions).
This, this is her Job and she does it with energy and thought toward OUR experience because it is her passion.
For me? I am going to support the maker because of the 10 points listed above and the millions I have forgotten.
For me? I am going to support the maker because she is an amazing, smart, talented, lovely human being and I believe that value in the world is so much more than spending a bit more money to have a gorgeous, professional grade, well made, no dead tines, kalimba that is supported by a maker/artist/human that is amazing.
There are certainly more affordable kalimbas out there, and I own plenty of those too. This one is special though

@@jjt8n551 as I'm just starting out, I picked up a 17 key and have a 34 key chromatic on the way. Time will tell whether I stick with it or if it's just a phase. All I know is this instrument produces such beautiful music. I'm just so enamored by its tone and simplicity. This lovely instrument you reviewed in this video is definitely something for me to aspire to. My sincere and heartfelt congratulations to you for owning it! I'm sure it's a treasured addition. I look forward to more videos!

  • @dipayan4264

    • @jjt8n551

That is something you should ask the seller not the buyer, I do not make the price or decide why it had been priced this way. I link to her information so you can contact her. As a buyer I make the decision if I believe it has that value, which I do. It is a beautifully made, high quality, professional grade instrument. It is not mass produced. It is supported by the maker (who is a beautiful human). Therefore to me the value is high and I wish to own this kalimba and to support this maker. :).
