I'm driving Lexus gs. It's a beast
I love Genesis, but I also love Lexus. The Lexus Gs350 for me.
Now that I've seen how Genesis has evolved as a brand, read the reviews over three years... I want the Genesis.

The Genesis is not pretending to be a sport sedan. It is a luxury sedan. The Lexus, on the other hand is the pricey sport oriented F sport model. Considering the Genesis makes no pretenses of being a sport sedan I think it did really well against a sport oriented Lexus F sport. Wait until Genesis releases the Genesis Sport model this spring then make an apples to apples comparison. Or wait until Hyundai engineers at their Namyang center (N division) releases their N Sport models.
The F sport doesn’t add power. So it is Apples to apples. It’s Lexus V6 3.5 against Hyundai V6 3.8.
The only time the sport package makes a difference is on the track. Then I’d agree that it isn’t a fair comparison but straight line isn’t affected by those mods.
To get more power you need to go to the GS-F which is the 5.0 monster. Then this car even with its 5.0 wouldn’t have a chance.

Back in the 80s Toyota proved that they make most reliable cars in the world. Meanwhile they wanted to make best car in world and they have proved that Lexus is one of the best built car in the world. It is just that Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar etc. has better heritage value. Lexus beats many of these in terms of refinement and reliability. Now they are only after making their best cars even better.

Genesis's models are not bad at all. But still under than Lexus's models which are older. This GS looks agressive and modern (exterior and interior) and its V6 sounds better of course. So for the moment, i prefer so far the Lexus

Genesis sounded broken. While the GS sounds amazing. The GS was faster with a smaller engine. Quality and longevity will be better on the Lexus. Also the Lexus will depreciate a lot less over time than the Genesis.
Genesis looks more premium and has nicer exterior styling. Performance is in par and reliability is there as well.

lexus looks better inside and outside and out preforms better on the street and sounds really better.
But it didn't out-perform the Genesis in every way, WOT interior noise was quieter in the Genesis and braking was better too. The transmission on the Genesis was also MUCH quicker at picking a suitable gear in the 60-100 even though it upshifted just before they floored it.
We're talking about two cars 250kg apart in weight, THE .2/.4 0-60-100 is a compromise I'd trade for a quieter interior.
But the GS handles far better. In fact, the GS handles better than every other German executive car(BMW 5 series, MB E class, Audi A6) let alone the Hyundai. Thanks to the new generation L10 Lexus chassis that is very lightweight for its rigidity and roadholding prowess.
me @natnut2008 Lexus is no where close to the Germans. you can't compare a copy to real. Germans are real nd Lexus is a chitzny garbage. All you appreciate is the Yamaha sound fitted in it, try the germans produce nd you will know the difference is clear. Total CLEAR!!!

The tow cars almost same in performance, a little bit better for LEXUS thanks to 200Kg lighter in weight.

The Genesis is definitely nice, but the Lexus GS 350 is in its own league
Why not compare the base 350. FSport is in a diff class
Lexus 30 years in the making, Genesis going into it's 4th year. Put a 2019 Genesis G80 Sport up against the same Price ES350 and see who out performs who. Just like Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and all the others who are being forced by Hyundai/kia to step things up and follow in there footsteps, you will see Lexus doing the same with Genesis. Pretty sad when a company's been around 30 years and is NO better than the one who's only been doing it for 4. Lexus, Acura, and Infiniti will ALL BEND THE KNEE to Genesis in the next couple years, hahahahaha!

I mean, at least Genesis isn’t trying to call this a sport sedan like Acura yet the Acura is FWD and this is RWD with a chassis built by Lotus. And Lexus is still using the same old ancient infotainment to this day from the one in this video, along with Infiniti. Give me one reason to buy one of those over this Genesis for a fraction of the cost?😂

i think the design and interior of the genesis is a lot better, however the lexus will always be more reliable.
I am a huge Lexus fanboy but I think the exterior wise the Hyundai look a little bit better but the interior and gauge on Lexus look so much better. And then you Lexus has the built quality and reliability that it cars will easily goes to 200k to 1 million miles easy. Plus, the Lexus keep it car value to so good.
So if I have to pick one it is the Lexus GS350 for me and Lexus was the first car company to came out with the digital gauges when the Lexus LF-A came out awhile ago.

、例えば 運転席のメーターの作り、ドリンクホルダー何かは、何も考えてない感バリバリ。
シートの見た目の作りは良さそうだけど、肉厚感が付属して見えるので長時間の運転だと疲れそう。
GSが唯一、コンセプトが違うから仕方ないのかもしれませんが、後部座席の人は無視みたいなところは改善すべきかな？と思う。
初代GSも 購入候補でしたけど、後部座席はリクライニングしないは・・・ で 結局自分は マジェスタにしたからなー。 このへん次期モデルでオプションで構わんので付けるべき。

Deandre Taylor That's not really true about the GS. Toyota doesn't make a car on the GS platform or the LS, LC, or IS cars for that matter. Also, the Lexus engines are quite a bit different than the Toyota versions they are derived from. The Lexus suv's though, you are definitely right as far as the platforms go. I can't speak for the Genesis brand. I don't know their cars that well.
Dre Taylor that’s an ignorant comment from someone that thinks he knows something. Every company that exists shares their platforms across all of their cars. Lexus currently only has one sedan that shares a platform with Toyota and that’s the ES. Even that car has tons of changes to its platform to make it more suitable for a luxury car. It’s not a simple badge swap like many ignorant people claim.

Konan Kun - Couldn't agree more, the genesis trumphs the Lexus (Toyota) in multiple areas - also looks alot better, the current gen GS is far to long in the tooth in several areas.
I am not sure - both still look cheap in many ways. The Hyundai for example is supposed to be a contender with some luxury rivals, but for example it has Halogen high beams? or a cheap looking speedo? The Lexus looks better on the outside I think but inside you still have the Toyota look with things like indicator stalks etc :( I think I will just stick with European cars !
