For your first video, I applaud you! I own a high mileage, dealer maintained version of this car, I got it in Feb of this year. Despite being rough around the edges, it’s a great vehicle. However, I agree with the gripes you have with it, namely infotainment. It’s also heavy, but it’s pretty athletic despite that. The traction control is also very artificial, since there is no LSD, but keeps you from going sideways even with all the VSC stuff off. Great highway cruiser (which I use it for), and surprisingly efficient. I get up to 32 mpg going 75-80mph, and it’s smooth.
@@TYLERMORRIStech Pretty much, going long stretches without traffic also helps. I averaged 25-26mpg since Ive had the car. Dont do a whole lot of city.
Excellent Video...(thank you) I’m 67 and had a 2007 Porsche 911 Cabriolet (regret selling it), then I bought an ES and I gave it gf (needed car). I didn’t want to put out the big pesos for another Porsche so I looked at getting a good used car car. I bought a 2013 Charcoal gray GS 350 (paid it off in six months). I have ZERO complaints: It performs EXACTLY like you described. (I don’t have the luxury edition) but the standard version is LOADED. Recently, I was thinking of getting rid of it to get another Porsche but the prices have skyrockted so I am watching video to appreciate the car I own: I FORGOT how cool our car’s really are...thanks I needed this...BTW I live by the coast as well (So California) I ride by water all the time.
I'm impressed with this review. Not just the car but the filming, the music used, and the amount of information given. It's the first video I've seen from this channel and safe to say you've earned a sub
Thanks for the review! Have the 2021 GS450h F-SPORT. & still looks & drives like new. The padding between the front seats and the tunnel is my favorite feature as nothing can fall from my pockets to under the seat. Most new cars can't beat the GS. Reliable as ever, and boy is fast
Love my white on red 2016 GS350 F-Sport that I bought used three years ago with 41k miles, now with 72k miles & has been an incredible car. My first Lexus that it replaced was a 2017 IS200t F-Sport that I owned for just under two years & is a huge improvement in every way as it's much more luxurious, rides better & even handles better. I'll more than likely keep it for a very long time as it still puts a big smile on my face every time I drive it. I've driven the current ES several times as loaners & I hated it compared to the GS.
Glad you’re enjoying the car! Also, interesting point about how the GS drives vs the IS! I would have thought that the heavier car wouldn’t handle as well. Thanks for sharing!
man i just picked up a 2015 F-Sport with 77k miles, black with red interior. its absolutely stunning, favorite daily car i’ve ever seen and hoping its here for the long haul
i have literally the exact car, same color, same package, rear seat controls, mark levinson, adaptive suspension, just the white seats, owned since 2018 117k miles now zero issues, none. stop leasing and financing cars and just buy one of these, doesn't cost anything to own.
I just bought a 2015 GS 350 with 186k miles and it feels and drives like a new car. I paid $13k for it. I've only had it's for like 4 days and I already love it. My wife only drives 20k miles in 5 years so it will last her forever. 2013 an old car? My daily driver is a 2003 chevy trailblazer with 198k miles. It still looks goodi inside and out. And it drives fines. Very little oil leak that doesn't hit the ground and no oil burning. 😂. Subscribed
Bought mines 4 years ago 2012 450h f sport and still love it no major issues bought at 53k milage now 83k milage. Just annoying I don’t have the hud display or power lift boot on mines. I get 39 mpg with mixed driving.
Luxury spec same as my 2012 pearl white. Had the springs swapped with Swifts to almost eliminate the bodyroll while maintaining the almost stock plush ride.
At $10500 this car is a steal. The only two things missing is F sport package with adaptive suspension and 8 speed auto transmission that was an update to this model from 2014 and up.
I actually think the Luxury trim is better! It has the adaptive suspension from the F-sport variant with the 18-way memory seats for driver and passenger, rear seat controls, rear window sunshades, and power trunk. The 8-speed auto would definitely improve fuel economy, but I heard it’s much less willing to drop gears under higher throttle input vs the 6-speed. Is this true?
Amazing first video my guy! What device did you use for getting apple car/android auto? Getting this capability is a big reason why I'm thinking of making this my next car, but have been trying out the GROM VLite in my wife's car and its been a headache to get working...

The main things I use it for are nav using Waze/Google Maps and for Spotify. For those purposes, it’s fine especially for the price. The CarPlay system integrates with the original OS and screen, but doesn’t work too well with the in-car controls since the cursor on the second screen also moves with the one on the CarPlay screen, and the joystick’s physical stops misalign with the cursor positions to click buttons on the CarPlay system. But Siri basically solves that issue when you want to control things when you’re moving, and you can always use your phone when stopped.

Same. Had my ‘14 gs f sport for 3 years and I consider replacing it. But that’s luxury sedans for you! They’re only exciting when they’re newer. Mpg is the only complaint. Aside from that cost of ownership is insanely cheap for what it is. Trying to be frugal and drive it another 3yrs and get the new GX once it depreciates a bit.
I’d like to believe they still care (e.g. LC, IS, GX), but since most of their customers aren’t enthusiasts, that could explain why most of their lineup consists of relatively less fun cars (e.g. RX, NX, UX, etc).

Do you think this car could be a good first car? Taking into account the maintenance and insurance costs
My recommendation depends on how much driving experience you have.
If you are a beginner, I wouldn’t recommend this. This is a decently powerful RWD luxury car, which means 1, it could be unforgiving for a beginner to control in low traction situations (e.g. snow/rain), 2, it has many technological assistances like sensors and a rear camera which a beginner should not rely on regularly when learning and improving (the less assistance your car has as a beginner, the better), and 3, as a beginner you are more prone to making minor damage such as scratches which will be painful with a nice car like this. I’m not sure about insurance costs though because for a car this age, only third party insurance is offered for me in HK. Plus, our insurance costs are affected vastly by the number of years you’ve had your license. I would recommend buying a cheap beater car first and drive it regularly, then after you’ve mastered it, you can get a proper nice car.
If you are an experienced driver already (i.e. you are comfortable driving a car without any driver aids and will simply be *helped* by the aids in this car and not rely on them), then go ahead. Maintenance is like a normal Toyota (but consumables will be more expensive than a Lexus using a FWD platform like an ES) so you won’t ever have to worry about it.
Hope this helps!
